Pet care experience

An animal lover who wants to help!!

Hello, I’ve been taking care of pets since I was 11 years old. From dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, you name it! I’ve trained many puppies and love everyone’s furry friends. Fun Fact my dog at home is scared of thunder, so I always sit in the bathtub with him until he’s ready to come out (photo included) I’ve also babysat and house sat for many years :)

I can't say enough good things about Athena! She took amazing care of my dog while I was away for vacation, and I felt so at ease knowing she was looking after him. She went above and beyond, keeping me updated with pictures and messages throughout my vacation, which really put my mind at ease. On top of that, she's super sweet and easy to communicate with. I’d absolutely trust her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible and caring pet sitter. Thank you again from us and Bruce for everything, Athena!

I can’t recommend Athena enough as a pet sitter and dog walker. She is one of the most responsible, compassionate, and attentive people I know. Athena genuinely loves animals and treats every pet like her own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for at all times. She is incredibly reliable, communicative, and detail oriented. Any pet in her care will receive so much love, patience, and positive energy.

Athena has helped watch my cat before, and I can attest she is well prepared to keep them busy, loved, fed, and cared for. Athena is very responsible not only with pets, but also with her work ethic, and I trust her with my life (my cat).

Athena is an incredibly responsible and intuitive caregiver. She doesn't just watch pets; she truly engages with them and treats them like her own family. My dog is always calm and happy after her visits, and her communication is top notch. I couldn't recommend her more highly for anyone looking for a loving and reliable sitter!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a single room on campus with loads of space and two beds if the pets want to have a comfy space. When I have to leave for a class I play zen pet music to help calm them down if I have to leave!

A typical day

Throughout the day, I prioritize companionship, whether that’s getting pet on the couch or playing fetch, I will ensure they feel like they’re on a fun staycation rather than just waiting for you to come home.

I prioritize learning their specific dietary needs, from strict meal portions to those "hidden" allergy triggers. Understanding their unique fears, like a spook from a loud truck or a dislike of the vacuum, helps me create a haven for them, while recognizing their common cues (like a specific I need a walk nudge) ensures nothing gets lost in translation. Finally, having emergency contacts and vet info at my fingertips provides that essential safety net.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
