“Amanda’s communication was excellent and we discussed my dog’s feeding schedule and needs and she made sure to accommodate. I also received several cute photos during his stay. I could tell he was happy when I went to pick him up. Definitely recommend!”

“Stacy did an AWESOME job with my 1 year old (LARGE) dog, Jemma. She worked with her on commands that we'd been working on and gave her lots of love! She sent pictures every day and was very easy to work with. She is great with animals and was able to watch Jemma for a week while I was travelling - what a life saver she is!!!!”

“Adela was great as always! She took great care of Ollie, sent frequent pictures, and was flexible when travel plans changed. We love knowing that our dog is in good hands when we are away!”

“Shannon and her family were so amazing with our pups! We got daily updates with pictures of them enjoying their time away from home. Definitely would recommend for anyone and will return the next time we someone to watch our pups!”
“We think Erin is great and would book again. It’s nice knowing you can leave town and your pet is well taken care of. Erin sent us pictures of Winston while we were away and that was so nice because we sure missed our boy! When we got home Winston got to play with other pups and he loves that, I think he was sad he had to come home.”

“Paul was awesome! My doggies had a great time and I know they were well cared for. Winnie was so tired at pick up, so I know she played a lot with his little dog which gave Ellie some time to relax. Appreciated the update during the stay to make sure all was well! Thank you Paul! Especially with a short notice weekend stay for two doggies. Thank you!”
“Our little Ronnie was comfortable with Sana the first time he met her. She gave him her undivided attention the entire time he stayed with her. She walked him over 2 1/2 miles during the day and we believe he loved every minute of it. She even got up at 3 am with Ronnie to make sure he got outside to go potty. She sent photos of Ronnie so we could see how good he was doing while we were away from him. We highly recommend Sana and we will be looking for Sana, first, every time we need a dog sitter for Ronnie. Thank you Sana!”

“Laylah was incredibly flexible and responsive to our changing needs. I appreciated how she communicated with me in a timely manner via text and phone. It is obvious she takes her job of keeping pets safe and happy very seriously.”

“Anastasiia was EXCELLENT!! Communication was great and she included daily pictures and videos. My dog has anxiety during storms and she was very compassionate with him. I couldn’t be happier with the way she treated Chipper!!”

“Amanda does a fantastic job watching our puppy. It’s a huge stress reliever while on vacation, knowing that she is being cared for. Amanda gives great updates, including pictures. Can’t recommend her enough!!”

“Thank you so much for taking good care of Ash and Hazel with their anxiety issues. They look happy and playful coming back home. Thanks to Rikka and Peggy for sharing their space with them. Hazel and Ash would love to spend time with them next time. Highly recommend for homely stay!!”

“Ashleigh was absolutely amazing , attentive , and I didnt worry for one second Mana was not in good hands… I will always reach out to her - She deserves a 10 rating”

“Nicole took such amazing care of my dog, Chiquito! ❤️ She was so kind, patient, and loving with him, and it gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. She kept me updated, treated him like her own, and made sure he felt comfortable and happy the entire time. Chiquito can be a little shy at first, but he warmed up to Nicole so quickly, which says a lot about how caring she is. I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter. I highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely loving with animals. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of my little Chiquito! 🐶💕”

“Jamie is such a GOLD/DIAMOND STAR sitter. I messaged her at 9PM about an emergency pick up because my current dog sitter was not taking a good care of my dog when I was out of town. We never work with each other before but she was so responsive and was ready to pick my dog up at 9AM the next day! Less than 12 hours of notice! She gave multiple updates with pictures and video throughout the day. I feel bad sometimes because I don’t even response to them as much as she send them! She asked for dietary restrictions, patient with my dog when she first met him. She even gave him food topper from her own! He is eating better than when he is with me! When I have a delay to return, she make sure that my dog is actually being put in a good hand and not with the old dog sitter who did not treat him right. I feel so safe to have my baby in her care because she has such a great heart. I would 100% work with Jamie again! Her price is so affordable for the quality of care that she provides!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fairfax
Nadine was so amazing with my Stella. Stella is a timid and scared Chihuahua until she warms up and Nadine worked at her pace, making sure she was comfortable until she came out of her shell. She sent me daily updates and progress reports. I will definitely be using Nadine for future sits.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
