“Molly was absolutely amazing. She communicated clearly and provided daily updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She was also fully prepared to administer medications to our two senior dogs without any issues. All of our babies clearly loved her, and we came home to a clean house and happy, healthy pets. We’re so grateful for the wonderful care she provided! 🐾”

“I would highly, highly recommend Kristie! She did such an amazing job with our dog Josie, who had just lost her sister a few days before we went away. Kristie made sure that Josie was comforted and had all the extra love and care so she didn't feel lonely. We also received daily pictures and updates so we knew Josie was well taken care of. Having lost a dog before we left, we were uneasy about leaving Josie behind. But Kristie made us feel 100% like Josie was in the best hands and we knew she genuinely cared for her like she was her own. That was very meaningful to us. And, when we returned home, Kristie left a very thoughtful gift for us, which was a plant in memory of the dog we had just lost. I can't say how much that meant to us. Again, highly, highly recommend Kristie!”

“Jasmine was great with Max! She sent pictures a few times today to let me know ow how he was doing. And I feel like she left my house cleaner than I left it! Highly recommend - will use again for sure!”

“Awesome experience..Happy dog! Kyle stayed at our house for extended weekend with our Hazel and her disposition was so much better than when she is boarded while we are gone. Kyle went above and beyond on also taking care of the house and communicating with us! I definitely would use him again!”

About: I've been a foster carer for various greyhound organizations here (ATX and DFW) and in Australia. I get the hounds that are cat safe and get them used to living with cats. I'm always fostering, which is why I cannot take in more dogs for sitting, but I can do pop-ins. Before I fostered greyhounds, I used to petsit for friends' parents. I love to scritch ears, make up stupid songs for them, and play on the floor. My current pack consists of two sighthound mixes and two middle-management cats. Am I Katy or Mary? Both. The joy of going by either the first name or the nickname. You can call me Katy. The IRS can keep calling me Mary ... and please, if you're from IRS, don't call me. I am currently working from home and would love the excuse to get out and walk or, when it's really too hot, engage in play in the backyard. I am mindful of the various personalities I could encounter. I understand that not all pets want to play. Some want to chill and know that you're there. Others need to get that energy out. When doing pop ins, I would be mindful of what their humans say.
“Debbie was fantastic. She house sat and watched our two larger (and older) dogs. The girls were well cared for with medication and being spoiled. She sent regular updates and asked great questions before staying. Highly recommend Debbie!”

“Marisol always does great with Rocky. He always appears to have been well taken care of and enjoys her company. She also handled a confusing situation at my home and made Rocky's care the priority. She has been great.”

“Jessica was amazing with our dogs. She was very patient With our great dane who is not sure of new people sometimes. Both are our dogs were calm and happy when we came back which shows what a great job jessica did. She Followed all the house and dog instructions and we would hire her again in future for our pups. She was a delight to work with.”

“Latisha was fantastic! She watched over our two pups for a weekend in our home. She sent frequent updates and photos. She took the time to help our anxious dog acclimate to her being there. The house was tidy when we arrived home. I will definitely use her again!”
“Madelyn came to our home to care for our new puppy while we were out of town. We've never had an in-home sitter and can't say enough positive comments about Madelyn and this experience! She was exceptionally communicative throughout the weekend with numerous updates and pictures. Madelyn clearly has a love of animals that shows in her care and interactions. We highly recommend Madelyn to help you care for your pets when you're away! She will definitely be the first one we contact if we are in need of an in-home pet sitter again!”

“Haley is the best sitter we have had! She takes the time to meet and understand your dogs’ needs first. I really appreciate all the updates she provides-videos, photos and messages so you know what is going on with your babies. She is extremely kind to my dogs and communicates very well. Highly recommend!”

“Barbara always takes such good care of our dogs! She stayed at our house this time and did a wonderful job. We love receiving the regular updates she sends. We know Dixie and Cupid are in great hands with Barbara!”

About: I've owned dogs all of my life, worked with K-9 units during my 12 years in the military and I am a P..TS.D. service dog handler. I am trained in canine C.P.R and work in Emergency Veterinary Medicine. I am able to administer oral and injected medications if need be. I am also able to provide care for special needs dogs and have experience with senior dogs and puppies. I don't believe that there is such a thing as a bad dog or bad breed. And I know, being a dog owner and a service dog handler, that most pet owners are like me....they're NOT pets....they're FAMILY. Retired military and now retiring from Emergency Veterinary Medicine, so I'm now available 24/7 for pet care, walks and pet sitting, check-ins and even just stopping by to help administer medications, fluids or treatments prescribed by your veterinarian. Animals thrive on love and attention just like people do. Interaction and activity are crucial to physical and mental health. The only difference between humans and animals is that they're covered in fur and we have opposable thumbs.

“London was great! She was extremely responsive, respectful and flexible. She took great care of Dogman, sent picture updates and made sure we stayed informed. I would definitely book with her again!”

“If it wasn’t morally improper, I’d write a bad review so that no one took her from me. From the first meet and greet, she was amazing. She cared for my dogs in a way I could only hope someone would (they are sweet and kind but not always firing on all cylinders). I was 8,000 miles away and not for a second doubted they were in good hands. She was professional, and detailed, and kind and friendly. My only gripe is that I think they like her more than me now. She is responsive, and caring, and thoughtful. Daily videos, and check ins, and updates. She took care of my house as well as she did my dogs. All I can say is you’d be lucky to have her. She’s a true blessing.”

“Roua was great! I highly recommend her. We have two large dogs that can be over whelming for most people. When we got home, the house was clean and our dogs looked happy & seemed well exercised. My husband and I use Roover several times a year and have had both good and bad experiences so we were grateful to found Roua.”

“Hailey was great with our two dogs! She took amazing care of them while we were gone and sent tons of updates and photos. I would definitely trust her with my dogs again.”

About: I've helped friends, family, neighbors, co workers and many more by dog sitting, walking, feeding, and giving medicine to their pets. Have experience with a wide range of breeds including Great Danes, Cane Corsos, Rottweiler, Frenchies, Cavaliers, German Shepherds and many different cats lol. Also have experience with houses that have both dogs and cats. Currently working a hybrid schedule so am able to work my schedule around by helping and visiting families who need that help with their pets. Have always been inquisitive and go the extra step by asking any specific needs and researching before hand the breed so I can be best prepared for the pet and give them the best care and attention possible.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Garland
I cannot recommend Rebecca enough! She stayed in our home for two weeks while we were out of the country to care for our elderly dog and cat, and she exceeded every expectation we had. Leaving senior pets can be stressful, but she made the entire experience completely worry-free, we have never been on vacation without worrying about our babies until now. Rebecca provided thoughtful daily updates with photos, giving us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious from every message that she genuinely cared for our pets and treated them with so much love, patience, and compassion. She also administered our dog’s daily medications with great care and consistency, which was incredibly important to us. She went above and beyond—not only making sure they were comfortable, well cared for, but also taking wonderful care of our home. I truly don’t even have the words to express our gratitude for Rebecca and everything she did for us while we were away. We are so glad we found her.

Madelyn was fantastic!! I couldn’t recommend her enough. She sent a dozen photos each day, texted detailed updates, and went above and beyond giving our kitten love and attention. I was very happy to hear how much Madelyn played, cuddled and bonded quick with our little one. She is trustworthy, communicative and truly cares about the pets she watches. And she kept our home in perfect condition. We will happily be using her as our cat + house sitter moving forward!
We asked Matthew to watch one of our dogs for a week while we were out of town and he was fantastic! We have used him for walks and drop-in visits before and our dog Stetson loves him! His communication is excellent and he makes the whole process so easy. Beyond thankful we found a trustworthy person to watch the fur baby!!

Jillian did a great job dog/house sitting and walking our boy Wiley. If you are searching for someone dependable that shows up on time, communicates well, takes good care of your pet and, leaves the house clean Jillian is a great choice. Already have her booked for other trips.

Natalia took such good care of my babies, especially Xander who needed oral medicine every day! She sent me plenty of updates during my trip, allowing me to enjoy my time without worrying about them. And the cats looked healthy and happy when I got home! Will definitely rebook with her again.

Marisa did an amazing job taking care of my two dogs. She communicated daily with pictures and updates. She wrote down all of their needs during the meet visit which makes everything very easy. I definitely would have her watch my dogs again in the future. She gave me peace of mind while I was away for a few days.

I couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter than Angela! She took care of my cat, Mickey, over Thanksgiving week, and I was blown away by how thoughtful and attentive she was. Angela sent me daily photos, videos, and detailed updates about how Mickey was eating, playing, and napping - everything a worried cat mom wants to know while away! Thanks to her, my “mom heart” was completely at peace the whole time. It was clear that she truly loves animals and treats them like her own. Mickey looked so happy and relaxed in every video - which says a lot, because he’s usually shy with new people. I would absolutely recommend Angela to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and communicative sitter. And without a doubt, the next time we go on vacation, we’ll be reaching out to Angela again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Garland
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Garland on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,674 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Garland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Garland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Garland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Garland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
