“The real deal! Grettel is a caring, careful and dependable pet sitter. She’s extremely experienced in her job and is equally a dog person and a cat person (we loved that because we have both!) She is a full time pet sitter so has great availability, which is such a relief to us. She takes her job very seriously: she took time to bond with our 2 shy rescue dogs, took lots of notes about our routine, and arrives on time. Your pets will be in safe competent loving hands with Grettel!”

“Paige took wonderful care of our cat, Charlie, while we were away for a few days. She was very communicative, sending photos and updates, and we came home to a happy, calm cat. We’d definitely recommend Paige and would gladly hire her again!”

“TY Jen! My three cats were a handful (e.g. knocking over a vase, pulling things off of a shelf, digging dirt out of a plant, throwing up)! Jen fixed everything up and took wonderful care of them. They are all super shy, but warmed right up to her. Jen gave wonderful detailed feedback for each visit and was super quick to respond whenever we chatted. She played with them and pet them after dealing with food, cat boxes, and water. I felt very much at ease with her caring for them and I will definitely ask if she would watch them again in the future. Hopefully, they'll be more well behaved. I highly recommend her!”

“Kimberly took fantastic care of my cats! I have one shy cat that I thought would hide while she visited, but my kitty was out during each visit, and even played with her! I couldn't be happier, and have already re-booked her for another time while I'll be traveling. She's incredibly nice, and my cats were definitely well cared for!”

“Jules was excellent! Highly recommend her. She watched our Billie Boy (cat) for several weeks. Giving us updates on him, taking great care of him! He’s a shy guy but slowly started to warm up to her. She brought in our mail, packages and even cleaned the snow off our porch!! A+++”

About: I’m not here to “just stop by.” I’m here to do it properly. I notice what’s off, what’s needed, and what keeps your pet settled — and I handle it without making it a production. You get thoughtful updates, a respected home, and a pet that feels like nothing’s been disrupted. Pet care fits in cleanly — not squeezed in. I keep my schedule intentional, so when I commit to a visit, your pet gets my full attention, not whatever time is left over. I’m consistent, on time, and mindful of routines — because that’s what actually keeps pets settled. I treat your home like it’s yours — and your pet like they’re paying attention (because they are). I follow instructions closely, keep things clean and orderly, and stay aware of your pet’s behavior and environment at all times. No shortcuts, no guesswork — just attentive, reliable care so everything feels exactly as it should when you return.
“Lexi was fabulous, Walter and Bageera were both very well taken care of and we were kept up to date the whole time. We missed our kids (pets) very much while we were gone but very confident that we left them in good hands with Lexi. NO WORRIES 😉 👍🏼”

“Alexander is incredibly reliable, kind and helpful in taking care of Skipper. He goes above and beyond in making sure that our older dog is consistently given walks, meals and even an insulin shot”
“Once again Paige took amazing care of my babies while i was away. I can tell they are happy with her love and care from the regular photos and updates she sends! I truly value Paige’s professionalism and love when she’s taking care of my kitties!! ♥️♥️”

“Five Stars for Jen M.! After a long awaited family vacation, Jen M. made a loving trip possible with total peace of mind in terms of her pet care, loving-kindness, daily drop ins, walks, and feedings ~ and conscious attention to my beautiful pit bull's physical and emotional needs while we were away. She is a beautiful person who is aware of the deep needs of each family pet, feeding schedules, attention to detail, and suggestions for better relationship improvement for all involved. Jen came each day and took excellent care of my pet, my home, and everyone involved in my household. She noticed things and worked to improve my dog's every day life and experience while I was away, and made suggestions for a better quality of life for him and for us as an expert in her field. Jen M.'s skills will fit perfectly for people who work full time, travel occasionally, need in home pet care, or home-sitting with animals. She is a loving steward of her work ~ and it shows in her caring approach to each moment with your pet. She is compassionate, responsible, trustworthy, and full of awareness that will bond your pet to her and make your pet feel safe and secure until your return. Jen M. has my highest recommendation for pet sitting and pet awareness. She has a great deal of experience to share with each dog or cat (and their pet parents), and she brings her lifelong skills with rescues and other more challenging situations to each pet sitting set of circumstances. Jen M. is also a wonderful human being your pet and your family will grow to love. Thank you Jen for a wonderful experience for my dog Hygge and for us all while we were on vacation. I am grateful for your professionalism and your presence in our lives.”

About: I've cared for many cats and dogs, from pit bulls to terriers to English bulldogs. I have experience with puppy training, senior dog care, and oral medication administration. I'm a patient and compassionate pet owner, and I promise to treat your fur babies with the same love and care I would my own. I'm also a graduate music student in case your pet might want to be serenaded by a french horn :) I'm a musician and graduate student at Bard. My schedule changes quite a bit, but I always have a good idea of what my schedule will look well in advance. In addition, I am generally free most mornings, and can often be flexible. I'm very happy to provide your dog(s) with walks, food, brushing, bathing, and medication. I love to play fetch with dogs, go on walks or hikes, visit dog parks, cuddle, practice tricks, or any other enriching activity. With cats, I love to cuddle, play, and practice or try new tricks with treats.
“We simply could not have asked for better and we are so thrilled and relieved that we have found such great care for our 2 cats and one dog. We have a stretch booked with Paula for September and it gives us such peace of mind to know they will be so well cared for. Thank you Paula!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats for the last 10 years, and my friends and neighbors have trusted me to walk and feed their pets too! I love cats and dogs of all kinds! I work Wednesday-Monday during the day so I can walk, feed, or play with pets in the afternoons and evenings or I can house sit overnight. I am used to high-energy dogs and cats that need someone to play with and get their energy out, or to take them for a long walk.
“Elizabeth is a perfect communicator and made me feel my cat was in great hands the week I was away. I could tell from her reports that she really understood and appreciated my cat, and that they had a really nice time together. I give Elizabeth my highest recommendation, and will definitely be reaching back out to her when I'm next out of town!”

“Jamie was fantastic and came over the day before we needed care. Jamie was communicative, sent pics, and loved on our cats. We are so grateful and relieved that we were able to work with Jamie last minute!”

About: Hi, my name is Lia. I am a 39 year old artist. I was born and raised in a rural part of northern NJ where we always had a wide variety of animals as well as 2-3 dogs at any given time; predominantly German Shephards. (We also had fish, cats, chickens, horses, rabbits and more!) I have a strong love and appreciation for all animals, but especially dogs, and would love so very much to take care of your pet while you are away. I love going outdoors and being physically active and would love to share outdoor playtime with your pet. Why I love dog sitting I've had dogs my whole life. My family predominantly raised German Shepherds - and we typically had 2-3 dogs in our family at any given time. Dogs have always created a special connection and friendship for me that is irreplaceable! My experience administering medication Yes - so long as the owner feels that it is appropriate and manageable. My schedule is quite flexible, so I have time in the morning and mid day to attend to animals and take them for a walk, give feeding, attention, etc. - As well as flexibility in the evening to give dinner, evening walks, etc. At the moment I am not accepting pets in my home, however, I currently don't have any animals of my own so if I do board pets, they will be the only animal in the house.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was a child, and neighbors, family members, and clients have relied on me to walk, feed, and supervise their pets. I have dogwalked and petsit for many different households and love caring for animals and keeping them company. I’m currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time for dogwalking and other pet caretaking needs. I can also pet and housesit on weekends if needed. For dogs, I love to take them on a stroll through the park. If you’d like, I can run with them and provide exercise activities. I can also drop by and feed your pets if need be, and I’m flexible according to your needs!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Alligerville. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
