“Micki and the fam have treated our Bentley like their own. They’re extremely flexible, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. There’s a reason you have so many repeat customers!! ♥️”

“Ming and Makenna were awesome! This was my first time using Rover and the first time I'd left my dog for an extended time and it went so smoothly. Ming and Makenna sent daily pictures, videos, and updates and I had no doubt that Bentley was having a great time playing with other pups and enjoying lots of time outside. I highly, highly recommend them!”

About: I have grown up with dogs and animals of all sizes my whole life! I currently have a family dog back at home in Illinois (cavachon, 6 years old) who I miss taking care of deeply. I am in med school here in Iowa city for the summer and have very flexible hours, weekends, and payment choices! As I mentioned earlier, I am an ultrasound student in Iowa City Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. I have certain days off through the week / available almost every weekend! I live at a graduate student / health care worker apartment complex with a dog park and lots of grass and greenery / walking trails all around the complex! Very animal friendly buildings. I also live alone and have a lot of space!
“Tiffany was amazing with my dog! She was communicative, reliable, and clearly cared about making sure everything went smoothly. I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in great hands and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

About: I have years of experience with dogs, from puppies to seniors. I have trained several dogs and have experience working with dogs with health conditions. I also have experience administering dogs their medications. I am a teacher and currently work part-time in the summer. I have plenty of flexibility throughout the week, weekend, and during the school year. I have a gated off patio for dogs to play in. If they are in the yard, I will have them on their leash to ensure safety. Please provide a crate.
About: I live on a farm back home & have over a decade of animal care of all kinds! I have many farm cats and two dogs at home, as well as two cats that live with me! I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes & would love to spend time with your best friend! I would especially love to hang out with dogs as I don’t want to get my own until I can give them a fenced in yard:) My boyfriend Gabe also helps out with the pet care! I am pretty free all summer & I can give as much or as little attention as your pet requires! I’m available to do random walks throughout the day or stay full time at your residence to give 24/7 care to your pet. I would like to follow your routine as much as possible, so honestly whatever you do with your pet I will copy! It’s important to keep their routines from changing frequently!
“My dog Chloe immediately took to Ty's calm good nature. Ty has great communication and proved to be an excellent dog-sitter! He went above and beyond when he watched her an extra night and day while we were stranded from a snow storm. Would highly recommend him!”

“This was our first time “boarding” our dogs, and though we don’t have much to compare to, we are very pleased with and appreciative of the care provided. From the moment we met them I knew we could trust them to give our pups the care we hoped for while we were on vacation. Our dogs are so lucky! Jasper and Copper had as good a vacation as we did! They seemed happy and we loved getting updates on how things were going. Thank you for such genuine top notch care.”

“I was so pleased with Sidney. My dog had a great time during her stay! It was like a summer camp for dogs...so many trips to the dog park and relaxing in kiddie pools! Sidney's dog J.C. was also a great companion for my dog. Sidney was also a great communicator. I received numerous updates, pictures, and videos. I would definitely book with Sidney again!”
“Christian was wonderful! Extremely responsive, easy to contact, friendly, and organized. He sent us updates throughout the stay and we felt very relaxed knowing our dog was in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Very accommodating and helpful was in a tough position just moving into the state and the Holidays coming up. I didnt have much time to plan but Keneth and his family were superb in helping me with Benji.”

“Alex really enjoyed his stay with Myle. She gave the right amount of pictures to show how he is doing. He be came friend with her dogs. We will ask for more dog stays in the future. Thank you for taking care of Alex. Gave us comfort knowing he is doing good. 😀”

“This was the first time we used Rover, and I was so happy that we found Kasey and her family. It was obvious from the moment I met her and her family that they loved caring for animals. Pepper enjoyed his stay and was given such great care. Kasey was such a great communicator- I received several pictures and updates that made me realize that he was getting lots of attention and love. This really helped calmed my worries regarding him while I was away. I can't say enough great things about Kasey and her family but was so grateful for their willingness to take care of my dog like he was their own. Would definitely book with Kasey again- she was wonderful!”

“My dog had a great time with Gillian and her crew of pups. Gillian is detailed in her communication and is very knowledgeable about dog training through positive reinforcement. We are excited for the next time.”

About: Hi, My name is Meaghan P. I have two cats of my own, Gandalf & Luna. I've had them since they were kittens and now they're seven years old. I've grown up around both cats and dogs. Even hamsters and turtles! I worked as a receptionist at a veterinary clinic for the past year. I love meeting new pets and clients. I also have some experience assisting in nail trims (for both animals) and administering oral medications for my own cats. I understand the importance of exercise and a healthy diet. I am prepared to follow your rules and guidance when it comes to your pet. I am also experienced in detecting abnormal behaviors/symptoms. I will make sure to update you after each drop-in and walk to let you know of your pets status. If I see anything out of the norm, I will notify you immediately so your pet can get the proper care it needs. I'd love to get to know both you and your furry friend.
“I needed a last minute booking and she answered and arranged things immediately. My dog seemed half and well groomed and fed when I pick him up. I also got daily updates and cute/silly photos of him. She was really helpful and there when me and my pets needed someone the most. Overall I’d booked with her if you want guaranteed satisfaction, and knowing your pet will gets lots of love and cuddles while your away :)”

“Nathan watched our Basenji for the first time for 3 nights while we were on vacation. She got along with his two dogs as they roamed about his fenced in backyard and cuddled inside. He sent pictures and was flexible when our flight home was delayed. Bonus was that he lives less than 10 min from our house.”

Annayah took such good care of our labradoodle while we were away for a week! We especially appreciated the responsiveness when booking as our original dog-sitting plans fell through just days before our trip. Our dog had never been away from us and he showed no signs of anxiety or stress when we picked him up, he got right back into routine at home. Would definitely book with Annayah again next time we have a chance to travel.

She was so wonderful for our Doxie! He is a difficult dog due to medical issues and she took care of every need very responsibly. He spent almost a month with her and she kept us informed and sent many pictures as he had never been left that long before. I highly recommend her
Nelson was great, as always. He helped us when we desperately needed doggy care over the first part of Spring Break and our kennel was full. He was very understanding when we were delayed getting back because of a blizzard! Indy was happy and well cared for. Will definitely use Nelson again!

Teagan is AMAZING. Isabella is a complicated 4 pound Chinese Crested with a spicy personality. Typically she doesn’t take to anyone until she met Teagan. Teagan instantly knew how to interact with Isabella making her comfortable at first introduction. Teagan kept me updated with Isabella’s progress. I thought Isabella would have a meltdown but that didn’t happen. When I picked Isabella up she seemed to be aware that she achieved a major milestone-she made a friend.❤️🥹❤️ I can’t recommend Teagan enough-she’s incredible, kind, professional, smart, and intuitive. She’s our go to choice for Isabella!

I had the best experience leaving my dog in Asha's care! She went above and beyond, providing regular updates throughout the day and even sending adorable pictures so I could see how much fun my dog was having. Honestly, I think my dog was a little upset to leave—he had such a great time with Asha! I’m so grateful for the care and attention she gave him, and I will definitely be using her services again in the future. Highly recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
