“We've booked with Savanah twice now to look after our 2 cats! She is extremely attentive, punctual and communicative! The boys always look like they are having fun when she's over (even our shy one), and we will not hesitate to book with her again! She is so attentive!”

“Tabitha was great with my special needs pet. Tabitha followed instructions and showed up when she was scheduled to. Great communication and will re book in the future. I felt confident with my fur baby in Tabitha’s hands.”
“Sadi was absolutely phenomenal! This was my first Rover experience and the bar is set so high. My dog can be a handful at times, but Sadi sent many pictures/updates, which really eased my nerves and was very quick to respond to any messages. 10/10 recommend Sadi to watch your fur babies while away. ❤️”

About: I have taken care of my dog for the last 9 years since she was a puppy. I am patient and kind and treat every animal like they are family. I work a typical 9-5 full time job, but have plenty of time to take care of your pet before or after work and on the weekends. I also understand things come up in life and would be happy to help short notice. I always make sure there is nothing harmful that a pet could get into and I always have an eye on them but make sure they have the freedom to hang out and for their own thing.
About: I have always been a dog person. People at work call me the dog whisperer. I have so much love and patience to give. I have trained my dog since he was a puppy and I have taken care of senior dogs as well. I am currently fully focused on pet care. My daily and weekly schedule is very flexible and easy to work around. This more time with furry friends the better! I have a Furbo if I am not home. I think the most important part is attention and love towards any pet. Making sure they have exercise and relief.
“Ingrid and Ty are awesome! They were able to accommodate our last minute needs with ease and grace. On top of that, we have 4 needy dogs that require extra behavioral attention. Our babies took to them very easily and we felt so computable knowing our babies were getting extra special care when we work long shifts. We will definitely be booking with Ty and Ingrid again and I look forward to more of the super cute pictures they’re able to get! Thank you both so soo so much!!!!”

“Isabel was super sweet to my kitties and went above and beyond to help them stay comfortable while we were out of town. We highly recommend her and plan to use her again soon! :)”

“So grateful for Kristen and how she communicates when looking after Rosie and Pete! She makes travel for work so much less stressful just knowing she is there for them. And they love her too! Thank you!”

About: We both love animals of all kinds. We have always had pets in our lives and have loved being dog sitters for friends and family over the years. We are currently the proud parents of two wonderful dogs, Honeybee and Charlie. We have experience with special care for senior dogs. Our dog Carlos was blind and deaf for the last few years of his life, and had diabetes, requiring insulin shots every 12 hours. We have some dog training skills and have helped Honeybee on her path, starting as a wild rescue puppy to being the well-behaved young lady that she is now. We believe in positive reinforcement training and understand dog behavior enough to know when to step in and intervene. I (Ethan) am currently working a very flexible schedule of driving for Uber and Lyft. My schedule allows me to be home often and to stop by and check on Charlie and Honeybee and any visiting dogs frequently when I am working. If we have doggy daycare clients I am able to stay home all day. Hope is around on evenings and weekends and is always ready for playtime and snuggles with the pups. I am currently sharing residence with my partner Hope (who loves dogs as much as I do!) and she shares in the care of all the dogs. We have a large, fenced-in yard in the heart of West Asheville. We won’t leave your dogs outdoors unattended and will respect any special requirements as to the safety of your beloved babies. We understand the need for routine in a dog's life and will be happy to abide by whatever feeding/medication schedule, exercise needs, etc. that your dog has.

About: I have had dogs in my house for my whole life, and worked doggy daycare for Dog-Gone Rite. I feel I have plenty of experience and I love to be around animals. I am currently working from home so I have plenty of time to take care of your pets. I am available all weekdays as my work is not intensive. I like to sit with pets and watch them to ensure their safety as well as keeping them on a leash at all times outside.
“Kaysee had great communication with me despite me being out of service most of the time. I was also able to add a day at the last minute. Thanks for looking out for Lucky so well.”

“Autumn took great care of my 3 cats . This was the second time I had Autumn do daily visits and I highly recommend her as a reliable and thorough pet sitter. She responded quickly to any questions I had and I was able to relax and enjoy my trip knowing they were doing just fine ! She also brought in my mail and packages and sent photos each visit .”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats in my life since I was a toddler. I’ve always been a big pet lover and currently have two dogs and three cats of my own. I understand every pet is unique and has their own personalities and I treat every pet as if they were my own. I have pet sat for neighbors and friends since I was a teenager! I am easy to work with and very responsible, I’m here for whatever you need! I currently work part time, so I have plenty of extra time on my hands! My schedule is very flexible so I can adjust to your needs! I can watch your pet in their own familiar environment to hopefully keep them from having the fear and anxiety of being in a new home, I’ll try to keep your usual routine! I will show them lots of love while engaging them in whatever playful activities they prefer!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woodside Hills
Kimberly has always put my mind at ease when we have to go away. This most recent time was the first time we had gone away since one of our dog's had passed, and I was very nervous about leaving our other dog. Kimberly communicated with me frequently and Ophelia loves hanging out with her. Thank you!!!

10 stars, not just 5! Lilie was a great caretaker for our high energy Boston Terrier while we were visiting the Asheville area. Very flexible and very easy to work with for our dog. This was the first time using Rover and definitely a great experience. Thx, Lilie!

Absolutely outstanding. Can't recommend Kate highly enough. She takes kitty care to a whole new level. We felt lucky to have Kate take care of our cat. She thinks of everything, lots of toys, fun videos and plenty of pictures. You just don't worry at all about your pet. I came home to a really happy cat.

Jane was amazing with our cats! She was so communicative and went above and beyond to make sure they stayed warm during the below freezing temps while we were out of town. She was very sweet with the cats and made sure to give each of them attention. We will absolutely be using her again!!

This was my first time using Rover and a friend recommended Shay to me to look after my two senior kitties. Let me just say that my orange tabby NEVER comes out for anyone but he came out for Shay. She is some sort of magical cat whisperer I swear. She also sent me some of the best photos and videos! Communication was very clear and my babies were so well taken care of. I get so nervous leaving them but it was a huge weight off my shoulders knowing Shay was taking great care of them. I will definitely be booking with her in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
