“Ines did drop in visits with our new adult dog, Ducky, who was working on potty training. And also our other dog, Fievel. She followed the instructions on how to take both of our dogs out to potty in a way that was safe for the two of them! She gave detailed follow ups after each drop in”

“Adrienne is great! Def our new regular pet sitter. She’s super sweet, loves the fur babies (and they love her) and was professional and easy to communicate with. She’s came by for a meet and greet too, which was great. Did the drop ins exactly when and how asked. Her close proximity and flexible schedule was a big plus for us. Highly recommend!”

“Ginny is the absolute best! You can tell how dedicated she is to animals and how much she loves her job. She also sent the greatest photos! I know my Bouvier was in fantastic hands while I was out of town. Will definitely be using her again!”

“I cannot recommend Savanah highly enough. She was exceptional. From our first meet and greet I knew my cat was in the best possible hands. This was my first experience with a drop in. We had great communication. She took great care with everything I asked. I would not hesitate to recommend her for her services, and I will not hesitate to look for her again when I need her services.”

“This was the first time Shannon did a drop-in to let our dogs out while we were gone for the day and it went great. We didn't have to worry about rushing home cause they were taken care of. Will definitely use her again when we have the need.”

“Jeanene was absolutely fantastic! I feel like I hit the jackpot cuz she was able to accommodate my cat on such short notice. She was super responsive and a great communicator. It was a huge relief knowing Puff was well cared for while I was away. The peace of mind Jeanene provided was worth it and more. Thank you!!”

“Jennifer is lovely and was so patient with my numerous mistakes in going through the process of getting it booked. She was very gentle and sweet with my senior girls and she will definitely be my go to sitter while I am in Asheville.”

“James was great with my wild boys. I needed someone last min and he was on it! He's attentive, communicative, warm and put my dogs at ease. Glad to have found him and will use his services again.”

“Mandolyn was absolutely fantastic! She made quick friends with both of our kitties and went above and beyond on more than one occasion. Only way we'll ever book a different rover is if she's unavailable.”

About: I have been taking care of animals since I was a child. I have a deep love for all animals and do my best to give them all the care and attention they deserve. My schedule is flexible, so I available any day od the week. I work full time, but I am able to still meet the needs of most pets pretty well! I make sure to provide my animals with ample playtime and stimulation. I always clean up after them properly and keep anything that may be a threat to their health out of sight and out of mind!
“I adopted my dog fairly recently so I was nervous about leaving her with someone else for the weekend, but Megan was extremely attentive and made me feel comfortable on day 1! She was wonderful about providing updates and asking about details I hadn't even considered. I have a cat as well and I could tell they were both very fond of her by the end of the weekend. I would definitely recommend Megan to anybody looking for a petsitter.”

About: I'm that go to friend that everyone always asks to love on their pets while they are busy or out of town. I've had all sorts of pets in my life too. No requests to weird. I love to send selfies of your furbabies so you know they are safe and happy. I live in west Asheville and am able to travel to close towns. I have taken care of the special needs of animals I cared for. Pills and special food is all good. I do require a meet up drop in visit before we book a stay. I want to meet you and your pet in their own home and learn about their particular needs. This is so we both feel that your fur baby is being cared for the way they are used to. Less stress for pets and pet parents this way. I do work outside of pet sitting, but still have free time for pets. Im available for overnight stays as well. I will treat your home as I would my own. And yes I can bring in the mail(or packages) for you too. I appreciate written care instructions. That way if there is ever an emergency I can take the best possible care of your pet in a timely manner. LGBTQ+ friendly (obviously lol)
“Another fantastic experience with Adaira! This was our longest trip away from the dogs (9 days) and Adaira made it completely stress free for us. She always goes above and beyond and provides great care to our pupsand our home. Highly recommended A++”

About: I've taken care of many dogs, cats, fish, and even the occasional bird. I had my own pet sitting side business while I was in college in Tampa and have missed I ever since I moved!! I am currently looking to switch careers so my appointment book will be pretty open in the near future. I'd love for this to develop into my full time job. I am currently renting so I'm not offering boarding services. But I'm offering drop in visits not only to walk, feed, and clean up after pets but to spend some time with them so they are not lonely
About: I have over twenty years’ experience as a volunteer at local animal shelters. I work mostly with large dogs from walking to training to fostering. In addition, I have an 16yr old cat and experience with fostering kittens. In addition to taking care of your pet(s), I will happily provide care of your home as well - getting mail, taking out garbage, watering plants, etc. Happy to send you my FB page, where you’ll find reviews. I work full time Monday through Friday but am happy to stop by in the morning and at night. Each visit can be up to an hour long. I adhere to the pets’ routine and make them as comfortable as possible. This means keeping the same schedule, food, treats, and snuggles. The goal is for you to not worry about them because they’re in good hands and come back to a happy pet!

“Ariel went above and beyond while we were gone for a week. Betty and Rocco were very happy when we came back and the house and the yard looked great. Will definitely use her again soon.”

“I will absolutely book with Alice again. She showed up when she said she would and, most importantly, communicated perfectly. I feel much more at ease going on vacation now knowing that Alice will be taking care of my pup!”

We had such a wonderful experience with Kylie! She took amazing care of our dog while we were away and gave us complete peace of mind. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
