About: I’m a born-again pet person and love spending time with cats and dogs. Over the past five years, I’ve had the joy of fostering cats, providing them with a loving and caring environment while they await their forever homes. I look forward to meeting your furry companions and providing them with the care, attention, and love they deserve while you’re away! I am currently on a career break and have a lot of flexible time to dedicate to house sitting, drop-in visits, and walking your pet. When caring for pets in my client's home, I follow all instructions to a tee and pay careful attention to the changing needs of the animal. I am communicative and responsive should any issues arise.
About: **My FT job is a revolving schedule meaning I do not always work the same exact shift daily and may not have the same exact days off weekly.** NYC AREA ONLY! I must be able to reach your address via transit. Due to transit times, I may not be able to take a last-minute request. **Dogs I have 17 years of experience, cats I grew up with and rabbits I have 7 years with** I had the pleasure of owning a big beautiful rottweiler greater swiss mountain dog boy for many years until I lost him to cancer. I also grew up with cats! Check out my kitty profile to see my best friend, an orange tabby boy. He made it all the way to high school putting up with me before it was his time to go. Losing him was as hard as losing my college best friend, my rottie mix. . Outside of that, I professionally raised, trained, and showed rabbits for a decade and had a professional show horse while I was in college. With the passing of my big rottie boy, I couldnt bring myself to have a new dog and my schedule is too busy to own another these days so instead I offer my services to help other busy pet owners. I have worked with pit bulls, huskies, stubborn shepherds, all kinds of dogs from volunteering at shelters to taking care of friends dogs while they were out of town to just helping neighbors get in potty breaks and walks for elderly pet owners who cant always go for long walks. . I am in my later 30s and have experience in the hospitality industry, corporate security industry, airline industry, and medical field (ex FF/Medic). Your pet is like one of your kids- their safety and security matters as much as someone who understands animal body language. Your dog and I can work on basic things like leash manners while on our walk (its all included if they need it). . **Schedule notes cont: I am only given a short amount of schedules in advance so I have no way to book beyond my current assigned FT job schedule. Regretfully, I am not able to pre-book pet clients then tell the FT job I cant work those days. They will not honor that request as the contract with them strictly says they are the first priority- meaning I HAVE to wait until they release any upcoming weekly schedules. This is beyond my control and I applogize for the inconvience it causes. I do state that I only do pet services in my FREE TIME which means whenever Im not commuting to work or have to be at work. Please take this into consideration when booking! I am ONLY available to take dogs out for walks in my FREE TIME. Must book at least 24 hours in advance. I will update my availability based on my primary job schedule, any time I am out of town, or unavailable due to personal life appointments. NOTE: My day job is a revolving schedule. I am not always available the same time daily or weekly. You MUST discuss this with me as I only recieve so many company schedules in advance. IM AWARE THIS IS NOT CONVIENIENT, but my hands are tied. This is how the company operates. I do NOT offer in my home sitting (my landlord does not allow pets in this facility/only service animals). I am a will check on your pet house call and on the go dog walker only. If your dog does not have a harness, I will NOT be walking your dof for their OWN safety. Dogs can easily slip out of leashes. It also helps them with leash manners and allows me better control of them if I needed to move them quickly from a situation. I prefer to walk dogs away from busy roads/busy intersections and will take advantage of any nature trails nearby. Dog parks can be stressful on dogs, so unless your dog has playmates that it regularly sees at a specific dog park, I will not take your dog to an unfamiliar area and let them run free with other dogs where they could become involved in a fight. Generally, I walk them around their local neighborhood or on a nature trail. NO car rides (I dont even have a car). Your dog always stays close to home and in a familiar environment. Treats will be used for positive reinforcement but due to dogs having food allergies, I DO NOT provide treats. All owners must provide their OWN pet-specific "safe treats" and note ANY restrictions such as "Only one or two whole treats" or for bigger dogs, "5 cookies max" (these are just generic examples, its up to you to know your pets diet and leave instructions for what your pet needs). CATS- same deal, although cats typically wont take treats from strangers so don't be offended or surprised if you find kitty crunchies left untouched. Kitty churus/"tubes"- if your cat cannot have the whole tube, please leave a ziplock baggie that I can put the remainder of the tube in. I will only squeeze out the directed amount and then place the tube in the baggie and leave it in your fridge so it doesnt spoil from the coastal heat/humidity and so bugs cant get in it.
“Stephanie and Brian were great!! Due to cancellations I had to book them Super last minute and they were more than happy to come see Roy. They played with him and took the time to make sure he was happy and cared for. Thank you both again!!!!”

“Ariella is amazing! She was a heaven sent angel and our boys love her! We have seen such an improvement in their behavior and demeanor - all from her daily visits and providing them with care!”

About: I have had pets, or as I say friends my whole life. For the past 22 years, I have taken care of my own as an adult. I have had both cats and dogs both at the same time. I treat all of my friends like family. I am a dedicated animal lover. I live in Rockaway beach. I am available on Thursdays and Fridays and most weekends. I am available Monday-Wednesday after 6PM. I am very flexible as well to accommodate special requests. I do not have a fenced in yard, however, I take my dog Tina for long walks around Rockaway, on the beach off season, and to the dog run on Shore.
“I’m so so happy I found Brittany! Cooper took to her so fast which is very rare for him, he usually takes a while to warm up to a new person but not with Brittany he went right to her! Gem also loved her to! She was so good with them and sent pictures and videos when she went to check on them which gave me so much piece of mind while I was away. Brittany is definitely a keeper!!”

About: Former dog owner and shelter volunteer with over 15 years of experience. I’m a go-to sitter for friends and I’m an active runner on the Rockaway boardwalk. I'm very comfortable and capable with all temperaments and energy levels. I have a hybrid work schedule, where I work from home 3 days during the week, and would be able to take breaks for walks. Weekends I am free. I live in a 4th floor walk up that allows pets. Other tenants have dogs. I live less than 1 block away from the boardwalk and beach for walks.
About: I’ve raised my dog since she was 3 months old. She battled an autoimmune disease, and I cared for her through medications, special diets, and recovery. That experience gave me a deep understanding of medical care, patience, and what it means to truly show up for a pet. I treat every dog like my own—with love, attentiveness, and a calm, caring presence. Pet care fits naturally into my routine. I work as a substitute paraprofessional with the Department of Education, which gives me a flexible schedule during the school year and full availability in the summer. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets I care for—whether it’s daily walks, playtime, feedings, or just keeping them company throughout the day. With my open summer schedule, I’m especially available for longer stays or more frequent visits. Whether in my home or a client’s, I provide consistent, loving care tailored to each pet’s routine. I prioritize their comfort, safety, and well-being. In my home, pets enjoy a calm, clean space, regular walks, playtime, and plenty of affection. In a client’s home, I maintain their routine and create a familiar, stress-free environment. I treat every pet like family and ensure they feel safe, loved, and cared for at all times.

About: Hi I’m Kathleen! I am huge animal lover who grew around pets and I have over 4 years of experience providing patient, responsible, and dedicated care. I don't currently have any dogs or cats of my own, which means your pup gets 100% of my undivided attention, love, and care. My home is a calm, safe space where your pet can truly relax and feel right at home. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine because I am home most of the day. I am available all days for boarding and can easily accommodate flexible pick-up and drop-off times for owners. At my clients/my home I will provide photos, and videos of your pet and provide updates to insure you have a safe, and trusted experience!
“Jessie is excellent. She's extremely good at communicating, leaving detailed notes, taking lots of photos, letting me know about issues that came up, following the notes I left, and being flexible about making small changes. It gave me so much peace of mind while I was away for two weeks. Highly recommend!”

“Shanna did an amazing job caring for my cats while I was away on a much-needed vacation. From our initial meeting, my cats took to her right away, which was such a relief! She was very responsive and shared thoughtful, detailed updates in each Rover card. I genuinely looked forward to reading them after every visit. It was clear she cared for Skylar & Jackson as if they were her own. I was able to feel at ease during my trip because I knew they were in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Mary is very kind, thoughtful and always thinking of her clients. She provides expert advice on pet care and accessories. She brought my shy cats some cute Halloween-y toys and they really loved them. They’ve been running around with them! She also brought them the cutest lifted feeders bc my girl cat regurgitates sometimes. Mary is always very quick to respond and communicative. She is very patient when I get anxiety when I’m gone. We love Mary so much!!!”
About: What sets me apart is my mix of professional experience and love for animals. I worked at a grooming facility for 2 years, where I learned how to safely handle dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities, keep them comfortable, and pay attention to little details that matter for their care. This past summer, I also had the chance to travel to Australia, where I got to experience wildlife and animal care from a whole new perspective. That experience strengthened my passion for working with animals and taught me how important patience and consistency are in giving them the best care. Whether it’s energetic puppies or older dogs that need extra gentleness, I bring both skill and heart to every pet I look after. I am a 4th year part-time Pre-Vet student at Tuskegee University so I am not available on Mondays and Thursday's. But I am available every other day in the afternoon and most mornings! I live in a pet-friendly apartment with two other pre-vet students, so your baby will always be surrounded by animal lovers! There’s plenty of space for walks and play, plus access to a pool if your pup enjoys swimming 🤿. And for cats, I create enrichment activities or give them cozy spots to relax 😎. Whether in my home or yours, I make sure pets stay safe, happy, and on their usual routine with plenty of love and attention.
About: I've always had animals growing up and I loved taking care of them. I have 10 years of experience taking care of my own pets. I made sure they were fed a balanced diet, they had their daily walks, they were upto date with their vaccines. I also made sure that they were well-groomed, given lots of love and attention and spoiled rotten with toys! I currently work full time but I am available anytime after 3pm to pet sit the little cuties and I am free anytime on the weekends. I do not have yard space but I am close to the beach and there are a few parks to take the dogs for a walk!
“Eleni was amazing. I had to leave for an extended time for Christmas and she came by and took care of my cat. My cat needs all the attention in the world and Eleni gave her just that. She updated me everyday and even showed up on the holiday. I'm super protective of my cat and I'd recommend Eleni to anyone.”

I can’t say enough good things about Rachel and the care she provides for our cats. She keeps great track of all the medications we need to give them, and handles changes so well. Our cats always do well when Rachel cares for them, because of her consistency and the extra love and attention she gives them.

Stephanie and Brian are incredible pet sitters! Right before our wedding weekend, my fiancé and I’s plans for our cat sitter fell apart suddenly, and they were able to step in and fill that role for the 5 days we were away. They were responsive, and gave us frequent updates, ensuring that we were able to enjoy our wedding weekend and everything surrounding it with the comfort of knowing our cat was well cared for. They are also just generally awesome people. I recommend them as highly as possible, and my fiancé, scratch that, my wife and I will definitely rebook them next time we need someone.

Brittany did an awesome job with my cat and she made sure my cat ate a good amount since she is fussy eater sometimes. Brittany had a lot of patience with her and spent quality time with her. I could tell Brittany loves cats, she really loved being around my little furry one. Would definitely use Brittany again soon when I’m out of town. Thank you so much.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rockaway Park. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
