Querhea was great house and dogsitting our 3 furbabies while we were our of town for a few days. She arrived on time, provided photos and regular updates during her stay. Our home was neat and clean when we got home just like we had left it. She made sure to clean up the yard from dogs' as requested and she even took the trash out from her stay. We greatly appreciate her and the great care she provided our furbabies. We will use her again for future dogsitter needs. Thank you Querhea.

We are so grateful to have found Laurie! She took such wonderful care of our dogs while we were away—attentive, thoughtful, and incredibly kind. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such capable hands. Laurie provided great updates, was always communicative, and went above and beyond to make sure our pups were happy and comfortable. We came home to relaxed, content dogs and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter they can truly trust. Thank you, Laurie!

Rex did an amazing job watching our home and pups. Our pups don't get along so it's tough for us to find someone willing to take on that responsibility. She made sure our dogs were safe and had plenty of attention. Our house was also taken care and clean. We highly recommend Rex and will be contacting her for future trips.

Maggie was amazing! It was the first time we had someone stay in our home with our dogs and it went so well! Maggie sent us pictures every day with updates which we really appreciated. One of our dogs tends to be anxious around new people, but she was so comfortable with Maggie from the start. We will definitely be rebooking with her for our future trips!

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 10, from puppies to seniors. I also have a dog of my own and sympathize with wanting to make sure your pet is in good hands. I have helped friends, neighbors, and family with walking, feeding, playtime, and baths while they’ve been away. I’m comfortable handling pets of all sizes. My priority is making sure each pet feels loved, safe, and cared for while they’re with me! As a full-time graduate student and employee my weekdays stay pretty busy, but I love making time for pets on weekends or when I can. Caring for animals is a great way for me to spend my free time! I keep my availability open on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays for walks and drop-in visits. Which works perfectly if you’re doing a weekend getaway or just need additional help with your pet care! I currently don’t offer boarding or daycare. However, I can do house pet sitting! :) When walking dogs, I’ll always makes sure leashes and harnesses are secure. I avoid unsafe areas and keep a close eye on surrounding especially for easily triggered dogs. During drop-in visits, I’ll follow your routine for feeding, potty breaks, and playtime. My goal is to keep your pet safe, comfortable, and cared for in their own home environment.

About: I have an uncanny way with animals. It's as if I can read their body language and provide whatever they need. Loving on babies is clinically proven to release stress and I truly believe it works. I'm currently working on starting a floral business and I need the flexibility to work when I can. This is very flexible and it fits what I need. I have a rescue dog with high anxiety and over 4 years she is now acting how dogs act. I have a rescue dog I found tied to a tree, she's deaf and just about blind. It only took me a month and she completely came out of her shell. She now follows me everywhere I go and wags her tail, constantly. I found a baby kitten that was about 5wks old screaming under my car. It took me 4 days for him to allow me to pick him up and bring him inside. It only took 3 days of me showering him with love and now he thinks he runs the house, even though he's the smallest out of everyone.

We had a wonderful experience with Katherine caring for Charlie! From the beginning, communication was excellent, and it was clear that Charlie was in caring and capable hands. We appreciated the updates, photos, and attention given to his needs while we were away. Charlie was happy, relaxed, and well cared for, which gave us great peace of mind. It’s not always easy leaving your pet with someone else, but this experience exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend Katherine to other pet parents looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely caring.

About: I’ve been around pets all my life! I’ve never lived in a house that did not have a dog or cat present, and it just doesn’t feel like home without one! I’m currently an owner of a 7 year old cat myself, but I’ve always been around dogs of all ages and sizes! I frequently pet sit and stay overnight for family members, as well. I currently work full-time Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-4:30 pm, but I do have an hour lunch break from 11:30 am-12:30 pm, which I can use to check on your pet, take them on a short walk, play, or feed them (if needed!) I do not work on the weekends, so I am 100% available to stay overnight Friday-Saturday and make sure everything is good to go before I leave on Sunday! Before I leave and while I’m there, I always make sure there is nothing left out that an animal can get into, and I always ensure there is water and food that is easily accessible to them. A good play session is something I like to do to make sure they were given enough attention before I leave, or, for dogs, I take them on a short walk to get some of that energy out!

Maya is exceptional. From our first interaction she wanted to make sure that our dog (also named Maia) was comfortable with her, and worked her magic to earn Maia’s trust. Maya is great at communicating, and kept us up-to-date everyday, with fotos and a summary of what happened. Which helped to set my mind at easy, knowing that Maia was doing good in our absence. Maya also handled an unexpected situation at the house, which I highly appreciated. I am so happy that I have someone trustworthy to count on for future trips. I will definitely rebook her service again.

She sent photos and updates frequently which I really appreciated. The dogs loved her and I think it was the most relaxed we have been leaving them with someone else while we went out of town. Ambar has been an amazing sitter for our Lola. She was very responsive, provided daily updates with pictures, and was fully transparent with how sitting would work with her job. She gave us plenty peace of mind, much more than with other sitters we've booked simply by her communication and commitment to the services. We also noticed our Lola was happy and not stressed from our departure, giving us a clear indication she was in great and loving hands. Although she didn't have to, Ambar also went above and beyond by leaving the house in a tidy, clean, and welcoming home as it was when first arrived. Ambar is fantastic, we will 1000% be reaching out for her services if available. Overall rating is 10 out of 5 if we could. Thank you for watching our pup!!

We had such a wonderful experience with Kyra caring for our dog Dewey and cat Lily while staying at our home. She was incredibly communicative from start to finish, sending my partner and me detailed updates twice a day along with tons of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. What really stood out was how thoughtful and attentive she was — she asked great questions, paid close attention to routines and details, and it was obvious she genuinely cared about both of our pets equally. It can sometimes feel like one pet naturally gets more attention than the other, but she made both Dewey and Lily feel so loved and cared for. We came home to happy pets and a well cared-for home, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and detail-oriented.

Reagan was so good with our boy, Ricky Bobby!! Ricky Bobby has a few quirks like most dogs do, but one of his more notable ones is that he tends to anxiety chew on himself when we’re out of the house, and sometimes breaks skin if not stopped. Reagan did a fantastic job watching out for this behavior and kept him calm and content through her time in our home. Reagan was also very communicative throughout the visit and sent multiple pictures and updates of the goings on. Overall, we could tell that Ricky Bobby was very comfortable and happy to be hanging out with his newest bestie Reagan, and we’re glad to have found another trustworthy sitter that loves our dog as much as we do!

FAQs for House Sitting - Arlington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Arlington on Rover is $37.45 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,752 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Arlington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Arlington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Arlington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Arlington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Arlington. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
