“Monica was a really wonderful sitter! She was really communicative and sent lots of updates. We appreciate how attentive she was to Cricket given her anxiety. Thank you Monica!!”

About: Dogs have always been cherished members of my family for my whole life. I grew up caring for our family pups (Sammy, River, Indy, Sirius, and the newest addition, Loki!) from their puppyhood through their senior golden years. When I was 12, I began caring for the dogs and cats in my neighborhood. I am experienced with dogs of all ages and sizes (I grew up with border collie/lab mixes, a great dane/pit/lab mix, and an aussie shepherd), and have extensive experience caring for more than one dog (or cat!) at a time. Since then, I have cared for dogs and cats across the Hudson Valley and NYC. Since I have no pets of my own because of my apartment size, I will treat yours as if they were my own and they will get all the care and attention they need while you are away. I also offer pet portraits and would be happy to talk with you about that further if you're interested. Every moment I get to spend with an animal is so special to me and I would be so grateful for the opportunity to share that love with you and your pup. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to discuss it all with you! I am currently working as a freelance artist/photographer. I make my own schedule and so I am flexible to meet you and your pup’s needs. I am committed to creating an environment in your home that is safe, secure, and fun for your pup all day long! I am detail-oriented so I keep the place tidy and comfortable. Because every dog is different and you know your dog best, I follow your instructions carefully and guarantee open, prompt communication with you. I am very comfortable crating your dog if you need and happy caring for more than one. I know it can be hard to leave your pet in the care of someone else (Ive been there!) and so Im committed to making sure you feel comfortable and confident by building trust between you, your pup, and me…we got this!
“We had never used any pet sitting service before and felt very nervous about leaving our dog. From the very first meeting, Laianna put our minds at ease and made us feel very comfortable. She made sure to ask us all about Gracie and we could see that she connected with Gracie right away. Gracie has so much energy and demands a lot of attention but from all the pictures and videos Laianna sent, it was obvious she was well taken care of! Laianna is very reliable, trustworthy and great with animals. We will definitely use her again for any future travel plans.”

“Riss was fantastic! I came home to my staff/pit mix being very relaxed and comfortable. It seems like he had a nice time with riss. She was very communicative and shared updates and photos. I highly recommend! Also, the house was spotless, that’s very much appreciated”

“Emily watched our dog Mouse for 16 days while we were halfway around the world. This was the longest we had ever been away from him and the farthest. We were a little nervous going into it but Emily made us feel so at ease. She sent updates every day usually multiple times a day. She would also tailor the timing of her updates to the timezone we were in which was much appreciated as well. We could tell Mouse was well taken care of and that she gave him a lot of love. We can’t wait to work with her again!”

“I can't say enough great things about Katherine — we've booked her several times to stay with our girl, Penelope. Most recently, she watched both the house and Penelope while we were away for the holiday break. The entire week we felt totally at ease having Katherine there, and really appreciated her thoughtful and thorough communication.. not to mention Penelope seems to really love having her around, too. We'll happily continue to hire Katherine, can't recommend her enough.”

“Alexa was incredible with our girls and saved us when a sitter canceled last-minute. She sent the cutest pictures and I could tell my pups LOVED her. We can’t wait to have her back!”

About: I have trained two puppies, and taken care of a senior dog who sadly recently passed. I understand the patience required for both ends of the spectrum. Currently my puppy is just 9 months old, and very sweet with all other pets. I can help with socialisation, or just general care and walking, whatever you need! I am a graduate student in a very flexible program, just working a few hours a week at Bard College, the rest of the time at home. I have access to a yard, and my friendly puppy to play with. I am happy to follow feeding schedules, and can maintain training routines. I have a crate if your dog needs their safe space.
“Deanna is a warm and friendly young woman and did a great job of sitting for my two cats while I was away, sleeping over for three nights. She fed them and seemed to genuinely enjoy them. She sent me a photo every day to reassure me. She even cleaned up their vomit without complaining. She left my home neat as a pin, just as she found it. I recommend her and would certainly hire her again.”

“Elanor took great care of Dax! She has a great dog park and took him on a few walks, and sent photos throughout the visit reassuring me he was doing great. Will definitely book again so Dax can spend time with his new abuela!”

“Karla is a gentle and kind animal whisperer. Our pup was immediately calmed by her energy. From his daily med routine, to even feeding him by hand when he put up a “my humans are traveling fight” she cared for him with grace and love. AND we got daily pics.”

“Cassie is a wonderful sitter! This was our puppies’s first experience with a sitter and she was very communicative and reliable. She constantly sent us picture, videos, and updates so we were able to be at ease the whole time. Will definitely book her again in the future!”

Hillside pet parents share their Rover experiences
Marielle did a great job watching over our pup and home for three days in the wake of a snowstorm. She asked a few operational questions about the house, leaving it spotless. And shared pictures of the happy pup indoors and out. Having met a few times to get to know one another, we knew the pup was in good hands with Marielle who is very patient and puppy savvy.

We had such a great experience with Daniela! They were incredibly communicative, sending us lots of photo updates that gave us peace of mind while we were away. Cricket loved spending time with them and was clearly well cared for. Daniela went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. We would happily book with Daniela again!

Laura was able to come last-minute for a full afternoon and cared for both my new kitten and my cat that she’s met before. There was extra work keeping them separated and with different food requirements, so I appreciated Laura’s attention to both my kitties. Great pics as always, and they’re knocked out from a great play-date!

Nicole stayed with our two French bulldogs while we were away for a long weekend. She did a wonderful job and kept us informed with updates throughout the stay. The boys were well taken care of, as was our house. We would definitely book with Nicole again in the future!

This was our first time hiring Deborah to stay with our dogs and it certainly won’t be the last. It’s been a mixed bag when hiring dog sitters through Rover, but with Deborah’s great reviews we took a chance and were absolutely blown away. Deborah met with us beforehand to meet us and the dogs. She asked us lots of great questions and took thorough notes as we spoke. Then she met with us again the day before to go over everything once more. Her thoroughness and willingness to make sure our dogs were well cared for made us confident leaving them in her care. She sent us regular updates and photos while we were away and it was clear our dogs were very comfortable with her. She took them on walks multiple times a day, and was so attentive to their needs, making sure their schedule remained similar to how it is when we’re home. Then, upon our return, our house was just how we left it (maybe even a little cleaner!) and our dogs were so happy. Deciding to travel is hard for us because it’s so tough to find a good dog sitter, but we’re excited (and I know the dogs are as well) for the next time we have a trip so we can rehire Deborah. We were truly able to relax knowing our dogs were in her care!
