“This is an absolutely fantastic choice for a dog-sitter, in my mind. Leslie was loving, caring and she treated Frances, my terrier-dachshund with the closest and kindest attention—plenty of walks, balanced diet, happy human company to sleep with when she desired, and various places to rest—so Leslie passed those all those important measures. She also sent me photographs with comments fairly often, which delighted me and made me know that Frances was safe and happy! But then, of Great value was the fact that she always could find positive human companionship—her cousin came, and let Frances and another dog, sleep on his knee, looking utterly content, her roommate really liked Frances and showed it, and Leslie did too. AND there was always her dog, and then occasionally a neighbor’s dog or another client’s dog visiting for a number of hours. That was Heaven for Frances, and just what I was hoping for. A place where Frances could be, as Leslie put it, a member of a pack. NOT a large, in any way overwhelming pack, but a small pack, consisting of one or two or conceivably three other dogs, which she could be with. THAT and the essential human warmth which was very much present—was all I could dream of—and Leslie provided it. Thank you so, so much. I will definitely use her services again! Leslie is cause for peace of mind, great happiness and satisfaction for Frances and me.”

“We had such a great experience with this dog boarding home! We felt completely at ease the entire time he was there. We loved getting regular updates with pictures, videos, and texts throughout the week — it made such a difference seeing how happy and well cared for he was. It was clear from the start that she genuinely loves dogs and knows how to keep them happy and engaged. Yuki came home relaxed and content, which says a lot! We really appreciated the updates and photos during the stay—it gave us peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. Highly recommend Helen for anyone looking for a caring and attentive sitter for their pup!!”
“We rescued Bailey and have only had her for ten months and when we first met Robert and Edina at our meet and greet, we knew right away they would be the perfect sitters for our dog. They have a beautiful fenced in yard and Bailey loved exploring and running around. They gave her several daily walks and lots of love and attention. They only take one dog at a time and that was an ideal situation for us. My husband and I could enjoy our trip without any worry about Bailey. We knew she was well taken care of. Robert communicates daily with lots of pictures! When we picked her up, she was happy and content and gave Robert and Edina kisses and hugs before she left. No doubt we have found the best sitters for our Bailey.”

Chris is attentive, loving, prompt, flexible, friendly, very professional & very good with dogs . He also has excellent communication skills. Chris is reliable and you can feel comfortable leaving your dog with him it’s second time we left our baby with Chris and his family. He provided daily text updates with lots of pictures. Thank you once again Chris and his Mom and Dad for taking care of our baby snuggle. Snuggle will definitely miss you guys especially Carla and will come back to you guys whenever we go again in future.”

“Jill and Sean were absolutely wonderful with our dog, Gideon. They graciously agreed to a day trial run, which meant so much to us as we navigate some changes in his life. Since the passing of our older dog, Dino, Gideon has struggled with being separated from us and can become quite anxious at drop-off. Jill and Sean were incredibly patient, flexible, and comforting when Gideon became upset. They took the time to help him settle in and made him feel safe and cared for. Throughout his 7-hour stay, they sent thoughtful updates and photos that reassured us he was adjusting well and receiving lots of attention. It was clear that they genuinely cared about Gideon’s well-being and understood that every dog has unique needs. Their kindness and compassion gave us tremendous peace of mind. We are so grateful for the excellent care they provided and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, attentive, and loving pet sitters. Thank you, Jill and Sean, for taking such great care of our boy! 🐾❤️”

About: I'll love them like their my own. I'm new to Rover but I've helped friends, family and neighbors care for their fur babies for the last 30 years or so. I grew up with Old English sheepdog but love all animals. My friends joke that I can't go anywhere without meeting a new dog friend. I currently have a senior dog with an autoimmune disease so I'm comfortable with providing special needs care. I'm great with all types of dogs and love meeting new friends. I'm happy to help with all care needs including walking, feeding, playing, administrating medicine, and cuddle time. I can't wait to meet my new best friend! Outside of school drop off and pick up times I'm available to help with your pets care. I'm available from 8am-10pm most days and can also do overnight if needed. I will care for your pet as if they were my own. During our consultation we can go over your pets specific needs which I'm happy to accommodate as well as a meet and greet so you and your fur baby can feel comfortable with me.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
