“Matt is amazing !! I moved to Richmond for work for 13 weeks and he has made my life easier taking care of my 1 year old puppy, Paige. His dog, Cooper is super super sweet. And Paige comes home exhausted from all the fun she has had ! Very grateful for Matt’s help”

“Peyton was amazing! Checked in with us regularly and ensured Jupiter had a great time. We will definitely book with Peyton again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our sweet girl!”

“Ayme was great with our dog coconut. She made note of all of our dog’s needs and I felt very comfortable leaving our dog in her care. She had a nice time playing with Ayme’s dog and other dogs that were there. Definitely recommend Ayme and will use her services again.”

“Jordan took great care of Lola. She was friendly, flexible, and communicative. Lola had a wonderful day with her and Callie May. It's clear she felt very comfortable and at home.”

“This was Deuce (my Yorkie’s) first dog care experience and it was a successful. Ethel was a great communicator and made this a great experience. Although this was the first time, it certainly will not be the last! Thank you Ethel!”

“Susan and Josh were such great hosts for June! Lots of outdoor space, and other dogs to hang out with. I would recommend this home to any pet and will use again if we’re in the area!”

“Myrna is a great sitter. She has taken excellent care of Starbuck. We have scheduled doggie day care and boarding. Myrna's schedule is flexible and she works with us on drop off and pickup times. We will continue to use Myrna's services.”

“Elizabeth was amazing with Tater. He’s a puppy and, while the goodest of boys, takes some energy and a little patience. She even exposed him to her cat and gave us a full report on how he did with Miso so we’d know for future bookings. She was super flexible with our timing heading to/from Story Land with the kiddos and kept us up to date on what our littlest dude was up to while we were crushing the Polarcoaster.”

“Michelle took good care of my pup. Her dog Milo is a sweetie. She has a nice yard for them to play in and my dog also enjoyed relaxing by her side on the couch.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs since I was about 10 years old. I currently volunteer at our local animal shelter and have a dog of my own I rescued in college. I also rescued a cat when I was a bit younger and working in the foster system with cats. I genuinely love pets so much and have experience with older pets, administering medication, puppies, and even aggressive dogs. I’m currently working full-time for the leasing office at the property I live at. I love my job because my own furry companion comes to work with me everyday. I have completely free time on weekends to care for your furry friends and am free most weekday afternoons and can make windows of time throughout the week. My dog and I live in an apartment building and he was crate trained when he was a puppy. I would walk your dog using whatever harness/leash you prefer making sure their paws are safe and are well taken care of. I can give them enrichment time from doing training, playing with toys, or running around outside if there is a place they can do so safely.
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t say enough wonderful things about Miguel and his wife! They took amazing care of my fur baby, Church, for the past three days, and the experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment we met, Miguel made sure that Church felt comfortable and safe, even introducing him to their own dog to help them get along. His understanding of dog language, especially with big dogs like mine, is truly impressive. Miguel and his wife are such pleasant, caring people. They kept me informed every step of the way, sending updates and even videos, which gave me so much peace of mind. They’re incredibly accommodating, even fitting us in on short notice, which I really appreciated. Church came back home happy, tired, and clearly well-loved. I could tell he had a great time because he’s been so content and relaxed. I’m beyond grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and the genuine care they showed my dog. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy and amazing with dogs, Miguel and his wife are the best choice. Thank you both so much! How does that look? If there’s anything else you’d like to tweak, just let me know! I can’t say enough wonderful things about Miguel and his wife! Dog parents share their Rover experiences - East Highland Park
Luna felt at home, she went with Nina as if she was familiar with her and she didn’t even look back, great sitter Luna was probably confused as to why we went to get her, she was super calm and happy when we picked her up, we will definitely book Nina Again when we are in town!

I can’t even say how amazing Farrah has been with my pups. A true life saver and they would absolutely rather be with her any day of the week than home. The exciting when we get close to her house is over the top. We are so grateful to have found her and any dog that gets her care will be over the moon :)

Jasmine was absolutely wonderful, and I really appreciated her quick communication, attention to detail, and compassion! She was able to respond to my last minute booking request and meet with me the same day. My dog had SO much fun with Jasmine’s dogs and the rest of her little crew. She really trusts Jasmine and actively looks forward to going to daycare camp. My dog is stubborn and will definitely let me know if she doesn’t like someone, so it was a relief to know she was spending her day having a good time. I got photos and updates throughout the day, and Jasmine responded quickly whenever I messaged her. I appreciated the flexibility with coordinating drop off/pick up times. Didn’t use her home pick up services, but it’s a nice option to consider. My dog had an awesome experience, and it was wayyyy better for her to be making friends and having fun than staying at home and waiting for me to come back. Highly recommend!!

Matt is fantastic. My dog Ru loves going to his house so much that she sprints to his front door and will not look back for me at all. She has a great time with him and when I pick her up she is happy and tired in the best way. He clearly has a great understanding of dogs and is very professional and communicative. I feel completely confident leaving my girl there and I know she has the absolute best care.

Elizabeth is amazing! Bear has significant separation anxiety and it was clear from the minute he met Elizabeth he was going to be fine. She sent me pictures and videos of him and he was calm and at ease at her home. I’ll definitely be rebooking with Elizabeth!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your East Highland Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
