“This is our 2nd time to have Jill here and she was just wonderful again!! She stayed at our house to take care of our dog and cat for 3 1/2 days. She continued to send pictures, communicate with us, and update us whet she was leaving for the end of the stay. She left such a detailed message upon leaving and made sure to see if we needed anything else first. She even took the cover off the bed and put it in the washer for me to do when we got home. Once again, highly highly recommend having Jill take care of your babies! (She was even wonderful with our human kids :)”

“I’ve used Riley for our two fur-babies and love her!! Our babies stay overnight for a few days at a time while we travel and she communicates through out the day with messages. Pictures, and videos Definitely will continue using her services 💕”

“It was such a pleasure having Oline watch my pack overnight. She has such a calm and serene presence that it didn’t take long for them to match her energy. Also, this woman takes FABULOUS pictures! I’m going to frame some. Thank you again, Oline ❤️”

“I would highly, highly recommend Kristie! She did such an amazing job with our dog Josie, who had just lost her sister a few days before we went away. Kristie made sure that Josie was comforted and had all the extra love and care so she didn't feel lonely. We also received daily pictures and updates so we knew Josie was well taken care of. Having lost a dog before we left, we were uneasy about leaving Josie behind. But Kristie made us feel 100% like Josie was in the best hands and we knew she genuinely cared for her like she was her own. That was very meaningful to us. And, when we returned home, Kristie left a very thoughtful gift for us, which was a plant in memory of the dog we had just lost. I can't say how much that meant to us. Again, highly, highly recommend Kristie!”

“We could not have asked for better sitters than Lyn and Lenny! They took amazing care of our dog, Red, while we were away in Europe for two weeks. Coming over three times a day, they were incredibly reliable, attentive, and caring. We loved receiving their daily updates and picture check-ins, which gave us total peace of mind throughout our entire trip. Red was so well loved, and we would highly recommend Lyn and Lenny to anyone looking for exceptional pet care!”

“Brittany is an amazing house sitter. We have a puppy and she helped with crate training, which required lots of patience. Brittany loves dogs and does a great Job taking care of our home and our dog. Highly recommended!”

“Rhonda was great as a sort of last minute booking as our usual dog sitter was unable to watch them. She sent pictures of the babies! She even clipped our cats “murder mittens” as we completely forgot to do that before we left. The animals seemed to love her and she took care of our home! 10/10 recommended!”

“Took great care of my dog who had kennel cough, including getting him to take his medicine, even as he kept getting more creative on how to avoid that. Would recommend!”
“Molly was absolutely amazing. She communicated clearly and provided daily updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She was also fully prepared to administer medications to our two senior dogs without any issues. All of our babies clearly loved her, and we came home to a clean house and happy, healthy pets. We’re so grateful for the wonderful care she provided! 🐾”

“Emily did an amazing job watching our dogs over the weekend! She was very responsible, reliable, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She kept us updated and made sure our pups were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

“Nicole was wonderful with my senior dog Daisy. This was my first time leaving her overnight since she was diagnosed with a high-grade heart murmur, so I wanted someone who would stay with her and make sure her medications were given every 12 hours. Nicole did exactly that. She checked in at the beginning and end of the stay, everything looked great when I got home, and Daisy was happy and well cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Nicole again.”

“Hailey was great with our two dogs! She took amazing care of them while we were gone and sent tons of updates and photos. I would definitely trust her with my dogs again.”

“Ashley was very communicative and made sure all the pets needs would be met during our meet and greet. Then the actual visit went great, she did a great job taking care of their needs and letting me know how they were doing. I can tell they were treated well and given much love, which would make me feel more than safe continuing to use her in the future! ✌️”

“David did a wonderful job dog sitting in our house with our energetic golden retriever. He communicated with us daily while we were away and send pictures which was great! We came back to a happy dog and a clean house. Would highly recommend and definitely will use David again in the future.”

“We love Matthew and our 2 sweet labs were very spoiled. They were really comfortable and Matthew did a wonderful job taking care of them and giving them the attention they needed.”

About: I've taken care of dogs for about four years now. I first started when my roommate left for Korea for about a month. I've always had an affinity towards dogs so taking care of his dog made me want to take care of other dogs as well. Ever since then, I've been able to take care of 18 other dogs. Whether it be playing with your pets or walking them around or going potty, I have everything covered! I have time to take care of your pets on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between the times of 11:30 AM to midnight. Also, Saturdays I am free whenever. I focus on keeping pets comfortable by following their normal routine for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest. Whether in my home or the client’s home, I prioritize safety, cleanliness, and lots of attention. I also send regular updates and photos so owners can feel confident their pet is happy and well cared for.
“Kristen was incredibly attentive and caring to my babies. She was responsive, loving, and attentive to Lua and Lea. I received regular updates and observed how comfortable my dogs were with her. I could enjoy my vacationin peace! I highly recommend booking her again!”

Tyler has watched our two Great Danes multiple times in our home and has always provided great service & communication. He gives informative periodic updates and gets the best pictures. We always return to happy dogs that are healthy and exercised and the house always looks well cared for. Definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved having Erin watch our boys and will rebook again! She stuck to our routines while we were out of town for 10 days and took care of our babies like they’re her own. She kept constant communication despite us have questionable cell service and sent us a million pictures every day! She even had crocheted them their own bandannas!! Loved having her in own home!

Christy is the kind of Rover sitter you can truly trust. She showed up right on time and stayed with our crew for the full four days, and they were never left alone overnight. She took excellent care of them—she was attentive, calm, and engaged, making time to play with them every day. I’d absolutely call her reliable and consistent, and we would book her again without hesitation.

Maria was great with our babies. She shared sweet pictures and was super communicative with us while we were gone. One of our girls can get really nervous when it’s stormy, and she did a great job working with her. We appreciated her patience and understanding. We would gladly use Maria again!

Angela was amazing with our pups, especially one that is very anxious. She knew exactly what to do to keep her feeling comfortable and provided plenty of updates while we were gone. She even bought them some treats and left the house in fantastic shape. She came early and stayed late when our travel plans changed. Her flexibility is unmatched and we are very thankful for her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Richardson on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 4,881 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Richardson. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Richardson walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Richardson maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richardson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richardson. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
