“Peggy is wonderful! She’s definitely someone who has passion of what she does and she’s good at it. She updates you and sends videos of their activities. She even took an extra mile to correct our dog’s “pulling” issue without even asking. She truly cares and our Flynn behaved as if he’s with the family because he felt the love and car”

“Kristin was an amazing sitter. I can tell Sushi had so much fun and was cared for because he didn’t look disheveled coming home. Thank you, Kristin!”

“Trusting someone with our Theo for the first time was a big step for us. Our trip had been planned before we welcomed him into our family, and I even considered canceling it due to the anxiety of leaving him with a sitter. I’m so glad we found Juliana and her family. The relief I felt when we received updates with photos was immense—Theo looked happy and well cared for. Juliana provided daily updates and was always quick to respond when we checked in. Thank you @Juliana!”

“We had a unique situation that lead us to Eric and he was incredibly accommodating. I forgot my dog's bed and he was able to provide one. He took great care of our shepherd and sent us several photos to show us our dog was doing just fine. Eric is a super nice guy to boot! Would highly recommend!”

About: For the past six months, I’ve been caring for my own Shih Tzu, and she inspired me to become a pet caregiver. Taking care of her has taught me the importance of patience, love, and responsibility. I have experience with daily walks, feeding, playtime, grooming, administering basic care, and making sure she feels safe, happy, and comfortable. Caring for my dog has shown me how rewarding it is to provide pets with the attention and affection they deserve, and I’m excited to give the same level of care to every dog I look after. I'm currently working part-time. I only work Monday, Thursday, 7 hours and Friday 3 hours, which means that I have a lot of time to dedicate to your pet ❤️ I also have a 6-month-old dog of the Shihtzu breed so your baby will have company 🥰 I have a house with a patio in front of the house with a defense, also a backyard for the kids to play, the backyard has no defense because it connects with the parking lot of the house, they will have daily walks and above all I’ll take them to the park, parks where dogs are allowed all under precautions
“Steven and Jennifer was amazing with my baby Max. I received so many pictures and videos. The communication was impeccable. I will definitely use them again for sure. Thank you so much.”

“Brigette was fantastic. She’s super responsive, even for a last minute request, and was an absolute lifesaver for us. She was great with our dog and we’re looking forward to working with her in the future!!”

“Wonderful job! Thank you Shushma. She did extra work for our dog like walked him, updated us from time to time by sending us videos and photos of our dog. Also she was so accommodating when we told her we can only pick up the dog at a later time. She has other dogs too so our dog really had fun on his stay at Shushma’s house. Definitely on our next vacation, we will leave our dog to her again 😀”

“They were great! Lincoln met with them a few days before the stay and was immediately comfortable. There house was very clean and the enclosed backyard was very spacious leaving a lot of room for the dogs to play and secure enough to prevent them from getting out. They sent video and pictures everyday. I would definitely leave my dog with them again in the future.”

About: Hi, I’m Ruth. I’m the kind of sitter who treats your dog like family. I focus on calm, steady care, clear communication, and making sure your pup feels safe, understood, and genuinely loved while you’re away. I work with all temperaments, from shy rescues to high energy pups who need structure and play. I pay close attention to body language, routines, and comfort cues so your dog settles in quickly. I offer walks, potty breaks, overnight care in your home, medication support, and gentle training reinforcement. I send real time updates with photos and notes so you always know how your dog is doing. I keep things simple and dog centered. I follow your routines closely, maintain a calm environment, and make sure your pup gets the right mix of exercise, affection, and downtime. If you want someone reliable, communicative, and genuinely invested in your dog’s wellbeing, I’m here. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I already structure my time around steady check ins, feeding schedules, enrichment, and quiet companionship. I plan my mornings and evenings with space for visits, walks, and updates, and I keep my afternoons flexible for longer stays or extra attention when a pet needs it. Caring for animals is part of the rhythm of my week, and I move through it with calm consistency so every pet feels supported. I care for pets in a way that keeps them comfortable and grounded, whether I am in my home or my client’s home. I follow routines closely, keep feeding and water schedules consistent, maintain clean litter or potty areas, and move with a calm presence so animals stay relaxed. I spend time observing their comfort cues and adjust my pace to match their needs, offering play, affection, or quiet companionship. When pets stay with me, I create a safe and cozy space that supports their habits and give them steady attention throughout the day. I send updates with photos and notes so owners always feel connected to their pet’s experience.
“Karina was amazing from beginning to end. I felt a little skeptical about leaving my fur child with anyone unfamiliar. From texts before the drop off, Karina made me feel comfortable. I received texts, pics and videos of my dog continuously throughout the day to see my dog, adjusting to a new person and environment. I could see my bully taking to Karina very easily which gave me peace of mind while away. Karina was very attentive to my fur baby and making sure that she was her priority while under her care. When I picked up my dog the first thing I asked after expressing my appreciation was, if I ever have to leave my dog with anyone again, can I look you up on Rover and she said yes! I highly recommend anyone leaving your fur child with Karina who is attentive and sensitive to your pet adjusting to new people and surroundings. Amazing pet sitter. 5 stars ⭐️”

“I highly recommend Karla for anyone’s pet care needs. She was friendly, responsive and a delight to work with. She provided daily updates on my dog’s day with pictures. I look forward to working with her again!”

“Rhonda did a phenomenal job caring for my 1 year old, highly energetic Pomeranian. She sent feedback (pictures) each day to let us know how he was doing AND she took him on a little adventure to Coney Island. From the moment I met her in person, I felt confident that I made the right choice in choosing her. You will not regret leaving your furry friend with Rhonda.”

“We had great communication with Shirley throughout the entire process. We did a meet and greet before the stay, and she asked thoughtful questions beforehand to really get to know our dog. During the stay, she shared lots of photos and videos, which we truly appreciated. She was also very flexible and accommodating when we had to change our plans due to the snowstorm. Highly recommend!”

“Tyler did a wonderful job watching our dog over Memorial Day weekend. He was highly responsive, sent many photos, and created a very safe environment. We can’t recommend Tyler enough!”

“I booked Michael last minute for an overnight stay & it was my five-month-old puppy’s first time away from home. Michael was incredibly communicative, answering all my questions and ensuring I felt at ease. I couldn’t be happier with the care he provided for my puppy, Pepper. The regular updates and pictures reassured me that Pepper was comfortable and well cared for. I highly recommend Michael to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter—I will definitely use him again in the future!”

“Diana was incredible! My pup clearly felt so comfortable in her home, and I appreciated her consistent check-ins to let me know how my dog was doing. I can't wait to book her again!”

“Clean house, secure backyard, and updated photos of my wonderful pet!! What else could I ask for? Michelle was a wonderful host who made my pet (and me) feel safe and calm. From the photos, my Mila felt right at home. To end Mila's visit, she was given a "to go" gift bag from this super host. I will definitely be using her again!”

Ingrid and her family are great host. They hosted Max for almost 2 weeks. They have Max lots of attention and love. She sent multiple pictures and videos every day while we were away. She communicates very well and quickly. Will continue to use Ingrid for upcoming trips and maybe check ins from time to time.

I couldn't be happier with the care my dog received! She was kind, reliable, and treated him like one of her own. She kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear he was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I truly appreciate the love and attention she gave him, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my boy!

I just love the way she cared for my pet Dusty, it was his first time with her and she managed it. In the Beginning he was a little difficult at the end he improved greatly I could see the changes in him at home. I would highly recommend her to anyone. I would consider her again.

Dayan is amazing she took care of my dog like it was hers pet every day I texts and updates of how my babe (dog) was doing and my dog is a rescue dog and he’s now a senior dog she took great care with him to the point where I felt comfortable while on vacation. Dayan is a great person thank you for looking after my dog max.

Dayanara was so helpful and was able to watch our dog, Ginger, for a last minute booking. She sent updates, included photos, throughout each day. It was good to know that Ginger was being cared for while we were away. This was our second booking with her and we hope to use her services again in the future.

Susan was great - communicative, attentive, and incredibly responsible. While I was away, my dog unexpectedly got sick, and Susan handled everything with great care. It was definitely scary, but Susan never left Rio’s side and kept me updated the whole time. In the end, Rio luckily ended up being totally fine, and I was really grateful to have Susan there taking such good care of her.

First time using Rover and couldn’t have had an easier experience. Jamie was awesome and kept me updated and at ease the whole time. When I came to pick Parker up he didn’t want to leave and he’s nice and tired from all the exercise. Will definitely be using Jamie again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
