“Benjamin was extremely kind and understanding when we had to cancel in the middle of the booking due to an emergency! We will definitely be booking him again in the future.”

“Could not have asked for a better experience. Felt like we had a friend watching Max. Very personable and can tell she loves animals. Will definitely see if she is available any time we need someone for him.”

“Excellent provider! She was great with our dogs! And she was patient with our little guy who’s terrified of strangers and often acts out. We will definitely hire her again!”

“Savannah came weekly to let my dog Miller out during the day while I was working in town the last few months. She always sent lots of photos and updates on how each visit went. Miller loved her visits every time, running around playing fetch with his favorite ball! Savannah had great communication and was able to do a few last minute requests when I picked up a shift. We really appreciated having her!”

About: I grew up surrounded by animals from dogs and cats to chickens and so caring for pets has been second nature for as long as I can remember. As an adult, I have volunteered at multiple animal rescue centers and was able to rescue and raise 2 wonderful dogs who were a huge part of our lives until they passed. More recently, I’ve worked as a house and pet sitter through TrustedHouseSitters, where homeowners regularly rely on me to care for both their homes and their beloved animals while they’re away. Whether your pet needs dedicated supervision, routine medications, or overnight care, I treat every pet in my care with the same patience, attention, and love I’d give my own. What I Offer Active Dog Walking All Ages & Sizes: Comfortable handling everything from high-energy puppies to large dogs up to 110 pounds. Specialized Care: Experienced in oral and topical medication administration, house sitting, and maintaining consistent daily schedules. Peace of Mind: Honest, dependable care for both your pets and your home while you're away. I'm currently working in a contract capacity and so my schedule is incredibly flexible! This means that I can adapt my work schedule around your pet's needs! I have a clean, safe, non-smoking, multi-level home in Asheville North Carolina with a small unfenced yard with my husband, Jeff. My home is close to trails and walking paths so me and your beloved pet will have plenty of opportunities to get our daily exercise. When your pet is staying in my home they will have free reign of the home if that's something they're accustomed to! However, if your furry friend has limitations such as crate training requirements, we can certainly accommodate that too! I currently have no other pets, so your pet would be king or queen of the house during thier stay!
“Grace took amazing care of my cat while I was away, providing the love and care he needed to feel safe and the clear communication and responsiveness I need to have peace of mind. From the first interaction, Grace took the time to provide a professional and attentive service, including a meet and greet beforehand to make sure she took care of my cat exactly how I liked. She also watered/watched my garden and kept everything looking great, an extra perk! I have no complaints and will rebook Grace for the next time I'm out of town. Thank you again, Grace!”

“I couldn’t be happier with Natasha and how well she cared for our cats and sugar glider. She is very attentive, meticulous and our cats love her calming energy. So thankful to have found someone so kind and responsible that we can trust while we are away. Will definitely rebook with her again!”

“Jeanene was absolutely fantastic! I feel like I hit the jackpot cuz she was able to accommodate my cat on such short notice. She was super responsive and a great communicator. It was a huge relief knowing Puff was well cared for while I was away. The peace of mind Jeanene provided was worth it and more. Thank you!!”

“Jacqueline took wonderful care of my cats while I was on holiday vacation. The cats really benefited from the multiple visits and time she took with them. It’s a big relief to have such a trusted and friendly Petsitter.”

“Ellie was great! She took great care of our cats, including giving medication. She took great pictures of the kitties which helped with how much we missed them. She demonstrated a lot of affection for the cats.”

“Can't say enough good things about Maria. She took great care of my cat and dog while I was away for a long weekend. She took my dog on long walks, romps in the snow, car rides, and provided belly rubs. I couldn't have asked for anything more. She truly was the best sitter I've come across on Rover thus far.”
“Bradly did a great job watching our two dogs while we were out of town for a few days. We had him drop in 3 times a day. He arrived promptly at the designated times, fed, walked and played with our pups. He is very kind and responsive giving us comfort that they were getting the attention they need. Our English Springer Spaniel is full of energy and Brad was able to give him the play time fetching sticks to burn off some of his energy. We live on a few acres so having someone that is also active was important to us. We trusted Bradly with our home and pets and would definitely use him again.”

About: Experienced dog mom, I have many years of dog sitting, walking, and loving under my belt. I genuinely enjoy time spent with animals and love to walk. I have experience with both puppies and senior dogs, as well as many varied breeds. There is no dog too big or too small for me to take care of for you :) I recently sold my business and have a very flexible schedule so I have plenty of time to walk and play with your babies. I’m available same day as needed as well. I’m not available late night. I come to you so your animal feels safest in their own home and environment. I have reliable transportation if you need me to take your pup anywhere as well.
“Antoinette was so helpful and flexible! We had a last minute change where I had to find someone quick and she was there able to roll with the quickness. She was kind and considerate and a great choice!”

“Chris was wonderful with Vittles! We had the chance to meet him beforehand and immediately found him to be a very kind and gentle person. Vittles clearly felt the same way and was very comfortable with him. Chris kept to Vittles’ schedule, communicated well, and sent us regular updates and pictures while we were away. It gave us great peace of mind knowing Vittles was in such caring hands. We definitely recommend Chris as a pet sitter and plan to have him care for Vittles again!”

“Isabel took great care of Chai, and I could see from all of the pictures that Chai was thoroughly enjoying Isabel's company! Isabel was very consistent, prompt, communicative, and sent plenty of photos for updates. Everything was left very clean as well. I would definitely recommend her services and book with her again!”

About: I’ve cared for a wide range of dog breeds, sizes, and personalities, and I truly love them all. I’m the sitter who can keep up with high-energy pups, take your dog on long “hot girl walks,” and make sure they feel entertained, safe, and loved the whole time. I treat every pet like my own and I’m extremely reliable, attentive, and communicative. You can expect frequent updates and tons of cute photos so you always know how your fur baby is doing. I currently work part-time with flexible, rotating hours, which gives me plenty of availability for pet sitting and dog walking. I love taking both morning and nighttime walks, so exercise timing is never an issue. I’m very open to working around your pet’s routine, and I’m always happy to discuss what you need to make sure your dog or cat gets consistent, loving care. When I’m in your home, my top priorities are safety, respect, and maintaining your pet’s normal routine. I follow all instructions carefully—feeding schedules, medication, crate time, walking routes, and any house rules you set. I always make sure doors, gates, and crates are secure, and I double-check everything before leaving. I keep your pet comfortable by sticking to what they know: their space, their toys, their habits. I offer plenty of love, attention, and play, and I’m very communicative so you’ll always know how your pet is doing. You can expect regular photo updates, honest check-ins, and the peace of mind that your home and your pet are being treated with the same care I’d give my own.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Happy Valley
We decided to take a trip to Biltmore and take our sweet dog Nina along. This was the first time we left her with a sitter we didn't know personally in her 15-year lifespan. I knew Neil was Nina's new friend, as soon as I saw her face. Neil's vibe is very steady and kind, he helped Nina feel comfortable during the visits. It's hard for us to leave her, but it was easy to see that they were quick friends and Nina felt comfortable, which is rare because she's a skeptical girl. Do not hesitate to choose Neil for your furry lovies. Thank you Neil!

Sherrie was a great pet sitter for us when we needed someone to hang with our dogs in a downtown hotel while we attended a family wedding. She communicated so promptly when we were setting up the pet sitting. She arrived early and immediately seemed so comfortable with our doodles. We would highly recommend Sherrie and will use her again if the needs arises when we travel to the Asheville area.
Becky was wonderful to work with! She showed up right on time for the meet and greet with our dog and was very knowledgeable about administering medications. Everything went like clockwork for the appointment and knowing that she was taking care of our pup allowed us to enjoy our evening out. I will not hesitate to contact her again the next time we need help.

I highly recommend James for your pet care needs! He is very responsible and willing to do whatever comes up; eg, the power went out while we were away and he enquired about anything we needed to be done around the house in response to that. He was perfectly attentive to our cat’s needs and very communicative. He made us feel very safe while we were gone!

Jen has been an exceptional pet sitter for our cat on several occasions. Her consistent ability to show up and provide comfort and daily task to Miss Pipi Ann has brought peace of mind to our family during a difficult time. Jen has taken ownership of the duties and shown total respect for our home. She bonded quickly with our senior feline and reported daily on her well being. We will absolutely continue to have Jen in our home and seek her out when care is needed for our most precious fur baby.

Jessie is the ultimate professional: a skilled trainer, compassionate, prepared and protective, kind and considerate, and always willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our animals, home, plants, and us humans. Jessie has cared for our pets and house on several occasions now, the most recent being for 3 weeks while we were out of the country. We could rest completely assured that Jessie was on top of whatever happened while we were away (the water being turned off to the house, severe storms!) and that our pets were in the best hands possible. We cannot recommend Jessie highly enough!

Benjamin was a wonderful pet sitter! We recently moved to a new neighborhood and needed to quickly find a new cat sitter. We are so pleased to have chosen him to care for our finicky cat Flo Flo while we were away on a family trip. He was reliable, punctual and very easy to communicate with. He went above and beyond to help with checking on some small house tasks as well. We are so pleased to have a new friend and reliable pet sitter right down the street in our new neighborhood! Thank you Benjamin!

Carolyn was the perfect sitter for our three cats -- she came on time every day that was scheduled and left us updates, and multiple pictures and videos! It was something we looked forward to every few days during our honeymoon! Carolyn was also very responsive and communicative.
Maria is awesome! Highest possible recommendation. She is new to Rover but she has been house sitting for us for years and is the best house sitter we've ever had! Not only is Maria a superb animal caretaker and house sitter, she is who you want taking care of your house if something goes wrong. Over the years she has house sat for us, she's delt with plumbing, electrical and AC issues that have popped up while we are traveling. She handled all of them with the utmost care and professionalism. Again, we give Maria our highest recommendation for all pet services!

We’re so lucky to have found Willa. She's someone you just *know* you can trust when you meet them. She took the time to meet our extremely shy cat on his level and care for him in all the ways you could only hope for. Attentive, kind, knowledgeable and above all else - caring. She was responsive from the moment I sent the inquiry and communicated with us during our whole trip (sending lots of updates and pictures). You can rely on her to be there for your pet with patience and love. Genuinely can’t say enough about how wonderful Willa is. You won’t be disappointed and your fur babies will thank you!

Liliana was amazing! She communicated with me weeks before her visit to take notes and confirmed everything again the week she came. She sent tons of pictures during her visit and it’s clear my furbaby was smitten with her! I will definitely book with her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
