“Nikki was amazing! She took such good care of our pets. We have two Irish setters and two elderly cats. She loved them like they were hers and kept me informed the entire time with photos. I felt very comfortable and she also took such good care of our home, including helping watering our outdoor plants and taking out/in garbage. I highly recommend her!”
“Alessandra was a wonderful house guest and sitter. She looked after both our dogs and home, very clean and both pups loved her. Would highly recommend her for pet sitting, will be rebooking in the near future.”

“Our dogs LOVE Samantha! They were so excited to see her and spend time with her. She stayed at our house for 2 nights and made sure the dogs were safe and happy. Would definitely recommend!”

About: I’m on Rover to help you out with any / all your pets needs while you’re away! I work full time as a behaviorist in a public school. I don’t dog train, but I am familiar with any techniques that you may need for your pup! I have 3 dogs and 3 cats of my own. I have experience with all breeds! All mutts and senior pups are welcome. I also have experience administering medication to dogs. All dogs of breeds and age deserve attention and love. I’d love it if you let me love your pets as if they are my own too! Thank you for reading this. I am able to work with the families in terms of what they need. My calendar may not always reflect accurately as my times with my full-time job (human) clients do fluctuate. If it is blocked off it means I am 100% unavailable. I don’t recommend myself in terms of full-on puppy training and 24/7 puppy care due to my schedule but I am versed in the training techniques due to my career. I am available weekends for extra care and staying in your home full time. My pets are well loved and taken care of while I care for others. I will never be able to host in my home, so please consider this! I offer in home care, overnight, daily walks, and check ins. Animals will not be hosted in my home due to a senior dog I have who is on medication. For those reasons, home sitting is only available in terms of long care. I have done walks, trips to stores, parks, yard play, and car trips with fur babies for daily drop ins, walks, or overnight stays!
“Kelsey was great with our Goldendoodle! This was our first time using Rover and she came to meet Brodie the week before we went away. While we were away, she kept us updated with photos and took great care of him for two nights. We would book with her again and highly recommend to anyone looking.”

“Vanessa, thank you so, so much for taking great care of our pup. This was our first long time away from him and we’re as happy to see him as he is to see us. Thanks for all the great communication along the way.”

“Went away for a week. Maximilian puts the effort in to make our pups feel comfortable. He also communicates well and is quick to respond where needed. No complaints here, will book again.”

About: After 15 years with my dog, I’ve transitioned to being the go-to dog walker and sitter for my family and friends, and am excited to ! I have experience caring for dogs in every phase of life, from the energetic puppy days, to the senior days that required more attention. I understand firsthand what it takes to look after an aging dog, from mobility issues, to medication schedules, to just understanding an individual dog’s quirks. But, I’m just as comfortable with the energy and playfulness of puppies and young dogs, and I adjust my approach to fit whatever stage of life a dog is in. Working from home with limited meetings allows me to dedicate the time and care to dogs that they deserve, and I don’t mind the company myself! Whether your dog needs a walk, backyard exercise, feeding, a drop-in check, or someone to cuddle with on the couch while you’re away, I can accommodate your pet's needs! I treat every dog I meet with the love, kindness, and affection that I gave my dog, and I can’t wait to share that with more local dogs! I work from home with a flexible schedule, which allows me to be with pets all day and go for regular bathroom breaks/walks during the day as well. I am also available on weekends! When I’m in a client’s home, I follow their instructions, my goal is to keep their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, same feeding times, walk schedule, and any medications, so there’s minimal disruption while they’re away. I also make sure to give plenty of one-on-one attention and playtime, keep the home secure and tidy, and stay alert to any changes in behavior, eating, or energy level. I’m also careful with yard safety, checking that fences and gates are secure before letting a dog out and keeping an eye on them the whole time, rather than assuming a fenced yard means no supervision is needed. I also always keep the owner updated with photos or messages during the stay
“Kristen had a calming presence that put our anxious dog at ease immediately. There was no panic when we left :) We were really happy with the experience and hope to work together again soon!”

“Phenomenal job all around. It was our first time using rover for housesitting and we were a bit nervous to leave Marvin (our cat) for such a lengthy period given how many meds he has to have administered. He gets thyroid medication administered twice daily and gets a daily asthma pump. But Marvin was well taken care of! He was pampered and spoiled in all the best ways. We got daily updates with pictures and videos of Marvin which we were really appreciative of. Even during the meet-and-greet it was clear that Marvin would be just fine as Armeda wrote meticulously notes in her phone about Marvin’s routine (which as a spoiled cat is a lot!). We came back to a happy cat and an extremely clean house. I truly recommend Jason and Armeda, they were great. Thank you again!”

“Outstanding care for two special‑needs cats, last‑minute booking, and stellar communication! Skye did a truly fantastic job watching my two cats, both of whom need extra care. One is blind, and the other is diabetic and receives twice‑daily subcutaneous injections, and Skye administered medications exactly on schedule. From the start, Skye was incredibly kind, flexible, and professional—especially given how last‑minute the booking was due to an emergency. I received regular updates, which were so reassuring. I appreciated knowing that medications were given on time, feeding routines were followed, and my cats were comfortable and safe. The initial meet-and-greet was warm and professional, which immediately put me at ease. Skye’s attention to our cats’ special needs was exactly what we were hoping for in a sitter. Thank you so much, Skye — your flexibility, compassion, and reliability are deeply appreciated. I would absolutely book again and highly recommend your care to anyone who has pets with medical or unique needs”

“Christina was a great house/dog sitter! She put in te time to keep Charlie Chi happy and engaged and well-walked, communicated with me to ask about details, sent me photos of the places she visited with Charlie, and was respectful of my home. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage her again.”

“Luca was WONDERFUL! I have a senior dog with lots of issues and major separation anxiety. I have 2 year old naughty cat. They were both snuggling with Luca! He sent me updates and pictures throughout the night. I was able to have fun and not worry about my furry kids. I highly recommend him. My littles LOVED him. He was professional and courteous but still rolled around and snuggled and I can’t wait to use him again. He’s a 10/10! Thank you Luca!!”

“Ivy did a wonderful job at caring for our puppy, Kuma, while we were away! Ivy was very attentive to our puppy and asked great questions before to get a good sense of his needs. I really enjoyed getting pictures of Kuma throughout his time with Ivy. I have a very anxious dog and Ivy was super patient with Kuma until he warmed up to her. I will definitely be rebooking in the future!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 18,423 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Hancock. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Hancock walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Hancock maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Hancock choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Hancock. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
