“Sky loved having a backyard for the weekend with Emily! I loved being able to see her have fun for the weekend with videos and pictures. Super flexible with drop-off and pick-up times which was much appreciated!!”

“Micki and the fam have treated our Bentley like their own. They’re extremely flexible, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. There’s a reason you have so many repeat customers!! ♥️”

“Tiffany and her family are great with our little Ronnie. He is well taken care of and he really has a lot of fun there. We check to see if Tiffany’s available before we consider anyone else to take care of our baby boy! Ronnie is always happy and relaxed after his stay with Tiffany!”

About: I have taken care of cats and dogs since I was five. I grew up on a farm and understand the anxiety that a pet owner has when going on vacation and finding someone to love their pet as they love them. Well, have no fear! I am here to save the day! I am a school teacher by day and dog caregiver by night! I am happy to spend all my afternoons with your pupper or kitty cat! School is starting so availability unfortunately has become a bit more limited, but I will do everything to work with you and to care for your dear sweet fur baby regardless! I will travel to your home to ensure that your pet is in a familiar space. I will give them daily snuggles, walks and attention. I will treat your pet as if they were my own loving on them and treating them. I am happy to take them on daily walks, to the park and to stay the night at your place.
“Christian was wonderful! Extremely responsive, easy to contact, friendly, and organized. He sent us updates throughout the stay and we felt very relaxed knowing our dog was in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“It’s difficult to find a place that will love on your pup and spoil her like you do at home — DL & Libby R gave our pup all the attention and love she needed and more. She was well taken care of and felt safe in their home. The pictures and updates made us feel at ease and will be treasured additions to our own photos. Thank you DL & Libby R!!! ?❤️?”

“We have been using Rover for many years for our miniature golden doodle who is now 12 years old. We recently had to find a new sitter when our previous sitter was no longer available. I have to say we were lucky to find Josh. He took our Charley in for a week stay and treated her just like his own. She felt very at ease with him and felt right at home. She seemed to enjoy her stay there and I would highly recommend Josh. He did an outstanding job. Thank you Josh.”

“Steve was an exceptionally good dog sitter for our two dogs. They had never spent overnights with a different person, so we were not sure how it would go, but Steve was really good with them. He sent us texts and pictures more than once a day to reassure us they were in good shape. He was kind and friendly with them, going above and beyond to care for them. We highly recommend Steve and will certainly seek him out for future sittings.”

About: I am a responsible college student athlete who is very active and loves to be around pets. I have grown up with 1-3 pets in the house my whole life, and I have learned to take care of them to the best of my abilities. I have gotten used to doing the many duties involved with taking care of a pet, including picking up waste. My summer is busy enough to create a schedule to keep me organized, but I have more than enough free time to take care of your pet(s)! I have always been a lover of bigger dogs, which is the size of dog I have the most experience with, but I have been a dog-sitter for small dogs too. I am open and comfortable with a variety!
“Laura and her family worked out great for our 2 pups. She was available on short notice and was a very good communicator, which we really appreciated. We scheduled a meet/greet prior to the booking and were very comfortable with Laura, her 2 pups, and her home. Our pups really enjoyed playing in her fenced backyard and lounging on her deck. When indoors, Laura’s home was super comfortable and accommodating for their needs. We would definitely recommend Laura’s services and rebook with her, if needed.”

“Nicole was great! She was communicative, reliable, and our pup was clearly well taken care of. She sent updates throughout the day which we really appreciated. Would definitely book again!”

I am available most days and can schedule around my classes so feel free to request anything! I currently am not able to care for pets in my house, but am available to provide animal care in clients home. I can also walk dogs!!
“Charlie always has a great time with Sidney, who goes out of her way to make life super fun for dogs! Kiddy pools, ball pits, and hikes! We know Charlie had a great time and was well-loved!”
“Savannah is awesome! She was super flexible and accommodating with my changing schedule. My dogs were so comfortable with her and her pups. My little dog can be spunky at times and doesn’t always warm up to others right away, but she went back to so bye to Savannah after she was already out the door. I have never seen her do this with anyone but me!”

I cannot say enough good things about Auden! We booked with very short notice on a holiday weekend. The whole weekend I was continuously updated with picture and videos of Ellie playing and relaxing! We will definitely be rebooking with Auden any time we are back in Iowa City!

Laylah is an amazing pet sitter. She took care of our 13 year old shihtzu while we were out of town and he was so well taken care of by her! She was great at communicating with us, always very responsive in a timely manner. She shared videos and photos of our pup every day. She also offered to take him to the dog park and for walks, making sure he was comfortable and safe. I also appreciated Laylah’s flexibility and willingness to work with us the entire time. I was nervous about using Rover, this was our first time and I absolutely recommend not only the app but especially Laylah. Thank you! Gisele

I needed a last minute booking and she answered and arranged things immediately. My dog seemed half and well groomed and fed when I pick him up. I also got daily updates and cute/silly photos of him. She was really helpful and there when me and my pets needed someone the most. Overall I’d booked with her if you want guaranteed satisfaction, and knowing your pet will gets lots of love and cuddles while your away :)

Annayah took such good care of our labradoodle while we were away for a week! We especially appreciated the responsiveness when booking as our original dog-sitting plans fell through just days before our trip. Our dog had never been away from us and he showed no signs of anxiety or stress when we picked him up, he got right back into routine at home. Would definitely book with Annayah again next time we have a chance to travel.

Teagan is AMAZING. Isabella is a complicated 4 pound Chinese Crested with a spicy personality. Typically she doesn’t take to anyone until she met Teagan. Teagan instantly knew how to interact with Isabella making her comfortable at first introduction. Teagan kept me updated with Isabella’s progress. I thought Isabella would have a meltdown but that didn’t happen. When I picked Isabella up she seemed to be aware that she achieved a major milestone-she made a friend.❤️🥹❤️ I can’t recommend Teagan enough-she’s incredible, kind, professional, smart, and intuitive. She’s our go to choice for Isabella!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
