“I have a 13 yo German Wire Haired pointer that due to arthritis is not able to accompany me anymore on long day trips. For the first time, and with no small amount of anxiety, I left him in the care of Hattie for a drop in visit mid-day and a walk. She was kind, caring, prompt and provided photos and a “report” of the walk so that I could enjoy my day away and know my dog was well cared for! Merry Christmas to me!”

About: Hi, I'm Leah, and as you might have guessed, I am a huge pet lover! I've been incredibly lucky to be surrounded by sweet furry friends my entire life - growing up with everything from dogs and cats to iguanas and birds - and I have adored every single one of them. As an adult, I raised an adorable corgi and currently share my home with two sweet black cats. I hold a very special place in my heart for senior pets and for those who need a little extra love & care. My beloved corgi, Bamboo, who has since crossed the rainbow bridge, had Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Caring for him taught me so much about keeping pups cozy, happy, and comfortable. I truly miss him and miss having a dog in my life, so walking and looking after yours would bring me so much joy! I'm also a very proud cat mom to two precious black kitties who have taught me so much. My senior cat, Kanga, has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), which has made me well-versed in creating peaceful, stress-free environments for our feline friends. My other kitty, Kiwi, has asthma, so I'm completely comfortable administering medications, including inhalers and oral treatments. Since I'm self-employed as an artist, my schedule is wonderfully flexible and I'd love to chat about how I can help. If you happen to be looking for a house-sitter, I would truly love to help you out. I'm available for quick stays of 2 to 4 days at a time. I look forward to hearing from you, and tell your furry friend I said hi, too 🖤 Since I work from home as an artist, my schedule is wonderfully flexible! I can easily adjust my time to fit whatever works best for you and your pet. If I stay at your home, I'll be there to keep your furry friend company throughout most of the day since my work travels with me. Please rest assured that I will deeply respect your space, follow all of your household rules, and keep everything safe and secure (like food that is toxic to pets). I love building a bond of trust with pets by letting them set the pace for interactions.
“Samah took excellent care of our cats while we were away. Everyday we received photos of them and knew they were being well cared for. Her son even left the most adorable drawings of each cat that are now being proudly displayed on our fridge. You can rest assured that with Samah your pets will be loved as if they are her own.”

“Kristine was wonderful. Followed directions beautifully. It’s was wonderful to come home to my little guy and see him doing so well. I hope to work with her again.”

About: I have experience with pup's big and small! Whether it's walking my girlfriend's reactive 80lb Pitbull, or making sure my 10lb cat is spoiled rotten, I have a lifetime of experience taking care of animals! I'll make sure your pup is the star of the show during our time together, sniff walks, enrichment or a leisurely stroll for an elderly friend, it's all in my wheelhouse! I have summer off from school so my days are wide open so I can make your pup my number one priority! Once I am back to school in September I will still be able to make time for your pup between homework and classes as I'm a full-time student which gives plenty of free time (don't tell my professors!) I have experience with aggressive and reactive dogs, so I am observant and ready to be a step ahead of any kind of trouble! I treat your pet like my own so safety is always my number one priority at all times, whether we are walking and move to the other side of the street if an unknown dog is approaching, or on high alert for E-bikes zooming down the path, your pet is always safe with me!
“Venessa was absolutely wonderful with Pepper! From the moment we met her, she was kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure Pepper was comfortable and well taken care of while we were away. She followed all of our care instructions carefully, kept everything clean, and gave us so much peace of mind throughout the weekend. It’s clear she has a real love for animals, and Pepper was in great hands. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for cat, and we truly appreciated the communication and reliability the entire time. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate Rover sitter!”

About: I grew up with cats and dogs and love nothing more than to give fur babies my undivided attention! Since moving to Washington 5 years ago, I’ve been caring for friends/neighbors' pets, taking them on walks, feeding them, playing, and watching them while they are out of town. I just adopted my own mixed pup from Seattle Humane in April; let me spoil your sweet kitties and pups! I can work from home most days, and set my own schedule for the most part, so I am able to take short breaks to take pets on walks or work from another home to make sure the pup or kitty isn't alone for extended periods of time. I imagine pet care fitting easily into the days I work from home. I don't currently have any pets in my home. When it comes to pet sitting, I always make sure to open the door slowly if the pet is loose in the house. I let the pet sniff my hand before attempting to touch them, and give them space if they don't seem to want to interact with me. When it comes to walking, I don't walk with headphones in to make sure I can hear what else is going on nearby. I wouldn't take them near spaces where I know there are likely to be other dogs unless that is requested.
“She was great! We had to keep our dog home longer than expected one y, and she came on a very short notice to help. Stayed and played with him for a long time. 10/10 recommend.”
“Emma was a lifesaver! She squeezed us into a busy schedule and then my cat had a health scare right before I left for my trip, but she took wonderful care of my floof and kept me well informed of her recovery so I didn’t have to be so anxious. Came home to a healthy, happy cat and a perfect apartment. I’ll re-book with Emma in a heartbeat!”

“Charlotte did great once again watching my little fur ball. She even brought some of her own cat treats when she noticed my cat was not a fan of the ones I bought. She is so good when it comes to take care of my cat. She makes being away easier for me because I know she will do a great job!”

About: Hi! I recently moved to Seattle from Vancouver, and I’m away from my own fur baby (a 7-year-old bichon who knows 30 different tricks). I’m a very attentive pet owner and frequently babysit my friends’ cats and dogs. I also love studying pet nutrition, and enjoy (allergies and preferences permitting) making yummy and healthy pet treats! Being in Seattle and away from all the animal friends in Vancouver, I understand the difficulties of making time for our pets, and I’d love to give back to the community by offloading your pet care when you’re stretched thin. My apartment is very animal friendly with lots of safe and fenced off outdoor areas, where I can provide dedicated attention and enrichment for your fur babies. I work remotely from home with lots of flexibility, so I have dedicated time and attention to take care of pets in my routine. I would be able to walk, play with, and attend to their potty needs throughout the entire day. I’m a very attentive pet sitter, and will communicate with you to make sure I’m meeting all your baby’s needs. My apartment is equipped with new pet amenities, notably a pet spa and safe, fenced off outdoor areas. I also live near 3 parks, and can easily drive to your home for any in-home pet care.

“Jasmin was amazing with my large dog. He really just needs a companion and she was the perfect fit to accommodate whatever he needed (even if it was just hanging out on the couch sometimes). She was on time for every visit and sent the best photos. Thanks Jasmin!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Esperance
Lauren was terrific. She came over for a few days to give our dogs potty breaks and company when we had long days away. The dogs connected well with her, and she spent extra time with them, which they (and we) really appreciated. We will definitely ask her again when we need dog sitting.

Kyra continues to be a reliable and compassionate provider for us. She goes well above and beyond often without me even asking. She is flexible and understanding. She sends notes and lots of pictures. I feel like she truly cares about our kitties. She has cared for our kitties multiple times and she is always my first choice. Highly recommend.

Merddyn took care of Sir Domino and Maddie while I was away visiting family, and she was wonderful! She was communicative, empathetic, and you can tell she really understands cats. I shared Domi and Maddie’s different personality traits with her, and she made sure to respect their boundaries while giving them the time and space to warm up to a new sitter. She kept me updated on how they were doing and their eating patterns and even let me know when I was starting to run low on food. I felt very comfortable knowing Domi and Maddie were in her care. I would definitely book with Merddyn again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and attentive cat sitter!

We are so lucky to have Kory take care of our two kitties while we were out of town for two weeks. Kory is so sweet and kind with them that even our shy girl looks forward to their visits. We look forward to the daily reposts and pictures which help take the sting out of missing them so much when we are gone. Thank you, Kory, for all that you do for us 😻

Chloe is an outstanding pet sitter! She took care of my 18 year old cat for 2 weeks when I was away. She was completely reliable, visiting twice a day (I got notifications and photos). She played with my kitty and faithfully gave her medicine. It’s so reassuring to know that while I’m gone, my cat is well fed and well cared for.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
