“I usually leave my dog, Ginger, with a familiar sitter, but they were unavailable this time — and I am so glad we found Tatiana instead! She was truly a godsend. From day one, she was warm, responsive, and professional. I received daily updates and adorable photos, which gave me complete peace of mind throughout Ginger’s stay. Ginger looked happy, relaxed, and well-loved when I picked her up, and it was clear she had a wonderful time. She even made new friends with Tatiana’s dog and cat — which says a lot, because Ginger is a bit picky with her buddies! Thank you so much, Tatiana, for taking such great care of Ginger. I will absolutely book with you again and recommend you to anyone looking for a loving and reliable sitter!”

“Laura was so great with Teddy! He loved playing with Gin!!! You can tell she really cares, and we felt totally comfortable leaving him with her. Selfishly, I almost don’t want to tell people how awesome she is 😉 We’d definitely book with her again if she’ll have him!”

“Tyson was well taken care of while we were on vacation for a week. Renee sent me photos everyday showing how spoiled he was getting! He had an amazing time and was exhausted after I picked him up. Thank you!”

“When I met Chris prior to leaving my dog with him, I felt confident leaving my 10 year old beagle in his hands because I could sense he genuinely cares and loves for animals. Toby immediately gravitated to him. During his stay, Chris provided daily updates with pictures; they went on nice long trail walks, enjoyed couch cuddles, and relaxed. I definitely recommend using Chris for your pets next stay!”
“Took great care of my large, anxious dog! Maria was very responsive and sent lots of pictures and updates. Would absolutely feel comfortable boarding with her again.”

“This was the first time that we sent Lasso to Sophia's house. Lasso had a good time there. He got twice long walk per day and he played in the yard happily with other dogs. Lasso was a picky eater and Sophia tried very, very hard to feed him. We just hope that she can be more successful like we do at home to get him to eat two meals a day. But, we truly appreciate her effort and intent of trying and she took good care for Lasso throughout his stay for near three days. We definitely felt safe and comfortable by sending Lasso to her. Thank you, Sophia!”

“Zeke had a great time at Samantha’s. She gave us constant updates. She took special care of Zeke as he has some hip issues. I glad I found her and would definitely use her services in the future.”

“Katie and Adam were brilliant. We have an old dog and have had issues in the past with nervousness. Sam came home happy and content. We are so happy we've booked again for next month!”

“This was our second time leaving our dog with Eun and he absolutely loves it there. He had a great time playing with her dogs. She sends lots of photos and videos, which really puts us at ease, and she’s super responsive to any questions. Thank you Eun!”

“Valerie is a terrific Rover caregiver for our dog. He has the best time & gets tons of activity. We love the photos & videos that Valerie shares while we are away. I can’t recommend Valerie enough, she’s great with dogs & customer service!”

“we were a first time user to Rover and we were 100% satisfied with our host Karmen for our golden doodle. The host made us completely comfortable so that we could Enjoy our one week’s vacation and was extremely communicative with us during the entire process. We highly recommend her to any person who wants the best care possible! She treated our dog like a family member!”

“Walter and his family were great hosts and caretakers for our dog. They made us feel super comfortable by sending updates and pictures while we were away. We have already asked them to take care of our dog again because of the wonderful care they provided!”

“Finding someone you truly trust with your dog is hard. Finding someone you trust with your elderly dog who requires multiple medications throughout the day? That's nearly impossible — until we found John & Joanna. Our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Lola, is a senior girl with a precise care routine, and we left for a seven-day family vacation knowing that. John and Joanna were fantastic. They never missed a medication. They sent updates that put our minds at ease. And they treated Lola not like a responsibility, but like a member of their own family. These two are the real deal. We are already booking them for our next trip, and we cannot recommend them highly enough. Lola approves. And Lola has high standards.”

“Julianne was an angel! ❤️ She was amazing with our dog, Macy (who can be high maintenance). Communication was top notch with regular updates. I also received occasional photos showing how quickly Macy warmed up to her and the family. Macy seemed bummed to leave Julianne and family, which is so comforting knowing that Macy was in the best of care. ❤️ If you are looking for a sitter, look no further- Julianne is wonderful!”

“Marsha and her husband were excellent sitters for our dog over a holiday weekend. They were welcoming during the meet and greet and instilled confidence that our dog would be well cared for. During the visit, we received photo updates including the walks they took our dog on. We would absolutely use Marsha again in the future.”

“Jill and her husband, Sean, were so caring and provided excellent care to our dog, Rigby, while we went on a family vacation. Rigby had a great time based on the pictures and messages that we received while we were away. Those messages put my mind at ease knowing that he was well taken care of. We will definitely use them again when we plan future trips.”

“Susana was outstanding and went far and beyond in taking care of our pet while we were traveling. She was diligent and caring. She sent us pics and kept us informed of our pets days. Couldn’t have been a better experience. I truly appreciate her.”

Alicia and her boys made my pups so comfortable, I wasn't sure they'd want to come home with me after the five day stay! She shared pictures and updates that warmed my heart and put my mind at ease for their first-ever stay away from home. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
