“Alex was a great sitter for Winston and Simba! She communicated really well leading up to and throughout the sit. We’re so happy that Winston had someone to take him on walks and play games to keep him stimulated while we were away. Thanks for taking great care of our boys!”

“Molly was absolutely amazing. She communicated clearly and provided daily updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She was also fully prepared to administer medications to our two senior dogs without any issues. All of our babies clearly loved her, and we came home to a clean house and happy, healthy pets. We’re so grateful for the wonderful care she provided! 🐾”

“Oline took such wonderful care of our babies all weekend long! She was very communicative and provided much appreciated updates to us! We would book her again in a heartbeat!!”

“I would highly, highly recommend Kristie! She did such an amazing job with our dog Josie, who had just lost her sister a few days before we went away. Kristie made sure that Josie was comforted and had all the extra love and care so she didn't feel lonely. We also received daily pictures and updates so we knew Josie was well taken care of. Having lost a dog before we left, we were uneasy about leaving Josie behind. But Kristie made us feel 100% like Josie was in the best hands and we knew she genuinely cared for her like she was her own. That was very meaningful to us. And, when we returned home, Kristie left a very thoughtful gift for us, which was a plant in memory of the dog we had just lost. I can't say how much that meant to us. Again, highly, highly recommend Kristie!”

“Hailey was great with our two dogs! She took amazing care of them while we were gone and sent tons of updates and photos. I would definitely trust her with my dogs again.”

“Nicole was wonderful! She was so easy to work with, kept us updated throughout the week, and took great care of our Anatolian. We’re excited to have her dog sit again in the future!”

“Acacia took such amazing care of our pets and our home while we were out of the country for 8 nights! She was consistent and reliable and we could not be more pleased. She was incredibly thoughtful and even went out of her way to replace our vase with fresh flowers!! 🌼 100% recommend!!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs my whole life as I have grown up with them. I love animals and enjoy getting to know their personality. I'm dependable, detail oriented, and keep owners updated with lots of photos. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and cared for while giving owners peace of mind while away. Caring for pets is something I truly enjoy, so it's an easy and rewarding part of my weekly routine. I intentionally leave flexibility in my schedule to accommodate visits, walks, and quality time with the pets I care for. I am going to college in late August and will not be available to sit past then. By making sure all their needs are met and doing everything the owner asks me to do. I do my best to maintain the pets normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure in their familiar environment.
“Took great care of my dog who had kennel cough, including getting him to take his medicine, even as he kept getting more creative on how to avoid that. Would recommend!”
“Jessica was amazing with our dogs. She was very patient With our great dane who is not sure of new people sometimes. Both are our dogs were calm and happy when we came back which shows what a great job jessica did. She Followed all the house and dog instructions and we would hire her again in future for our pups. She was a delight to work with.”

“David did a wonderful job dog sitting in our house with our energetic golden retriever. He communicated with us daily while we were away and send pictures which was great! We came back to a happy dog and a clean house. Would highly recommend and definitely will use David again in the future.”

“Stephany is hand down one of the best!!! She is not only kind but very professional! She takes good care of the dogs and follow all the instructions! I love her”
About: Fortunately I have a circle of friends who are also pet owners, because of this I have been given the opportunity to care for both cats and dogs. As a pet owner myself, I have seen everything under the sun when it comes to pet care. I am a copywriter who works from home so I am available to care for your bet. Also, your pet is probably going to help me look away from the screen :) From the 2 senior chihuahuas I have, to my past experience in caring for other people's pets, I feel comfortable caring for many different animals no matter the size. From pitbulls, to yorkies, and even cats. As someone with 2 senior pets, no task is too big or too tedious!
About: I have fostered pets and cared for small dogs! I have also cared for hamsters, kittens, and elderly pets. I am happy to spend time with your pets! I currently have an open availability to care for your pets! My colleague Micah is also available to provide pet care on days/times when I'm not available. Kindly message me for times and days and we can work around that schedule! I make sure to keep my environment safe for pets by putting away cable cords, choking hazards, or anything else that may pose a safety risk to pets.
“Lyn did a great job watching our cat Tibby and dog Tanzi for two days. She showed up when expected, took good care of both pets, and everything was in great shape when we returned home. We really appreciated her reliability and would be happy to book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Natalie is a critical part in balancing my work travel schedule and ensuring I have great care for my dog. Natalie is professional, friendly, and a great person all around. Highly recommend her.”

“If it wasn’t morally improper, I’d write a bad review so that no one took her from me. From the first meet and greet, she was amazing. She cared for my dogs in a way I could only hope someone would (they are sweet and kind but not always firing on all cylinders). I was 8,000 miles away and not for a second doubted they were in good hands. She was professional, and detailed, and kind and friendly. My only gripe is that I think they like her more than me now. She is responsive, and caring, and thoughtful. Daily videos, and check ins, and updates. She took care of my house as well as she did my dogs. All I can say is you’d be lucky to have her. She’s a true blessing.”

Nicole was wonderful with my senior dog Daisy. This was my first time leaving her overnight since she was diagnosed with a high-grade heart murmur, so I wanted someone who would stay with her and make sure her medications were given every 12 hours. Nicole did exactly that. She checked in at the beginning and end of the stay, everything looked great when I got home, and Daisy was happy and well cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Nicole again.

Christy is the kind of Rover sitter you can truly trust. She showed up right on time and stayed with our crew for the full four days, and they were never left alone overnight. She took excellent care of them—she was attentive, calm, and engaged, making time to play with them every day. I’d absolutely call her reliable and consistent, and we would book her again without hesitation.

I would highly, highly recommend Kristie! Again, highly, highly recommend Kristie!

Maria was great with our babies. She shared sweet pictures and was super communicative with us while we were gone. One of our girls can get really nervous when it’s stormy, and she did a great job working with her. We appreciated her patience and understanding. We would gladly use Maria again!

Angela was amazing with our pups, especially one that is very anxious. She knew exactly what to do to keep her feeling comfortable and provided plenty of updates while we were gone. She even bought them some treats and left the house in fantastic shape. She came early and stayed late when our travel plans changed. Her flexibility is unmatched and we are very thankful for her!

Lina took care of my dog and cat for two weeks while I was away, and I’m very grateful for all her help. She was sweet, caring, communicative, and clearly gave my pets a lot of attention and love while I was gone. My dog can be a little anxious and high maintenance at times, and she was very patient with him throughout the stay. It gave me peace of mind knowing my babies were safe and cared for. Thank you again, Lina 😊

Janelle was absolutely amazing! She kept me consistently updated throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. My puppy Nyx struggles with separation anxiety, and Janelle handled it with so much care, patience, and understanding. It’s clear she genuinely loves what she does. She truly went above and beyond to make sure Nyx and my other dog Eros were comfortable and well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Janelle again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and compassionate sitter.

Reem was absolutely fantastic. She took wonderful care of our 3-year-old golden retriever, and he was happy and clearly well looked after when we returned. She also did an excellent job with our home, leaving everything in perfect order. Her communication throughout the stay was clear, consistent, and reassuring. We were able to fully enjoy our vacation without any worries, knowing everything was in great hands. Reem truly went above and beyond, and we would happily book her again. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Richardson walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Richardson maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richardson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richardson. On Rover:

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
