“Alexsys was able to watch my girl last night SUPER last minute for a couple hours while I had a Xmas get together. She is always very quick to respond to my requests and is always willing to take care of her for me!! I can never brag about her enough she is literally the AMAZING!!❤️”

“We recently moved to NOVA from Midlothian and had to find a new Rover Ally to watch our 2 sweet Goldens- We used someone who lived in the same town and it did not go well at all so we were very nervous about leaving them again with anyone else. I can hands down say this was one of our best Rover experiences ever!! Joel and Janelle have a beautiful place with a large grassy fenced yard! They sent periodic incredible “action” pictures and our Goldens did not seemed stressed at all when we picked them up. We are looking forward to our stay with them early next month.”

“Highly recommend! They took great care of Blue and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Communication was excellent, and it was clear that Blue was well cared for and treated like part of the family. We really appreciated the updates and attention he received. We would definitely book with them again. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Blue!”

“Victoria did an awesome job of job of watching over Ivy. She was prepared and sent us pics of her. Ivy was very happy there (like she was on a mini vacation). Will definitely utilize Victoria's services again.”

“We were so happy to have found Cheryl and our dog Sofi had a great time. Sofi seemed very relaxed and happy when we picked her up and we look forward to booking with her again!”

“Five stars for Laura! Due to a family emergency, we had to find a last minute sitter for our lab. Laura was extremely responsive and accommodating throughout the entire experience. During our pup’s stay, we received various photos and videos of him feeling at home and having fun. She clearly loves animals and makes sure your pet is loved. I would absolutely book with Laura again! Thank you Laura!”

“Leslie was awesome! She had Trapper for day care and kept him busy playing ball which he LOVES, and took him for a walk. He really enjoyed running around her backyard which is perfect for the dogs to run and play! She sent a lot of pictures and videos to let us know what our boy was up to. We are already planning our next booking!”

“Perfect family for Ace..He loves children ..Charity is very caring and was very understanding when I had a medical emergency and had my sister pick him up when I was in the hospital..The best”

“Fantastic!! Deborah was super accommodating and she treated Bailey as if she was her own dog. We had pictures and updates daily and more than once a day. We’re so happy we found her. We would definitely recommend her🩷”

“Eun has been very diligent in sending multiple pictures and videos daily to keep us updated about how Penny was doing everyday. She was more than happy to take care of Penny’s special food restrictions. She also made sure Penny was more than comfortable during her boarding. Thank you so much Eun.”

“This is an absolutely fantastic choice for a dog-sitter, in my mind. Leslie was loving, caring and she treated Frances, my terrier-dachshund with the closest and kindest attention—plenty of walks, balanced diet, happy human company to sleep with when she desired, and various places to rest—so Leslie passed those all those important measures. She also sent me photographs with comments fairly often, which delighted me and made me know that Frances was safe and happy! But then, of Great value was the fact that she always could find positive human companionship—her cousin came, and let Frances and another dog, sleep on his knee, looking utterly content, her roommate really liked Frances and showed it, and Leslie did too. AND there was always her dog, and then occasionally a neighbor’s dog or another client’s dog visiting for a number of hours. That was Heaven for Frances, and just what I was hoping for. A place where Frances could be, as Leslie put it, a member of a pack. NOT a large, in any way overwhelming pack, but a small pack, consisting of one or two or conceivably three other dogs, which she could be with. THAT and the essential human warmth which was very much present—was all I could dream of—and Leslie provided it. Thank you so, so much. I will definitely use her services again! Leslie is cause for peace of mind, great happiness and satisfaction for Frances and me.”

“Marley enjoyed his stay at William’s and loved playing with his dog Maui. William updated us often with reports and fun pictures. Marley even “helped” rake leaves with William. We look forward to the next time he can stay with William.”

“We had such a great experience with Joanne and she took such great care of our dog even with a very last minute booking. We are so glad we found her, highly recommend!”

“Renee was amazing watching our dog for the weekend! You can tell how much she loves dogs and how connected to them she is. She was communicative leading up to the stay and gave a lot of updates and pictures throughout the weekend. It was such a peace of mind knowing our dog was in good care and having a great time in Renee’s care. Highly recommend her!”

“John and Joanna were wonderful with our dogs as usual! Their attention to detail is so reassuring. One of our dogs needed continued medication and they were so good about keeping her on track. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
