“Megan was wonderful with my dog! She was very communicative, timely, and took great care of my guy who is recovering from a back injury. Highly recommend her!”

“I have a high needs dog. Lots of medications and some reactivity on leash. He was very attentive to all of her needs and did a great job of keeping her calm. He also sends very thorough updates with lots of photos!”

“Janelle was amazing! Because of Janelle, I was able to go on vacation for the first time in 18 months. My cat has stage C CHF and requires extensive medical attention - she did a great job handling it. She was thoughtful, responsible, and reliable. She kept a calm composure throughout which is critical for his condition. They quickly became best friends so I never had to worry he was sad or lonely. Definitely put my mind at ease while I was away. Highly recommend.”

“Amanda took great care of my dog while I was out of town. She was always prompt in responding to messages and sent pictures of my dog and updates to let me know how she was doing.”

About: Currently have 2 family dogs so I am comfortable with animals and will provide meticulous care for your loved one and home until you return Plenty of availability during weekdays and will do overnight if need be! We can figure out a good time for you based on what fits my schedule! I often play and baby my dogs and want to show tons of love to them! I do the same for other pets I interact with as well!
“Requested Avary the day before and was immediately reached out to, to confirm the booking and get familiar with our puppy. Avary proceeded to communicate ETA, sending pics on arrival and kept me up to date on the good potty moments and the bad. Will definitely be rebooking and recommend Avary without any hesitation to anyone who needs a sitter!”

“Jenn took amazing care of our little Fig. We are so grateful to have had such a trustworthy, responsible and communicative caretaker to give us true peace of mind while we were away. Would definitely love to use her services again and would recommend her to anyone!”

“Desiree is a thoughtful and conscientious sitter. She stayed over and cared for my older cat and emo dog. She sent regular updates which gave me confidence while I was gone. Five stars. Highly recommend.”

About: Hi, I’m Jean and I’m really looking forward to meeting your pup! Although I have never had the opportunity to have my own dog, I have loved dogs my entire life and admire them dearly. I have worked at multiple animal daycares in Brooklyn and Manhattan and have dog sat/walked many of my friends/families dogs. I understand that your dog is your family so I strive to prove your babies comfortability is my top priority. Understandably, leaving your dog in another persons hands can be a risk but I will ensure that I leave your furry friend happy, exhausted and at the very least more comfortable with me! I have basically open availability Monday to Friday. Please message me for any further questions you may have regarding availability for taking your pup on a joy walk, hanging out together at your house or a sleepover at my apartment! Your dogs comfortability is my top priority. Whether it takes a few minutes, a few hours or even days for a dog to be comfortable, I will always do my best to attempt to ease a dog into a new situation. Please let me know if your pup has any special quirks, habits or routines and I’d be happy to accommodate!

About: Hi all! I am crazy about all dogs and am the proud pawrent to two adopted furbabies. One male, pocket pitmix, 6 and one female, chihuahua mix, 4. Both are fixed and friendly. To prevent an intervention of being the owner of way too many dogs to be socially acceptable, I’m opting to be a Rover walker and sitter instead. I am looking to make your dog extra comfortable by having dates where we can walk, play, have treat times, and take selfies. :) Happy to oblige with requests medical/dietary needs, dog park visits, sing alongs, etc. Very flexible with traveling and breeds to house-sit. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and in the bed. Have had dogs of various sizes and breeds (poodle, chihuahua, German Shepherd, cocker spaniel, currently pocket Pit mix) in the past, and am comfortable with any best friend of yours!
“Destiny did such an incredible job! She was super accommodating with a last minute trip I had for work. She sent lots of pictures and videos of my dog making me feel reassured that he was well taken care of. She left my house probably cleaner than the way she found it! She went above and beyond to clean up after herself. I would highly recommend her for any of your pets needs!”

About: I bring nine years of dedicated pet-care experience, primarily with my Siberian Husky, a breed known for its intelligence, energy, and unique behavioral needs. My background also includes occasional care for cats, giving me a well-rounded understanding of feline routines and temperaments. Whether it’s exercise, enrichment, or calm companionship, I’m committed to providing reliable, attentive, and compassionate care for every pet. I have flexible hours during the warmer months and love getting outside with my energetic Siberian Husky for regular walks and grooming. I can accept one-time bookings easily, though reoccurring schedules for walking should be discussed in advance since my availability may be limited. During November through April, walking services are more weather-dependent and may not always be open. Your dog is welcomed into a calm, dog-friendly home where they will have attention, companionship, and structure. Crate-comfort for short periods is important, especially for pups who may get anxious when left alone for quick errands. Day sitting is available for a minimum of 7 hours within a 14-16 hour day (pet needs to do well 8 hours overnight), with a maximum 3-hour break for other tasks; usually in the morning (this also applies to boarding). Overnight stays are generally limited to once every 3 booked days. I remain mindful of each pet’s boundaries and training. Please provide a clear list of your expectations for each home visit. • Furniture rules will match what they’re used to at home • Resource guarding or aggression cannot be accommodated for everyone’s safety My philosophy is simple: a dog should feel respected, understood, and appreciated every step of the way. ❤️

And in terms of doggies, there’s always somebody’s dog that needs to be walked/cared for; adored UWS elderly friend’s CUTE Dachshund, Marco 🐶, few years ago & just hosted another baby Dachshund, Charlie, for 15 days, we had SO much fun together!! 🤩 You can check out my ‘Wag’ bookings/reviews too.. sadly, haven’t had my own doggie yet (have a gorg Betta 🐠, Amadeo, since Jan), can’t wait to finally adopt one as soon as I live in a pet-friendly studio by myself! 🥰 I’m a not-yet-rich NYC Artist & Actress so available for these cute, FLEXIBLE jobs ASAP!! About: Hello, my name is Tyler, and I’ve been a pet owner to my dogs pinky and fendi for the past 14 years. I have also taken care of the dogs of my family and friends, and always make sure that they feel comfortable in their environment. All pets are family to me, and feel comfortable in my care. Looking forward to meeting your fluffy friends! I am currently working in a school, but get out at 3 everyday. So I will be ready to walk your pet for evenings and on weekends. When a pet comes into my home, I try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. When in a clients home, I try to keep them in their regular routine, and make sure that whatever is asked by the owner is completed without fail.
“Meka was such a professional and was wonderful with Myka (65-pound pit mix). Meka stayed overnight with her over July 4th, and had such a helpful calming presence for Myka, who hates fireworks. We hope to have Meka sit for us again soon!”

“We have used Jaidi's services several times and she will always be our go-to sitter for our cat Milo. We feel our travel options have broadened knowing our anxious/attached cat is in such good hands with Jaidi. She is consistently communicative and takes wonderful care of our home. Jaidi is the best!”

“Erin is the absolute best. She really pays attention to all of our detailed instructions and takes amazing care of our pets and home. She has sat for us on 4 occasions now and has consistently done an excellent job. I absolutely trust her and know that our fur family in in great hands with her.”

About: In total, I have approximately 20 years of experience in animal care. From birth, I grew up alongside dogs—a Great Dane, a Pekingese, and a Miniature Pinscher. This early exposure fostered a deep love for animals and a lifelong commitment to their care and well-being. Throughout my life, I've also cared for fish, parrots, turtles, and cats, all of whom have been dear to me. Many of my friends are also animal enthusiasts. For example, I often go on walks with a friend and her shepherd, and we take care of her puppies together. We have trained them in various commands, devised fun park games, and enjoyed our time together. Friends frequently leave their cats in my care when they are away, trusting me as their most responsible caretaker. I have my own cat with special dietary needs, which has made me knowledgeable about feeding and treatment, including how to administer medications painlessly. I adopted her from a shelter six years ago and have since brought her with me to another country. Her luxurious long fur and flat face, typical of Persian cats, require regular grooming, which has become part of my daily routine. Currently working part-time, I have the flexibility to dedicate my free time to what I truly love and am accustomed to—caring for your beloved pets. I am also now caring for my neighbor’s pug, as she is often away due to work. I provide the love and attention that the pug misses in her owner's absence—walking her, feeding her, and ensuring she receives the care she needs. The pug and my cat get along wonderfully, but the dog still requires the dedicated attention of a human. Anytime you can ask me for help with your pet care needs because I have a deep love for animals and extensive knowledge of their care. My responsibility, punctuality, and attentive nature ensure that your pets receive the best care and attention they deserve. I have ample time to care for pets, as I work part-time and want to do something meaningful for furry friends, also I just love to care about them. I care for my neighbor’s pug daily, as she is often absent. We play together, and I’m well-versed in her dietary needs and provide walks and attentive care. I even successfully introduced her to my own cat.
About: Hi! I’m Andy, and I can’t wait to meet your furry friend! I’ve always had a deep love for animals and feel so lucky to have grown up alongside dogs and cats. I’m passionate about giving every pet the love and care they deserve, whether it’s walking, feeding, playing, or ensuring their litter box is clean and fresh. I’m also experienced with handling multiple pets at once from my time working at a Pet daycare. I’m happy to travel to you within a reasonable distance of 5 miles. Please don’t hesitate to reach out — I’d love to care for your pet! I have a flexible schedule and am happy to work around your needs. Please check my calendar for available times, and feel free to reach out to see if I can accommodate your request. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Coney Island
Kadeisha took amazing care of our dog & home! She was super communicative throughout her stay, sent photos & videos daily, and left our house better than she found it. She stopped by a week before our booking on her own time to meet our pup and get to know her. I would absolutely recommend booking with Kadeisha. She is the best !!!

Christina was a great house/dog sitter! She put in te time to keep Charlie Chi happy and engaged and well-walked, communicated with me to ask about details, sent me photos of the places she visited with Charlie, and was respectful of my home. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage her again.

Mona was incredible with my two dogs and I give her the highest rating! She watched my dogs in difficult circumstances as the blizzard hit and my power went out. Other dog sitters would have probably needed me to return early from my trip. But Mona handled the whole situation very professionally. During her stay, she sent me beautiful photos of my dogs and kept me informed everyday with a status. Mona is extremely trustworthy and was highly respectful of my home. I have already booked her for the next time I am away. Mona is absolutely wonderful!!!!
We were moving from New York City to New Mexico, and our longtime dog sitter had also moved away. So we needed someone to sit Kirby, our rascally Golden Retriever, during our Going Away Party. Laura did an amazing job. Kirby loved her, and having Laura around all afternoon was a tremendous help. She's nice, smart, dependable. If you need someone to watch your pet, look no further: Laura is exactly who you need to contact.

Kati was amazing with our dog. Cersei was sad when Kati left because they got so attached. Kati also sent lots of updates/pictures throughout and was a great communicator. I will be lucky if Kati is available for our next need and I hope to be able to be a repeat customer of hers. Thank you, Kati!!

Nia was an absolute godsend! After reaching out to nine different cat sitters for Thanksgiving week with no luck — or no real sense of security — finding her truly felt like a miracle. Kylo adored her from the start, which is saying a lot given how hard it is for him every time we travel. He’s such a sociable boy and really struggles with the absence of people, but with Nia he was clearly comfortable, happy, and so well cared for. She sent thoughtful updates every day, paid close attention to his needs, and handled everything with so much care and professionalism. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone — and would rehire her without hesitation!

Alina was wonderful and at the last minute able to take care of Thor who wasn’t feeling the best. She was able to keep us updated with photo and video and even stayed late because we were running late getting home. We appreciated everything she did and so did Thor .

Mike is amazing! This was my first Rover booking, and he made sure everything went smoothly. He even came over a few weeks before our trip to meet us, our animals, and see the house. He also shared pictures and updates a couple times a day, which was great. We can’t wait to book him for our next trip. 😊

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Coney Island on Rover is $34.41 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 18,902 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Coney Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Coney Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Coney Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Coney Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Coney Island. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
