“Highly recommend! They took great care of Blue and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Communication was excellent, and it was clear that Blue was well cared for and treated like part of the family. We really appreciated the updates and attention he received. We would definitely book with them again. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Blue!”

“Walter G. and his loving family ? were very Wonderful! Our Beagle dog “Wrangler” felt comfortable immediately at their home. Walter and his family was very understanding and caring towards him. Our dog can be very shy sometimes and yet he seemed to really warm up to the family very quickly. Inclusive, one of his little girl’s got so adorably attached, that it was so heart warming to see her shed a couple of tears ☺️ We truly highly recommend Walter G. and his family. He will most certainly be on our top list for boarding and care and we will most certainly be honored to have them take care of our boy again.”
“Tatiana has been excellent the two time that I sought her services. The last time was under very short notice, so it was immensely appreciated. She keeps you well l informed every day with photos and videos and is endearing to the pets. I highly recommend Tatiana and trust her with my pet.”

“Marley enjoyed his stay at William’s and loved playing with his dog Maui. William updated us often with reports and fun pictures. Marley even “helped” rake leaves with William. We look forward to the next time he can stay with William.”

“I really appreciated the pictures and videos throughout my dog’s stay. I felt completely at ease leaving him in such capable hands where I knew he got lots of attention, fun, and care!”

“First time booking, will definitely book again the next time we need dog boarding in this area! Renee had fantastic communication, was super friendly, took care with introducing our dogs, and just plain made Greta and me super happy. Highly recommend!”

“Jax was so well cared for in Joanne’s care. She is delightful and took Jax pretty much on a last minute notice. She always has a smile on her face and was a joy to work with. Jax was well adjusted being back home.”

“Deborah is truly outstanding — we highly recommend her! She cared for our beloved dog Bodie for nearly two weeks while our home was on the market, and she made the entire process stress‑free. Deborah kept us updated every day on how Bodie was doing and how he was adjusting. She is accessible, responsive, professional, and genuinely caring. She’s incredibly easy to work with, and we will absolutely use her again the next time we need pet‑sitting support.”

“Xena did fantastic at your home! Thank you for letting her stay with you over Christmas. And thank you for all the pictures too. We will certainly reach back out the next time we need a dog sitter.”

“Our 70-pound lab/hound mix, Donny, just stayed with Maria for the second time and the experience was once again excellent. Maria is very responsive and communicative, sharing updates and photos throughout the stay. Normally Donny stays with family when we travel, but when they are unavailable it’s great to still be able to travel knowing Donny is having a good time and being well taken care of.h”

“Once again Joel and Janelle treat our 2 boys like family. This time a dog pool was included and the most adorable pictures of our old man Cooper and baby boy Briggs! Being relatively new to NOVA- we feel so blessed we found this precious husband and wife team! Beautiful place and nothing but love ❤️”

“This is an absolutely fantastic choice for a dog-sitter, in my mind. Leslie was loving, caring and she treated Frances, my terrier-dachshund with the closest and kindest attention—plenty of walks, balanced diet, happy human company to sleep with when she desired, and various places to rest—so Leslie passed those all those important measures. She also sent me photographs with comments fairly often, which delighted me and made me know that Frances was safe and happy! But then, of Great value was the fact that she always could find positive human companionship—her cousin came, and let Frances and another dog, sleep on his knee, looking utterly content, her roommate really liked Frances and showed it, and Leslie did too. AND there was always her dog, and then occasionally a neighbor’s dog or another client’s dog visiting for a number of hours. That was Heaven for Frances, and just what I was hoping for. A place where Frances could be, as Leslie put it, a member of a pack. NOT a large, in any way overwhelming pack, but a small pack, consisting of one or two or conceivably three other dogs, which she could be with. THAT and the essential human warmth which was very much present—was all I could dream of—and Leslie provided it. Thank you so, so much. I will definitely use her services again! Leslie is cause for peace of mind, great happiness and satisfaction for Frances and me.”

“Lori and her fiancée are awesome! She had a lot of patience in answering my numerous questions prior to boarding our Sheepadoodle puppy. We really appreciate her and look forward to boarding again in the future.”

“My Golden had a wonderful 2 week stay with Karen. She sent videos and pictures everyday. Her whole family is so sweet and she has a beautiful property! Will definitely use her in the future.”

“Such a great experience from the meet and greet to picking up our two pups at the end of their stay. Katherine’s knowledge, experience and love for animals was seen clearly through all parts of the process. She is very responsive and getting daily pictures during their stay was just the best! Her comfy indoor space and beautiful outdoor spaces provide a great environment for whatever your pup needs, from zoomies to cuddles. Knowing Chipper and Dutchess were being cared for and loved on by Katherine put our minds at ease and helped us fully enjoy our time away. We will absolutely book again!”

“Sophia was the ultimate pet boarding professional. Within a day, she understood our unusual dogs, recognizing how sweet they are. Knowing our little girl is an escape artist, she took great care to ensure her safety. Immediately, our girl trusted Sophia and followed her everywhere she could in the house. Sophia also understood our older boy, and he was calm and content when we picked him up at the end of the weeklong visit. I was impressed by Sophia's professionalism and by how much she cared about the well-being of our dogs. When the temps dropped lower than we anticipated, Sophia pulled out her own spare dog jacket to make sure our pups stayed warm enough on their daily walks. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our pups, Sophia!”

“We cannot recommend John and Joanna highly enough! They took wonderful care of our two dachshunds and went above and beyond in every way. Their communication was outstanding, we received regular updates and fun photos that reassured us our pups were happy and in great hands while we were away. John and Joanna’s attentiveness and compassion truly stood out, especially during a thunderstorm. Knowing our pups are afraid of thunder, they took the time to check in on them and offer extra cuddles, which meant the world to us. They also made sure our dog received his daily skin treatments, which we deeply appreciated. John and Joanna set the standard for what pet care should look like. Warm, responsive, and truly dedicated.”

“Samantha is a good care taker. She knows how to care for my senior dog. Her house was great with Winston’s company and has a nice backyard full of good smells. She’s a great communicator and send updates frequently.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
