Cynthia did such a great job watching my dog while I was away for a few hours! She was super flexible with how long she watched him, kept me updated with pictures, and had great communication throughout. It gave me such peace of mind knowing he was in good hands and being treated like her own. I highly recommend Cynthia and would definitely have her watch my dog again! :)

Nashi was phenomenal! One of our pups wasn’t feeling well right before we left, and it’s always difficult to leave when something like that is going on. Nashi stepped right in and took excellent care, provided updates, and calmed my worried mind. We absolutely recommend Nashi and will be requesting her care again in the future for our pups, too.

Diego was AMAZING with my dog Pierce while I was away on a business trip (aka not-so-fun adulting). Meanwhile, Pierce was clearly living his best life—walks, snuggles, and the full VIP treatment. Diego even let him sleep in bed like the little diva he is, which Pierce absolutely expects. I got daily updates and the cutest pics, and came home to a happy pup and spotless home. Total peace of mind. 1000% would book again—Pierce is already packing his overnight bag!

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats of every kind since I was 12 years old. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to check in with, feed, exercise / walk, and play with their pets with trust and appreciation. Rover clients / pet-care and house sitting have my full attention, and 100% commitment! I am available for whatever routine requirements are currently needed, as scheduling dictates. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and preferences. I’m happy to follow your instructions and keep their normal routine as consistent as possible. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I would my own — keeping things tidy, being mindful, and making sure your home feels cared for while you’re gone.

We highly recommend Dylan’s services, especially if you have pets that need special attention and/or you require house-sitting services. Dylan went above and beyond to care for our dogs and our home! Because one of our dogs—a deaf, senior, Boston Terrier w/multiple health issues—is particularly high maintenance and we were to depart quite early in the morning, Dylan was amenable to coming to our home in advance for a meet and greet and to get up to speed w/atypical feeding and fairly extensive medication, our household needs, etc. We really appreciated his willingness on that count! During our 5 day trip, Dylan remained very attentive to our dogs and their needs and sent many photos to document. He was quick to respond when we checked in but did not hesitate to also let us know if he observed anything out of the ordinary. We received loads of pictures each day to let us know all was well. Since Dylan’s primary work is remote, he was able to be onsite with our dogs and our home not only overnight but much of each day as well. Between multiple walks each day, Dylan retrieved packages and mail, watered outdoor plants and more. Then Dylan again went above and beyond for our return. Our quite late return flight meant we didn’t return home until midnight. Dylan was more than accommodating. Upon our return we found happy, well-cared for dogs and our home in as good or better condition than when we left.

This is the 3rd time Shania has done obernights with my Maine Coons in a short period of time. I recently went on vacation for 6 days and Shania did a wonderful job of taking care of them, playing with them, and even cuddling with them - which means they must love her bc while MCs are loving Velcro cats, they aren’t lap cats for the most part. They really enjoy her company. She also went out of her way to wash a throw blanket that one of them threw up on, and even surprised me by washing my bath mats and bedding and remaking the bed bc she knew my flight home was very late and that I’d be ready to go to sleep. She always cleans up after her visits (which I certainly don’t expect but appreciate) while still making herself at home - always a compliment to the host bc when someone can enjoy your space and pets when you cant be there to do it. I’ll continue booking with her as long as I can bc she’s the absolute best!

I am the first to admit Enzo is a handful and will keep you busy. I booked Michelle last month for a week long trip, and then just did a one night work trip - both times she was nothing less than amazing. She communicates well, shares lot’s of photos, and is so sweet and patient with my boy, and based on the pictures I can tell he’s obsessed with her!

Avy was absolutely wonderful! Lyla is a big baby and definitely likes things her way, and Avy was patient and sweet with her, happily accommodating all her little quirks. From the start, it was clear Lyla was comfortable and well cared for. Avy was professional, pleasant, and dependable, and she sent regular updates that gave me peace of mind and let me relax while I was away. I also came home to a clean, well-cared-for house, which was a wonderful bonus. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would absolutely trust Avy with Lyla and my home again, and I know Lyla can’t wait to see her! Highly recommend!

I cannot recommend Rory enough. She was the best house guest and Poppy’s best friend the entire time she sat for us. I felt so confident leaving Poppy in her care, and she shared multiple updates and photos daily. She cared for our home as if it was her own, even offering to take out the trash, unloaded our dishwasher, washed and refilled the bath towels, and prepped Poppy’s belongings together for our friends that planned to watch her next during our time away. Her professionalism and passion for animals is unmatched and I will be booking her many times more in the future!

My Lila loves Merry! We get plenty of photos pupdates throughout the trip. She goes on walks, gets snacks and plenty of outside time! Recently Lila was sick which is always concerning with a senior dog but Merry kept us up to date and stayed a little past the agreed time so Lila was alone shorter before we got back since our flight was delayed. Merry always leaves the house in the condition, if not better, than she found it!!

Tyler and Jordan are officially the most favorite humans of Nori and Dillon! They responded immediately to our request for in-home house sitting for 2 weeks for our two german shepherds. They provided daily videos and pictures of our fur babies, kept to their kinda complicated feeding and walking instructions, and provided a loving and wonderful sitting experience for our pups. We had a fabulous vacation with the peace of mind Tyler and Jordan gave us. And our house was SPOTLESS when we got back! We love Tyler and Jordan! 1000/10!

FAQs for House Sitting - Dallas

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Dallas on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 5,083 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dallas. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dallas walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dallas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dallas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dallas. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
