“Kitty was absolutely wonderful. It was my first time using rover and was nervous about having my senior dog stay at a complete strangers home. But Kitty made the whole process super easy and comfortable. I could tell Chester loved staying with her and was having a great time. She sent pictures through out the day, every single day and was very easy to get in touch with. I’m so glad to have found her and have her to take care of Chester. I will def be a repeating customer.”

“Laura took great care of my dog, who takes meds and is clingy. I got lots of reports and pics during his 6 day stay, and I could tell he was at ease in her home and became good friends with her dog Rex.”

“Megan was a wonderful friend to Cheddar! She sent photos and updates and always easy to communicate with. Very detail-oriented and ensured my dog was comfortable and safe while I was away. Cheddar was in great hands :)”

“Absolutely incredible. They took great care of our baby boy, sent many updates, and we were able to rest assured Shoresy was in good hands and having fun. When our flight home got delayed, they were extremely accommodating and went way above and beyond to help us out. We will definitely be using them again- Shoresy had an amazing time!”

“Ziwei was great with my dog Lyla! Lyla can be very anxious and shy in new places but she seemed comfortable with Ziwei and even had fun playing with the other dogs. Ziwei sent lots of pics and videos and was very quick to answer any messages which made me feel at ease. Would highly recommend her for your dogs!”

About: I owned a dog as a kid and have been dog sitting on and off for ten years. I’ve cared for a range of dogs from small and medium sized dogs, yorkies to pit bulls, older dogs with disabilities to younger dogs that need medication. I freelance from home, so my schedule can be easily moved around for any dog needs. I’m a natural early riser so early morning walks and feeds are very easy for me. I have a pretty open living room and kitchen space, which is more than enough space for medium sized and small dogs to run and play around. In the past, I’ve had dogs sleep on their beds in the living room or my bedroom and if permitted/ comfortable just in my bed with me.

“Syndi had a great 3 days with Tiffany. Easy meet and greet. I always have trouble with the drop off saying goodbye to my pup but Tiffany makes you feel like you are leaving her in great hands. Syndi looked comfortable and happy in pictures. Would definitely use Tiffany again and I recommend her highly.”

“I had an amazing experience having Denis and his wife to watch my cat Fifi for a few days! They were able to confirm to watch my cat, given the short notice and on a holiday weekend. I was sent plenty pictures and videos throughout her stay and I was shocked to see how quickly Fifi adjusted to her new environment. I was happy hearing how well she was doing, and seeing her be herself. She had earned their trust pretty quickly on. They really took the time to care for my angel 😌 I could see how much passion, care and attention they have for animals and they treated Fifi as if she was theirs. 🥲 I was worry-free most of the time, knowing she was having a blast with her new friends ☺️ I was able to get alot done while they took Fifi off my hands. My cat will definitely miss being there with them. I am so glad I booked and I absolutely trust them with her again. I highly recommend them looking after your pet! 😊”

“Thank you for watching my little buddy during my trip. Updated me with pictures, gave Jesse his medicine, took him for walks and played with him. Couldn't ask for more!”

“Jelfri is amazing! He watched my dog Jack for a week and was perfect. Great communication, and he even went out of his way to get him his exact food when he was running out. Would absolutely recommend”

“Krystal took wonderful care of our dog, Joules, while we were away for two weeks. We were initially nervous about leaving our older dog for that long, but Krystal made the experience completely stress-free. She kept us updated regularly, gave Joules plenty of attention and long walks, and clearly cared about his well-being. We came home to a happy dog and couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend Krystal!”

Sarah was great with my dog! She communicated really well, was able to pick up and drop off my dog and I know that he had a great time because he was so happy and wiped out when I got home from work. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
