About: I’ve had dogs since I was eight years old. Including puppies and rescuing senior dogs. Some of the senior dogs were at the end of their life so I understand the need for compassion and care. I currently have a two year old puppy which I have trained since she was five months old. So I am very versed in the need for daily exercise, consistent training, and daily enrichment. I’ve been dog sitting for at least ten years. Including extended stays at my residence. I’m currently a part time worker, looking for something to fill my extra time. So I have a very flexible schedule and I’m always ready for some extra dog time. My goal is to always put your pets need first. Including any care they need. Including cleaning up after them and any extra medications they may need. Also adding comfort and safety in stressful situations.

“Celeste was an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. She was communicative, thoughtful, and consistently kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear she genuinely cared about my dog, and seeing how happy and comfortable my dog was in her presence meant everything to me. I could tell my dog felt safe, loved, and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely trust Celeste again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Suzzie took care of two dogs, both needed medication, and one is older, and needed some extra care. We were gone for a week. Both dogs were in great shape and happy when we returned. I would definitely use Suzzie again.”
“Sierra watched our pups in our home for 10 days over the winter holidays. We have two special needs tripods, one of whom is quite neurotic, so we were nervous about leaving them with a sitter for the first time. Sierra took excellent care of the pups, regularly sent us photos and videos, and administered medications when needed. She gave them lots of cuddles and affection! She was always available via phone and incredibly patient and understanding of my excessive requests for updates. We came home to happy dogs and a spotless house. I can't recommend her highly enough!”

“Marissa did an absolutely fabulous job of taking care of our two "elderly" greyhounds for a week. She made them comfortable and secure by sticking to their routine and gave them lots of love. She sent pictures and gave us regular updates and was very responsive to any questions that we had so we never had to wonder what was going on. I would highly recommend Marissa!!”

“One of a kind! Kendall is incredibly reliable and a wonderful communicator. We felt our animals were in good hands the entire week. Last minute our cat got an infection and she didn’t bat an eye to administering his medication daily. Our cats were both relaxed and happy when we got home, plus the dishes were done and the house was tidy!”

“Riley was an excellent sitter for us, she was great with our dog Elsa and was very attentive. She went above and beyond to take care of the mail and other things. Highly recommend”

“Carla was amazing. I am a new pet parent who just rescued my pup a little over a month ago. I was SO NERVOUS to leave him for the first time. Carla sent so many pictures of my baby and gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was incredibly flexible and accommodating when I had to reschedule my trip due to a family member getting covid. Carla was very communicative throughout the process and I will absolutely trust her to watch my baby again.”

“Emily was fantastic!!! She was able to come on short notice to watch my blind dog while I was at an appointment, pictures were sent while I was out and more importantly my lil man was kept safe and cared for!! Talk about peace of mind she made my day worry free, Thank You So Much!”

“Joe was great with our pup Ripple. He came the day before for a meet and greet and got comfortable with her. On the day we were gone he sent lots of updates so we knew she was doing well.”

About: I live in downtown Richmond, have an aussiedoodle, work remotely and manage 2 AirBnB properties with over 870 reviews (4.93 rating), speaking to my professionalism, reliability, cleanliness, and communication skills. For the past 10 years I have been pet/house sitting for friends and referrals as my flexible schedule has made space for these opportunities and I am finally making it official by starting a Rover Profile. I love all pets and will treat them with the utmost respect, love, care and consistency, as I will also treat your home. With my AirBnB experience I also know it can be unsettling having strangers enter your space. I will be respectful, maintain your privacy, communicate any concerns that may arise, always double check all doors are locked, and never let your toilet stay running for days. All while doting on your 4 (or 3 or 2)-legged family member. My schedule is flexible and each week can be different so let me know what your wishes are for frequency of check-ins (as well as live in vs. drop by care) and we can come up with a plan together! I offer a wide array of services depending on what you and your pet desire. I can let them outside, take them on walks, give them snuggles and love, play time, and I will always clean up after them.

Emily did such a wonderful job taking care of my girl. She sent regular, helpful updates, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was out of town. I came home to a very happy dog, and she was also incredibly respectful of my house. I would definitely have her back.

DJ was absolutely wonderful! In the face of some extenuating circumstances he took great care of our pup. We’ll definitely be keeping him in mind for any future sittings as he was prompt with replies and sent so many updates allowing us to enjoy our vacation with very little worry!

We had an amazing experience with Elizabeth during our 10 day trip! She took such wonderful care of our dogs and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She was communicative, sent us lots of updates and pictures, and it was obvious our pups were happy, comfortable, and well loved. Coming home to happy, relaxed dogs was the best feeling. We truly appreciated all the care and attention she gave them and would absolutely book with her again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!

Leaving our three dogs behind is never easy because each of them has their own unique personality, routines, and needs. From the moment Jasmine started caring for them, we knew they were in the best hands. Every day she kept us updated with thoughtful messages and wonderful photos, which gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious from every interaction that she genuinely loves animals and truly enjoys what she does. That passion shines through in the exceptional care she provides. Our dogs absolutely adored her! She didn't just feed and let them out—she played with them, gave them affection, and treated each one as an individual. It was clear she took the time to get to know their different personalities and made sure each of them felt happy, loved, and comfortable. We joke that she's become our dogs' step-parent, but there's a lot of truth in that—she cares for them as if they were her own. If you're looking for someone who is reliable, communicative, playful, compassionate, and genuinely devoted to animals, we cannot recommend Jasmine highly enough. She is truly one of a kind, and we are so grateful to have found her.

Amber was a fantastic dog and house sitter while we were away for 8 days! Both of our dogs have a few peculiarities that she was able to navigate, our home was very clean when we got home, and the dogs were very well loved! She communicated well and was reliable throughout the entire booking/sitting process.

Lindy was so lovely. She was a great communicator- she sent me photos and a pup update each day. She took careful care of Sadie’s senior needs. When I got home, Sadie girl seemed at ease and the house was in order. I am grateful for Lindy’s time spent with Sadie and would recommend her as a sitter to anyone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
