“John and his wife did a great job with our pug, Ellie. They have a really nice house with a good sized fenced yard. They exercised Ellie and gave her the allergy pills. They sent us some great pictures and video of Ellie. I highly recommend them, and I will be using them again!”

“Colleen did a great job taking care of my old dog, Bentley. She is very knowledgeable about dogs, and especially good with older dogs. This gave us peace of mind. I would definitely recommend her. Next time, I will remember to check off the photo-sharing option so I can see pictures of Bentley while we are away.”

“I wish I could give Erin more than five stars!!! She went above and beyond taking care of Cooper—he got lots of walks, love, and snuggles. We will definitely be reaching out to Erin again in the future! Thank you for taking such amazing care of our boy!”

“Words cannot express my satisfaction having Annette look after Axel. Learning of her experience with fosters it was a no brainer to book with her. My experience dropping off and picking up, seeing her interact with my boy and hearing how she handled situations with him, solidified she will be my go to sitter. It was wonderful peace of mind to know Axel would be taken care of in a lovely home environment.”

“both of our dogs seemed well cared for. His property has plenty of space for the dogs to run and he took them for walks in the woods, which I’m sure they enjoyed. I would consider boarding our dogs with him again.”

“Could not have asked for a better experience. I could tell my dog was well loved and cared for. Tara has great communication and provided daily pictures and updates. We will definitely use her time and time again.”

“Jennifer and her family did a wonderful job taking care of Buddy. She kept me informed and he had a great time. I’m not sure he wanted to come home as he had so much fun. We will definitely use her again.”

“Anna took such great care of our German shepherd, was communicative and understanding when we had an unexpected travel change. She was more than accommodating and went above and beyond to help given our travel issue. Anna’s house is great for any dog, her dogs are very sweet and her family is awesome. I cannot recommend enough and we will book with her again 1000%”

“Excellent service! Linda took such great care of our Dogo, sending daily pictures, taking him for walks, and giving him lots of attention. She gladly accommodated a late request for extended boarding as we prepared our home for sale which alleviated a lot of stress. She has a beautiful home with an amazing yard providing a safe environment. She’s also gave him meds as scheduled. Can’t thank her enough 🐾”

“Priscila (and her mom) did an awesome job with our two pups! We got pictures and videos and updates on our week-long vacation and our boys looked very happy. You can really tell they are animal lovers. I would not hesitate to book with her again!”

“Rachel and Jason were wonderful with our new puppy. It was our first time leaving her overnight, and the videos and pictures were very reassuring. I know she was loved and well taken care of!”

“This was Duncans second visit with Ali, he stayed over two weeks this time. He came back to me happy, healthy and showed no signs of stress at all. The daily pictures sent to me indicated he was having a fabulous time, enjoying Ali’s family and all the love provided. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing he was being well taken care of. Once again I can highly recommend Ali, she is wonderful!”
“Cheryl takes wonderful care of our pup and he loves going to see her. We don’t have to worry about whether he is happy when we are gone, and the care he receives is too notch.”

“Chris and Gerry are so nice, loving, and kind. My girls felt at ease while staying with them. It helps that they only take one client at a time. If you are looking for someone to love your babies like their own, look no further. Definitely book with Chris and Gerry!”

“Poh Huey is absolutely amazing. She took great care of our dog Belle recently when we were out of town. She was responsive, courteous, and very professional. Huey was genuinely attentive to Belle, which was greatly appreciated. She provides video/photo updates. Her fenced backyard with artificial turf provides a safety and clean playground for dogs. Her two dogs are super friendly. Huey is the best!!”

“Maki was excellent with Bruno. She was very caring and kept us up to date on everything including photos and videos. She took him on walks played with him and in general made him feel very comfortable and loved.”

“Like I told Evvery, this is the first time I've gone on vacation without my dog and didn't stress about his care. We received picture and video updates at least two times everyday and Shmulik looked SO HAPPY and like he was having the time of his life in each one. Shmulik can be a little difficult (he's aggressive with other dogs), but Evvery knew exactly what to do if they encountered another dog on their walks. We cannot recommend her enough!!!!!!!! Evvery will give your pups the love and attention they deserve while you're away! Thank you, Evvery!! We'll see you soon! - Ilya, Yana & Shmulik”
“Jax was so well cared for in Joanne’s care. She is delightful and took Jax pretty much on a last minute notice. She always has a smile on her face and was a joy to work with. Jax was well adjusted being back home.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
