“This was the first time that we sent Lasso to Sophia's house. Lasso had a good time there. He got twice long walk per day and he played in the yard happily with other dogs. Lasso was a picky eater and Sophia tried very, very hard to feed him. We just hope that she can be more successful like we do at home to get him to eat two meals a day. But, we truly appreciate her effort and intent of trying and she took good care for Lasso throughout his stay for near three days. We definitely felt safe and comfortable by sending Lasso to her. Thank you, Sophia!”

“Katie did a great job taking care of our goldendoodle! She was very knowledgeable and patient with our energetic pup, which we really appreciated. Spyro showed some signs of separation anxiety, but Katie and her family were kind and understanding throughout. She kept us informed, daily sharing updates and photos. It was reassuring to know he was in good hands.”

“Vidhi did a wonderful job taking care of Buddy. Communication was smooth throughout his stay, and she sent daily pictures, which gave me peace of mind. I also loved that she also has a mini Goldendoodle, so Buddy had a buddy to keep him company! He looked very comfortable and happy in her home. I would definitely recommend Vidhi, and I have booked her again for next weekend.”

“We have a 4 year old GSD boy, who has great temperament and is a complete family companion pup. We had a cross coast vacation planned and we wanted Archie to be with a very trustworthy family, as this was his first time staying away from us and like other dog parents, we love him to moon and back. Robert and his family were just the people and we were so fortunate to have Archie stay with. Robert was superb communicator, sent us pictures very frequently and took the best care of Archie. When we came back from the trip to pickup Archie, he was so calm and composed, like a kid who grew up instantly to a mature pup. It was a very smooth and pleasant experience for us parents. We feel very lucky to have Robert and his family look after Archie. They are our top recommendation to other dog parents.”

“Kristen was great with my senior dog. He has incontinence issues and I wasn't sure I would be able to find any where that was able to care for him. Kristen was so easy going and rolled with all my boy's issues. So glad to have found her and plan to continue using her kennel in the future!”
“Terri had great communication and we were able to do a meet and greet before the stay. She sent us great pictures and updates and would greatly recommend her to watch your pets!”

“Victoria was a great match with our 6 month old puppy who had never been away from us. She has a great setup, wonderful demeanor and a passion for pet sitting. When I came to pick her up, my puppy ran to greet me with all the enthusiasm I could hope for. THEn she ran back to Victoria. I think that’s the best testament to how welcome and safe she felt with her.”

“5 stars all the way specially for caring, timely communication, providing updates, and friendly environment. My puppy dog spent 5 nights with family and during days & nights I received pictures and updates on how he felt. It was so lovely to see how much they care about my dog and welcome him to their house. I will definitely try again and highly recommend this Lovely family!!!”

“What can I say? Sarah was fantastic! The whole experience was so easy and wonderful for our dog. Sarah was flexible and very responsive. Super accommodating. She kept us supplied with lots of updates and photos during the whole visit. Our hound sometimes has anxiety during new experiences but she was so well cared for that she felt immediately at ease when we arrived and through the whole visit. Sarah and her wonderful family took such good care of her that I would absolutely want my dog to stay with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Fantastic!! Deborah was super accommodating and she treated Bailey as if she was her own dog. We had pictures and updates daily and more than once a day. We’re so happy we found her. We would definitely recommend her🩷”

“Even thought this was his first visit to Michelle, Rusty was very comfortable wth Michelle and her family. He seemed relaxed and happy when we picked him up. I am sure he enjoyed the large fenced back yard.”

“Anahita was absolutely wonderful with my 1.5-year-old boy, Ranger! He’s still all pup-full of energy and curiosity, but she handled him with so much patience and care. She was incredibly responsive and respectful, keeping me updated and continuing to work with him on his manners and behavior. It’s clear she truly loves dogs. Our boy was in such good hands—highly recommend!”

“Tetiana did a lovely job looking after our dog, Charlie. Thank you for the photos and updates while we were gone! We'll definitely have Charlie stay with Tetiana again! Thank you!”

“My dog Anna loves being there. Xinyi sends me so many updates and pictures so I’m very reassured that Anna is very well taken care of. 100% recommend! She is quick to respond as well.”

“Tori was the best sitter I could ever dream of. She was attentive, caring and diligent to provide day to day accounts of how our cats were doing. Cats seemed to really enjoy their time with her and it eradicated any anxiety we had with leaving our cats while being away on an international trip. I would recommend Tori any day to anyone! Thanks Tori for being so wonderful to our cats!”

“My pups had a great time with Adrienne, who accommodated us last minute. Our pups are high anxiety and they settled in quickly and happily for a couple of nights at her place. She’s great about providing the amount of updates you feel comfortable with, and was thoughtful with how she prepared for their stay. I would definitely recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waterford
Emily was awesome! We have a nervous Weimaraner and she had him for a full week with zero concerns. She sent me pictures and updates of all their hiking adventures and asked questions to make sure she cared for him just like we do. So appreciative of her and can’t wait to book with her again!

Connor was great with Teo! It is the second year I have left Teo for my summer vacation with Connor, and I have been able to enjoy my free time without any worry. I received a lot of updates on my baby dog, who was having a great time with his dog friends, playing and bathing in the sun. He also took care of giving Teo his flea medication. I highly recommend Connor!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
