“My pug Charlie had another wonderful time with Abbie and Peachy. Charlie feels really safe with Abbie even though she is a little anxious and Peachy is a great friend that helps Charlie to stay active and socialized especially in this cold weather. Outstanding hosts!”

About: I live with my fiancé and goldendoodle and we are 1 block from a dog park and 3 blocks in either direction from Riverside Park and Central Park. We have a 1 bedroom and plenty of room for additional dog beds. I work from home and do not travel for work, so my schedule is extremely flexible. We have one dog, so we’re already on the dog schedule and I have enough flexibility to go out additional times if needed. We live in a one bedroom apartment. I am 1 block from a turf dog park and 3 blocks from Riverside Park and Central Park in either direction. Plenty of nearby outdoor spaces for puppies of all preferences!
“My Claire stayed with Samantha. She gave Claire space to settle down and get comfortable in a environment that was not home. I felt at ease leaving Claire with Samantha. I received pictures even it though it was slightly over a 24 stay. I would totally recommend Samantha!”

“This was a seamless service. Felt like my fur baby was with family. She communicated daily, sent pics and videos, without ask. My baby was so happy and well cared for. I am a forever client. This service was exceptional.”

“Alba was the best sitter for our dog!! She took such great care of our pup and sent us photos and videos every day. Highly recommend booking her if you need a sitter!”

“This was my first experience with Sam. When we did our meet and greet I knew my Yorkie Macy would be in good hands. After the first day of process Sam sent me photos and shared how much her children enjoyed having Macy around. Sam gave updates on how things were going which gave me a sense of relief. Sam and her family will definitely see Macy again.”

“Amazing amazing amazing!!!!! I booked with Ingrid on short notice (literally a few hours) and she took such great care of my 2 girls. Very communicative, great space for the dogs, gave them lots of cuddles. Overall excellent experience and will rebook in the future.”

“We had such a great experience with Sam! She took wonderful care of my dog for 9 days and made the whole process completely stress-free. This was the longest time we’ve been away. She kept me updated every day with messages, photos or videos, which really gave me peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that my dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. I truly appreciated her kindness, reliability, and attention to detail. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their pet!”

About: 💠 Hello! I offer pet care for when you’re not able to be there. I am available for drop-in visits, pet sitting, pet daycare, and also pet walking (even for cats!). 🚙 I currently provide pet care services for most of the Nassau County area and some parts of Nassau-Queens border. I am also able to travel to Manhattan with added transportation coverage. I am local: Repeat services booked with me receive special accommodations & rates. 🌃 Messages that are sent after hours on Rover may be responded to on the following day. 🔹 I’m experienced with small breeds, or toy breeds, specifically Pomeranians, been around them all my life, including newborns and senior dogs who were raised starting as puppies. 🔹 Experienced with docile cat breeds, in particular Persian, Himalayan, Ragdoll, Maine Coon and other related cat breeds. 🔹 Have experience with Goldfish, Bettas and birds such as Budgies, so knowledgeable about care. 🐾 I’m intuitive and pay attention to picking up the different ways a dog or cat expresses nonverbal communication, they constantly give us cues. About Me: I own a color-point Persian cat who is 7 years old that I enjoy spoiling. I can speak Italian, enjoy gardening, art, sewing, yoga, tennis & pilates. I’m a fan of the original Twilight movie directed by Catherine Hardwicke. 🐾 I’m currently providing pet care for a King Charles Cavalier who has mobility issues and dietary restrictions, but he is such a big mush! I am also caring for a special needs 4 month old kitten who needs to be syringe-fed, given both topical & oral medication on schedule, along with helping her with using a litter box. In addition to assisting with care of a (palm-sized) rescue kitten who is less than one month old needing to be bottle fed every few hours, given antibiotic medication for her eyes and frequent cleaning with wet wipes, due to being too young to know how to use a litter box. I have found it to be extremely rewarding and willing to look after a few more furbabies within my local area. 🔹 I’m trustworthy and reliable, I would always practice good manners. Respectful of privacy when I’m in a client’s home. I make sure that when I’m with your pet, safety is an upmost priority.
“Michelle is amazing! We are new to the area and had a negative experience with a different sitter previously. I was so nervous to try someone new. We found Michelle and I am SO grateful!! I honestly think our dog didn’t want to leave her house. She sent tons of photos and updates. Our Great Dane is sensitive to new situations and will refuse to eat. Michelle waited with her during each meal so she would eat. She truly went above and beyond and I can not recommend her enough.”

“I highly recommend Karla for anyone’s pet care needs. She was friendly, responsive and a delight to work with. She provided daily updates on my dog’s day with pictures. I look forward to working with her again!”

“Denise was very sweet to my dog and followed all of the feeding instructions carefully. Cooper made friends with her dogs, and she made sure Cooper was safe and well cared for at all times. 🐾”
“Minyon did a wonderful job with my corgi, he was so happy in all the pictures and videos that were sent. I'd definitely book a stay with Minyon again!”

“Our 5 month old puppy was in great hands with Vanessa and her family. They were reliable, trustworthy, sent us lots of updates including pics and videos. Most importantly he had a great time. 10/10 would recommend.”

“Veronica took exceptional care of my two dogs Molly and Oliver. She was very attentive to all their needs and provided a safe, fun environment for their entire stay. I will definitely be using Veronica again.”

“Yessenia was absolutely lovely to work with. She answered any questions we had as first time Rover customers in order to put us at ease. We could see from the first interaction that she would be kind to our dog, as she immediately got down and gave her hand to the dog to sniff and then pet her. She has a daughter with a sweet and gentle personality, who kindly shared her own blanket with the dog to make the dog feel more comfortable. Yessenia‘s husband was friendly and pleasant as well. Yessenia sent us multiple pictures and updates over the weekend while she watched the dog. Though we brought some supplies, she was also prepared with her own if necessary. Furthermore, since Yesenia had already experienced life with a senior dog, she offered us some suggestions that might help with our pup. Our Rusty had never been cared for by a stranger up to this point. It was hard for us to leave her. That said, we would not only highly recommend Yessenia and her family to other dog owners, we will definitely reach out to Yessenia again if we need someone to board the dog. She even included a lovely note about the experience. Her thoughts were genuine, and it was nice for us to be reminded about the beauty of our dog whom we see every day.”

“Michael was an absolute gem with watching our pup Glacier over the holiday. We immediately felt at ease with his calming and kind demeanor. We were thankful for the consistent communication, daily updates and photos. This was our first time leaving him overnight and traveling from Vermont. We cannot thank Michael enough!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Long Beach
Kristen was wonderful! I had a two week vacation and my usual cat sitter had to cancel last minute. I was panicked because I needed someone I could trust since I have an elderly cat and another cat on medication that he needs daily. Kristen was able to accommodate a short notice booking and texted me everyday with updates and pictures. Because of her, I felt at ease when I was away because I knew they were being loved and in good hands. I highly recommend Kristen for boarding.

I used Janine for the first time, and she exceeded every expectation. She was professional, communicative, and genuinely caring, providing regular updates that gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog, and I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional dog sitter.

Cannot say enough great things about Sam and her family. You can truly tell they love animals and took care of my dog like he was their own. She kept me updated and send me pictures for the week I was away. My dog truly did not want to leave when I went to pick him up. I know he cannot wait to go back!

Alex took great care of our puppy, Fintan! He was able to accommodate us at the last minute, took the time to find out where we were in our training with Fintan and what kind of issues we wanted to work on, sent us pictures and videos, and took the time to socialize our puppy. Would be happy to book with him again!
Susan was great - communicative, attentive, and incredibly responsible. While I was away, my dog unexpectedly got sick, and Susan handled everything with great care. It was definitely scary, but Susan never left Rio’s side and kept me updated the whole time. In the end, Rio luckily ended up being totally fine, and I was really grateful to have Susan there taking such good care of her.

Shushma and her family are amazing! She saved me during the last snow storm when the person meant to watch Haddie couldn’t get home due to flight cancellations and it was absolutely meant to be. She provided lots of updates and it was clear the family and their dogs had completely embraced Haddie as one of their own.

Trevor and his wife Sabrina did such an amazing job with our 4 month old puppy. She was very nervous being apart from us for the first time. Trevor and Sabrina were communicative throughout and helped her through her nerves. We would absolutely use them again and felt really lucky to have our puppy in such good hands.

First time using Rover and couldn’t have had an easier experience. Jamie was awesome and kept me updated and at ease the whole time. When I came to pick Parker up he didn’t want to leave and he’s nice and tired from all the exercise. Will definitely be using Jamie again!

This was the first time we left our 12 year old pooch with someone other than family. Nancy was great. She gave us updates and pictures while we were away which kept my daughter so happy. Our dog looked like she wanted to stay longer when we picked her up. Would book again without hesitation. Thank you for giving us peace of mind during our vacation!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
