“This was my first time using Rover and was in a tight spot after my go-to walker was out of town. Andrew was more than we could have asked for. Our dog is an anxious fellow but took to Andrew immediately which really gave us peace of mind.”

“Nicholas is great !!! My dog is not too comfortable with other people walking him, but Nicholas is so patient with him. Seeing how excited my boy gets when it's time to go with Nicholas is everything a dog mom wants !”

About: I started sitting in earnest four years ago, but grew up with my own dogs and often babysat for friends and family in high school and college. I’ve cared for Greyhounds, Border Collies, Shihtzus, Golden Retrievers, Corgis, APBTs, one Mastiff, one Akita, one senior German Shpeherd, and one Border Terrier/Shihtzu puppy. I’m a teaching artist, so my fluctuating schedule doesn’t allow me to have my own dogs, but the long periods of remote work and time between gigs means I have very flexible availability and can fill the hole in my heart by being a reliable, loving sitter for others. I really cherish any opportunity to spend time with any pups and look forward to meeting yours! I’m between gigs at the moment, so save some odd appointments, I’m available for morning, afternoon, or evening drop in walks, daytime sitting, or longer overnight stays and in-home sitting. I always prefer to take a walk with pet parents leading when I first meet new dogs to get a sense of what they’re used to. For multi-day sitting, I always follow whatever norms you set in your home to make sure training stays consistent and there’s no confusion that may create anxiety for your pups. If working remotely, I try to stay where pups can see me and take lots of breaks for walks, pottying, and pets. Unless you have a specific walking route, I like to stay on quieter streets with slower speed limits and less traffic so walks are calm. I also like to allow lots of time for sniffing (smells stimulate your pup’s brain!) unless you have behavioral or training concerns about avoiding distractions during walks.
“Top marks all around for Tori! She is easy to communicate with, showed up promptly for every walk, gave full details on our dog's care via the Rover card, and even shoveled snow off of our walkway. We would hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Caris did a great job with our sometimes-nervous rescue English bulldog. Caris is responsive, timely, dependable, and flexible, and also has great calming energy for our dog. When we needed additional walks added, Caris did her best to accommodate and help us make sure our pup was taken care of, despite a (well-deserved) full schedule. We would definitely trust Caris to take care of our dog again!”

“Gio was an excellent dog walker. She helped me when my current dog walker could not continue walking buddy. She reported all the details of the visit efficiently and gave us peace of mind. She was informative and responsible. This was my first time using rover and I had a great experience thanks to Gio. She has a true love for dogs and what she does. I will definitely work with her in the future.”

“Jennifer was a great help and made sure to give Cricket the best experience - she took the pup for an extensive walk and sent photos along the way. She made sure that Cricket was well hydrated after too, given the heat. I’m sure Cricket will want to see Jennifer a lot more!”

“Jess has been wonderful walking our dog Toby around the neighborhood! Her daily updates truly bring us joy, and Toby always seems happy and relaxed when he gets home. She is also considerate and communicative when schedule changes come up. We're so grateful and happy to highly recommend Jess :)”

About: I’ve been working closely with dogs since I was four years old. We moved around a lot growing up and I would always helped her readjust to feel safe in new areas. I would get to know neighbors’ and friends’ pets, and with this early life experience, I’m a natural at getting pets to feel comfortable with me. I have experience working with senior dogs and dogs in recovery from injury, as well as dogs who have been rescued or traumatized by scary situations. I am currently in school, so my schedule is extremely flexible. I typically have 1-2 classes per weekday, either in the morning or at night, leaving the majority of my schedule open for pet care. I always make sure pets’ emotional needs are taken care of. For example, I pay very close attention to body language. At home, if my dog is ever purposefully ignoring me, I check with her to see if something is wrong.
“Michelle is amazing! Michelle took Charlie last minute (literally) to help me out as I had to cover a shift at work. I went with Michelle because we were fortunate to have her walk Charlie earlier this year when I had to go to New York for work. Michelle’s has shown the same consistent care and communication both times. She’s great and make sure to book her if you want to ensure your pet is well taken care of.”

“Michael did a great job taking care of our dog! She immediately took to him and was nice and tired after good long walks. Very communicative and easy to work with!”

“We are just thrilled with the care Leo's reliability, kindness, and the care he shows for our dog. I happened to be home when he came by yesterday, and saw that he removed his shoes when he came in. Our family doesn't wear shoes in the house and we have a tray next to the door for shoes, but we never ask or expect guests to remove theirs. Leo is so considerate and observant that he did this on his own. I think this speaks volumes about him. We feel very fortunate to have him caring for Jake.”

“Gabrielle was very responsive and they were accommodating of my wanting an initial meet/greet introduction. They let me know when they arrived and again when wrapped up the walk; gGreat service. Thank you!”

About: When I was 16 I was given the choice between getting a dog or a car… and chose a dog. I always have had a love for dogs, whether it’s having my own or being able to be around others. Growing up I had an English Bulldog that I adored. After I moved to DC, my roommate and I fostered a dog from the Humane Rescue Alliance and she was recently adopted! We had her for 4-5 months, and she was an absolute joy to have. She was found on the streets of DC, so I had to work with her on some things like walking on a leash and getting her basic commands down. Now that we don’t have her anymore, I would love to take care of others dogs! I work a sales job, so my weeks are pretty flexible. I have fully remote Mondays and Fridays so those are usually the best days for me to help out during the week, as well as the weekends. I live in a townhouse very close to meridian hill park and would love to take a dog on walks/to the park to play or just hangout!

“Landy is great! Excellent communication and truly cares about my pups. She’s comfortable giving meds and asked great questions that shows she’s on top of it. Also she sent adorable photos of them on the walk! 🐾🦴”

“Jonathan was great with our recently adopted dog that gave him a hard time. He was calm, patient and adapted to the situation as needed, communicating well along the way.”

“Alexa was great!!! She was so thorough with the care. She left detailed reports on how each visit was and brought me a lot of comfort and peace while I was away. Book her!”

“Ican't say enough good things about karima! She is incredibly reliable, trustworthy, and always go above and beyond to make sure my dog, Bruno is well-exercised and happy. I especially love the daily updates and photos they send during the walk, which gives me so much peace of mind while I'm at work."”

Jennifer took care of our dog Iris while we were away. Iris was recovering from an injury and she was careful and sent feedback on her progress. In the middle of the trip I asked Jennifer to look after the many plants around the house (we were housesitting even more plants for our daughter). She helped us out with that too! (No small task for our mini jungle.)
