“Aleksander is a life saver. He made himself available with very short notice to drop in on my cat while I was out of town. He is friendly and conscientious.”

About: Hi! I'm Janis—a current college student on a gap semester, excited to meet your pet(s)! I’ve been caring for all kinds of animals since I was young—dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish—you name it! Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of dogs— from energetic puppies to senior dogs, as well as large breeds like Pit Bulls, Samoyeds, and Labradors. I am open to making exceptions for some large breeds depending on their behavior and after a meet-and-greet. I’ve also volunteered at an animal shelter, where I gained experience walking and handling anxious dogs. My experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant has given me strong familiarity with handling medications, special diets, and injury care. I’m highly attentive, detail-oriented, and comfortable following specific care instructions to ensure your pet’s safety and well-being. I’m very responsive and make sure pet parents always feel connected by sending frequent photo and video updates. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and bond with them through the activities they enjoy most. I’m currently on a gap semester, which gives me a very flexible schedule for pet care. I’m able to spend most of the day with them, with exceptions for errands, but they will never be left alone, as I live with family. I provide at least 2–3 walks or potty breaks per day, and I’m happy to adjust based on your pet’s needs and routine. I also accept last-minute bookings whenever possible! I prioritize safety, comfort, and clear communication at all times. I’m primarily based in Brooklyn, where I live in a house with a fenced front yard and provide most of my pet care services. I also occasionally stay at a second home in Pasadena, Maryland with a large fenced backyard and offer care locally there when I’m in the area. I do not transport pets between locations– services are always provided in one consistent environment to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety. During walks, I take a cautious approach by starting in quieter areas with minimal traffic to help pets feel secure, especially in new environments. I always pay close attention to their behavior and surroundings. I live with my family, so pets will never be left alone if I had to run out, and I always communicate this clearly with owners ahead of time. I currently don’t have other pets in my Brooklyn home aside from fish, which allows me to give your pet my full attention. I can also follow instructions like crating or separating pets if needed.
“I can’t recommend Jackey enough. She is truly wonderful, kind, and so thoughtful. She sent regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. She was always responsive and communicative. Most importantly, she was incredibly sweet and patient with my cat, who isn’t the easiest and is currently going through a lot of changes in his life. It was clear she really cared about his comfort and emotional well-being, not just the basics. I came home to a calm, well-cared-for cat, and that means everything to me. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable animal person.”

“Yana was fantastic with our two cats! She was very caring and attentive and sent us updates about anything we might want to know about - and also cute cat photos. She even took notice that our automatic feeder wasn't working and reset it for us. I would definitely recommend her.”

About: *I only take one pet at a time for boarding and day care (two if they are in the same family). For additional pets, please inquire. My rates are firm and reflect the level of care I will provide* I know the feeling of never wanting to leave your fur baby behind. Wherever I went, if I couldn’t take my pets with me, then I would rather not go at all. But sometimes when work calls or when you simply need a little “me” time, we need help from someone we can trust to love and care for our pets while we’re away. I would love to be that person for you! My pet care experience comes from working at and caring for shelter animals, caring for stray cats, fostering cats and dogs, and loving my own beloved pets (My two dogs that have since passed - Terri, 18, Maple, 12, and cat - August, 4). I’m fear-free certified and have extensive experience caring for senior dogs and pets with special needs (especially cushings, CHF, CCD). I can help with giving oral medications and am open to assisting with other needs if you’re willing to teach. If your pet knows any commands or is in training, I’m happy to help reinforce their skills too (just let me know!). In addition to my experience above, I was also featured on NY1’s New Yorker of the week segment for my volunteer work at Animal Haven, an animal shelter based in Manhattan. My home is super senior-dog friendly with rugs all around the house so your pups don’t slip, pet oxygen for emergencies, plus strollers for pets with special needs. I work remote and have a lot of flexibility in my schedule. I offer pet day care, house sitting, and boarding. Please see my calendar for availability. HOUSE SITTING - overnight stays in your home DROP INS - 30 minutes and I’ll do whatever is needed in that time. This could be a combination of feeding, meds, walking, indoor playtime, etc. WALKS - 30 minutes, strictly outdoors walking, ideal for high-energy, active dogs. BOARDING - Your dog stays overnight at my place. I do a minimum of 2-4 walks a day, depending on your dogs needs. Owners must provide food for their pets, but I can also accommodate for an added fee of $5 per day (includes treats/meals). Please ask about food options and provide allergy info + food preferences if interested in that service. DAY CARE - Drop off for day care is between 7-9am and pick up is between 4-6pm. I will love and care for your pet the way you do for them. I treat every animal I care for like family, providing patience, space, and extra attention as needed. I’m super safety conscious and keen on details, so if there are any particular habits, routines, or schedules you’d like me to follow, if your pet is trained or undergoing training and there’s anything you want me to reinforce, or if your pet has special needs and requires special care, please reach out to me with those details. I am always willing and more than happy to work with you to make sure they are cared for and to give you peace of mind. Rest assured, you’ll be getting plenty of updates and photos from me!
“Tracy did a great job taking care of my 2 cats! She was very communicative and they seemed very happy and well taken care of when I returned home. Thank you so much!”

“Shariyf was great with my two cats! He came by for a meet & greet and both the kitties immediately felt comfortable with him. It was clear that they were well taken care of during my week out of town and I appreciated the photos/updates as well. Thanks Shariyf!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets since 15. I gained all of my experience that I have today through taking care of neighbors, friends, colleagues, and family’s pets. I am a loving, kind, caring, and patient person. I learned so much from caring for animals, that I adore them so much! Also additional, I have experience with puppies, kittens, and senior pets. I’m currently a college student, my classes are held online. Which gives me plenty of time to spend with the doggies. My weekends are busy but I can do mornings only. Because the weekends are the only days I have to finish my college work. I care for my clients pets like if they were my own. I make sure to make my clients pets feel as comfortable and safe as possible, like if they were in their own home. I love taking my time to get to know my clients pets because each pet has their own personality! I also make sure to follow any rules or meal plans that my clients leave for their pets.
About: NOTE: I charge $60 as my flat fee for 6 hours of homestays. After that I charge an extra $5 for each hour per dog. (this is negotiable for repeat clients). I am usually unavailable Tues/Thurs evenings after 6pm. I also only do overnight stays for repeat clients. Hi! I've been around both dogs and cats my whole life and have been a primary caretaker of everything from puppies and kittens to senior pets to pets with special needs. My own two cats can attest that I'm ready and willing to do everything I can to give them a good life. I'm energetic and dependable, I'm also strong so your big dog won't get a leg up on me! You can rely on me to bathe, walk, feed, give medication, or even just some extra love to your pet! I'm also good with boundaries, (important for cats especially) and have worked with breeds from toy Morkie's to giant Shepards! I’m a freelancer, so my schedule changes often, but I am usually free except for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Those are usually reserved. I only do walks within a 20 minute train ride, but will do sittings all over the city! (Note: I charge a 10% cancellation fee if cancelled within 24 hrs of service) I am respectful of all wishes when it comes to drop-in visits and your home, and keep to common areas, I'm also willing and in fact, encourage picture updates of your pet's care (and to reassure you if you have anxiety over leaving your pet with a stranger like I sometimes do). As for walks, there are no headphones or any other distractions to me when I walk your pet. I stay along well lit streets, and aware of your dogs needs at all times.
“Lucy is so sweet, and responsible! Highly recommend. This was our first time retaining a pet sitter and I was very nervous. She made me feel at ease and our kitty was happy <3”

About: I bring nine years of dedicated pet-care experience, primarily with my Siberian Husky, a breed known for its intelligence, energy, and unique behavioral needs. My background also includes occasional care for cats, giving me a well-rounded understanding of feline routines and temperaments. Whether it’s exercise, enrichment, or calm companionship, I’m committed to providing reliable, attentive, and compassionate care for every pet. I have flexible hours during the warmer months and love getting outside with my energetic Siberian Husky for regular walks and grooming. I can accept one-time bookings easily, though reoccurring schedules for walking should be discussed in advance since my availability may be limited. During November through April, walking services are more weather-dependent and may not always be open. Your dog is welcomed into a calm, dog-friendly home where they will have attention, companionship, and structure. Crate-comfort for short periods is important, especially for pups who may get anxious when left alone for quick errands. Day sitting is available for a minimum of 7 hours within a 14-16 hour day (pet needs to do well 8 hours overnight), with a maximum 3-hour break for other tasks; usually in the morning (this also applies to boarding). Overnight stays are generally limited to once every 3 booked days. I remain mindful of each pet’s boundaries and training. Please provide a clear list of your expectations for each home visit. • Furniture rules will match what they’re used to at home • Resource guarding or aggression cannot be accommodated for everyone’s safety My philosophy is simple: a dog should feel respected, understood, and appreciated every step of the way. ❤️

No matter what kind of pet it is I will give plenty of attention and love.
“Lena went above and beyond for us to trouble shoot why the fire alarm has started beeping and climbed up to the ceiling to fix it so it wouldn't stress out the cats. She kept us updated and sent the cutest pictures that made me feel confident that the kitties were safe and happy. I would absolutely love to work with Lena again! 💕”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Coney Island
Kseniia was amazing! Communication was excellent throughout the trip, with regular updates and photos that provided real peace of mind. My senior cat has separation anxiety and occasionally goes outside the litter box, but Kseniia handled everything perfectly, keeping the litter boxes spotless and thoughtfully placing and replacing potty pads in his usual spots. It was clear that a great deal of care and attention went into every visit. Highly recommend, and I will definitely be booking with Kseniia again for future trips!

When I met Barbara, I could tell that she really likes animals. Both of my cats sensed it too because they walked right up to her to say hello. I knew right away they'd be in good hands. Barbara showed up every day when she said she would. She followed the instructions I left to a tee. Barbara is great!

This is not my first time to ask her to take care of my cat. She is experienced with cats and pays attention to details such as letting me know how much my cat eats and what’s in cat litter 🧐 Most importantly, she spends quality time with my cat! Plays and pets with her, and brush her fur 😻

It is always a pleasure to work with Meg, from start to finish. She is always very conscientious: if anything is unclear or if I forgot to leave instructions for something, she always asks and tries to find thr best solution. I trust her 100% with my kitty. Thank you!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
