“Leaving our pets behind is never easy, but Diego made the entire experience stress-free. He treated our pet like family and gave them so much love and attention. He even brought them to the park and had a play date with some other friendly dogs! Coming home to relaxed pet and a clean house meant everything to us.”

“Hunter is great and my dogs love him. I would highly recommend hunter for anyone that is looking for house sitting. This is ideal for our dogs because they are used to someone being home with them most of the time and at night so I can go on vacation and not worry that my fur babies are stressed rather I know they are in good hands and having a fun time with Hunter!”

“Tiffany made me feel like a family member was watching my dog. He’s extremely high energy and can be a lot for someone else but Tiffany not only did an amazing job taking care of Louie but allowed me to feel like he was actually enjoying his time instead of when I’ve boarded him the past!”

“Yuliana is always so fabulous! She is easy to communicate with, takes great care and sends tons of photos. Really enjoy having her watch my dog rocco and try to use her whenever I travel.”

“Morgan was fantastic with my girl Jovi over the holidays! She was very accommodating about a few unexpected requests I had to make last minute, sent pics throughout her stay that showed Jovi was super comfortable & content with her, and left my place exactly as she found it. Will definitely rebook!”

“Clover was an awesome cat whisperer, once again! When she came to get our key, Finn seemed to remember her-he came right out to greet her when he is often careful of guests. Our shy Raven demanded daily brushings! Clover sent us great pics every day of all 3 kittes and left our house neat and clean. We feel very blessed to have her watching our fur babies.”

“Mario was such a godsend! We have had very tough time finding care for our fur babies as one of them is a nervous, defensive dog. Mario was extremely communicative and patient to make sure Noodles trusted and feel safe around him. He sent recaps and photos to our liking to make sure we also feel safe. 10/10. Will rebook every time we need someone to take care of our babies!”

“Jessica did a great job taking care of our dogs & cat. Our cat is epileptic, and she took all of the medication & safety protocols very seriously as we had hoped. Great communication & left our house in great shape. No issues. Would recommend.”
About: I am the kind of person that will stop you on your walk to pet your dog. I’ve loved caring for animals since I was a child - both feral and domestic. My clients trust me to get to know their pet and that is how I selectively cater unique care to the individual pets. I have a pretty flexible schedule. For dog walking in particular during business work hours (9-5), I am most available M-F. You’ll notice my service radius is small and that’s because I don’t have a car living in DC so I walk or metro everywhere. I already have a cat friendly home for my 2 kittens, as well as a pet-friendly community. My apartment building has a dog park and I even take my cats to the courtyard on leash. My favorite part of caring for cats is playing different games with them and making sure they get enough pets that they purr up a storm. My home is steps away from many parks and trails. I personally love going on long walks and am more than happy to have a furry companion alongside. If you have an active dog I would be more than happy to take them on a hike as well. Sticking to routine is of the upmost important so I make sure your pet stays on track based on times for eating, walking, playing, etc.
“Chaka was amazing with my girl! She has a special temperament at times and they seemed to get on just fine without me. As long as she is willing I will have Chaka back time and again.”

“Averille is simply the best!! I have two dogs (one big and dumb, one small and old) and one cat (the cat). None of them have any manners and all of them are used to me being around almost always. I travel for work more and more now so a dependable person to take care of them and more importantly distract them from my absence makes everything better. Averille fit that need perfectly!! Upon my return my animals were happy and warn out and my house safe and sound. That peace of mind is not something I take for granted. Averille’s friendly, proactive approach was next level! I can’t thank her enough!!”

“Megan was awesome with my dog this weekend! She was available so last minute and helped us so much. We received so many pictures and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with Megan! I will definitely use her services again in the future!”

“Rory was great! She sent tons of pictures and videos and took great care of our pup. She was very communicative and responsive, and left the house cleaner than we left it!”

“Briana showed up on time and it was obvious she loves dogs. Our two immediately responded positively to her. She made sure the job was understood and kept us informed. She did an excellent job.”

“Shawndreal recently house sat for my old, 13 year old dog. She did an amazing job! I needed a last minute house sitter, and Shawndreal exceeded my expectations. She met with my dog and me beforehand, and asked great questions, and I could tell she genuinely cared for my dog's well being. She took great care of my dog while I was away, and followed all of the supplement and medicine guidelines and even sent updates when they were completed. She took my dog on his required walks and sent pictures and updates. Shawndreal left the house just the way I left it, spotless. When I got home, my dog didn't leave her side, I felt a little jealous LOL. She was a great house sitter, and I'm truly thankful for her efforts. Will definitely use again.”

“Kyle did a great job taking care of our pup! He sent us plenty of updates and kept the house clean. He was very attentive, responsive, and responsible! Will definitely use him again!”

Shania was such a great sitter! I have 2 Maine coon kittens that I was nervous to leave overnight unsupervised. Shania clearly loves cats and knows a lot about taking care of them. She made the whole process super easy and the kitties took to her almost immediately. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Loveeeeee the top of the line service! We have 7 babies and finding someone we can trust and actually interact with them rather than leaving them in cages all day was a must! Manny&Rob were AMAZING! Interactions with each pup was definitely made and pups were so in love with them! Will definitely be using them again! Updates and photos were sent which eased the nervousness! Thank you both so much!!!

I can not stress Dylan in the BEST! I never worry that my dogs are getting loving care when they are in his hands. Weather pop ins for walks for staying over to house sit, whenever I get back in town they are always happy and calm! My two biggest signs they have been tended too! Will confine to use Dylan, he is my main guy!

Alyssa was fantastic! She came by to meet our dog before her stay, which we really appreciated, and she took excellent care of her while we were away. She was very communicative, responsive, and kept us updated throughout. We felt completely at ease knowing our dog was in such good hands. We would absolutely book with Alyssa again and highly recommend her!

Morgan did a great job watching our precious Goldie dog! She spent the night and was there morning, noon and night to let her out and feed her. She sent us daily photos and kept us up-to-date with everything that was going on with Goldie. We would definitely book her again!!

Layne, as always was terrific. We were only disappointed that Rover.com charged us holiday rate for all 10 days for one federal holiday Juneteenth. Not Layne's fault but wanted to let others know this can happen. We only hope he received a lot of that increase because he deserves it. Layne manages Lacey's allergies so well and her new medication and feeding regiment is pretty complicated. We are always confident to leave our 4 year old dog with him. Thanks again Layne.

Just had an amazing week of vacation thanks to Rory ! I never doubted her abilities to take care of my babies or my home while we were gone. She kept us informed daily and was always available to communicate. Our babies were well taken care of and it showed when we walked in the door ! They had been well loved on. We will definitely use Rory again and again !

She’s absolutely amazing!! She took such great care of my boys (angry cat and gentle giant dog) she sent fantastic pictures and updates. She made me feel so much better about leaving my home and my boys in her wonderful care! I cannot recommend her highly enough!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,269 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
