“Sarah and her family took wonderful care of Meesha while I was away. They were kind, communicative, and made me feel at ease with updates throughout her stay. I’d definitely book with Sarah again and highly recommend her!”

“Jennifer and her family did a wonderful job taking care of Buddy. She kept me informed and he had a great time. I’m not sure he wanted to come home as he had so much fun. We will definitely use her again.”

“Tatiana took care of my dog very well. She stayed for 6 days and I received her photo every day with other boarding dogs, I was very well informed. She took care of her daily routines and I would highly recomend her.”

“This was our first experience with Rover and everything went smoothly. Anahita (and her husband) were lovely and responsive and sent a daily pup photo. I didn’t press for details, can only assume by her demeanor that our girl was comfortable and well tended. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Anahita again.”

“Wonderful experience! Our dog was very well cared for, and we were regularly updated throughout our time away. Tetiana made an extra effort to meet up with us before the drop off date to make sure all were comfortable. We will absolutely use Tetiana in the future!”

“My dog had such a great time here. We took him home and he was great. Last year, I took him to a vet’s boarding place for two days and the experience was horrible. Here, he felt like home. There were no drastic changes for him. It actually was like a summer vacation for him. Also Kristen is very helpful and flexible. I am so happy that I found a great place for my dog. Thanks Kristen, you will see Fletcher often!!!?”

“Cannot recommend Maria enough! She was excellent with our rescue who is reactive to other dogs. She was great with his high energy level. She sent frequent pictures and updates which was amazing. Will definitely be going back :)”

“Susana was a fantastic caretaker of Stella! We loved the daily pictures and updates! She made us feel so confident about where Stella was and how she was cared for. We completely trust her and highly recommend her. Thanks again 🥰”

“What can I say that hasn't been said before about Valerie. She was phenomenal with Rooney for his most recent stay. Always received multiple photos every day showing how he was getting along with the other guests. Whether it was simply on a walk or having a tug of war with another dog. Valerie is always our first choice if we are going out of town. She will treat your pet like her own and make sure you are always updated with what they are doing.”

“My husband and I could not be happier with Sophia and her family for taking care of our Crouton! She took several photos throughout the weekend stay and kept us updated on Croutons stay. We will 1000% work with Sophia again and highly recommend her!!!”

About: I'll love them like their my own. I'm new to Rover but I've helped friends, family and neighbors care for their fur babies for the last 30 years or so. I grew up with Old English sheepdog but love all animals. My friends joke that I can't go anywhere without meeting a new dog friend. I currently have a senior dog with an autoimmune disease so I'm comfortable with providing special needs care. I'm great with all types of dogs and love meeting new friends. I'm happy to help with all care needs including walking, feeding, playing, administrating medicine, and cuddle time. I can't wait to meet my new best friend! Outside of school drop off and pick up times I'm available to help with your pets care. I'm available from 8am-10pm most days and can also do overnight if needed. I will care for your pet as if they were my own. During our consultation we can go over your pets specific needs which I'm happy to accommodate as well as a meet and greet so you and your fur baby can feel comfortable with me.
“We are immensely grateful to William and his family for the exceptional care they provided to our elderly dog, Bentley, while we were on vacation. Their constant updates, complete with pictures, gave us peace of mind and showed just how happy Bentley was in their care. Their home and spacious backyard were ideal for him to explore and relax. We are confident that he was well looked after, and we will definitely choose them again in the future. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of trustworthy pet care.”

“We rescued Bailey and have only had her for ten months and when we first met Robert and Edina at our meet and greet, we knew right away they would be the perfect sitters for our dog. They have a beautiful fenced in yard and Bailey loved exploring and running around. They gave her several daily walks and lots of love and attention. They only take one dog at a time and that was an ideal situation for us. My husband and I could enjoy our trip without any worry about Bailey. We knew she was well taken care of. Robert communicates daily with lots of pictures! When we picked her up, she was happy and content and gave Robert and Edina kisses and hugs before she left. No doubt we have found the best sitters for our Bailey.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Helen watching our energetic maltipoo, Yuki! Yuki is full of energy and loves lots of attention, and Helen handled him perfectly. It was clear from the start that she genuinely loves dogs and knows how to keep them happy and engaged. Yuki came home relaxed and content, which says a lot! We really appreciated the updates and photos during the stay—it gave us peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. Highly recommend Helen for anyone looking for a caring and attentive sitter for their pup!!”
“Adrienne went above and beyond for us during an extended trip, even picking up our custom dog food order when we forgot to leave enough for the pups during their stay. Highly recommend!”

“Joanna was so loving with my dog and greeted her with so much affection. I felt completely at ease while I was out for the day, knowing that she was being cared for by Joanna. I would book her again in a heartbeat.”

“Colleen is so AMAZING. Our pup scout is 17 weeks and we had to go out of town for a family wedding. She was recommended by a friend and we won’t be using anyone other than her! Several updates during the day and her knowledge and caring heart made us feel so comfortable leaving him for the first time. TWO THUMBS UP!”

Emily was awesome! We have a nervous Weimaraner and she had him for a full week with zero concerns. She sent me pictures and updates of all their hiking adventures and asked questions to make sure she cared for him just like we do. So appreciative of her and can’t wait to book with her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
