“Bella had a great time at Jamie's, running in her nice grassy backyard. I really appreciate that Jamie was able to watch Bella while we went to the beach, and was very flexible about the drop off and pickup. And cute photos and videos are great!”

“Lorrie was SUCH a help to watch our pup in short notice and was so understanding to adjust her schedule to help us. Reina always has a blast with Lorrie and we cannot wait to bring her back to Lorrie’s real soon!”

About: We’ve taken care of our friend’s and roommates pets (both cats and dogs) for years before adopting our own dog, Gary, 7 years ago! I grew up with lots of animas and had loved them for as long as I can remember. I enjoy connecting and getting to know them, and I strive to make them feel comfortable, safe and relaxed in our home. I also have many years of experience babysitting and working with children, which isn’t too different in some ways. I will treat your dog as lovingly as if it were my own and will make sure to send pictures and videos so you know they are doing well. I am working full time from home, monday through friday, so your dog will not be left home alone for long periods of time. We usually go out for a long walk in the morning, a shorter walk for lunch (depending on the weather 20-30 min) and another long walk in the late afternoon, then a quick pee before bed. I would be happy to follow any rules/recommendations you may have, or answer any questions. I typically don’t let a new dog off-leash unless I am very familiar with them and the owner has explicitly requested that I do so. I am careful with other dogs, unleashed or not, that may approach and respectfully ask other owners to keep their distance if I sense that there is any stress on the part of either dog. Our apartment is child and dog proofed!
“Makayla and Eric S are amazing! My dog practically runs to their apartment every morning. They are super communicative and have worked with me when my schedule changes.”

“Nicole was so great with my new rescue dog, Howie!! I'm an anxious new mom and she was so accommodating and provided many updates throughout his stay. He loved spending the day with her and Worm and I would definitely recommend her for your pet care needs.”

“Erica is fantastic with Boston. She’s incredibly attentive and warm, and it puts me totally at ease seeing how calm and happy he is around her. I love the way she just takes care of the dogs. Thank you!”

“Churro loves visiting Kecia. She is responsive and accommodating to all of my dogs needs. I have to physically carry him out of her home because he loves her so much. Highly recommend using her services!”

“Vivian really took care of Jayce like her own pooch. She’s very mindful and attentive to Jayce, especially with his anxiety she is very caring and really made him feel comfortable!”

“Rachel was incredibly kind and caring. She eased my worries and made sure my Zuko was comfortable. She’s super professional. Zuko had such a lovely time, he went right to sleep when he got home. Thanks so much Rachel, we hope to visit again!”

“Jane was awesome and Bento loved his stay. Jane was a great communicator and sent lots of photo and video updates throughout the stay. I would highly recommend.”

“Nervana was quick to respond and very accommodating. Apollo was tired when he got home (exactly what I wanted) - she took him on a nice walk! Thank you Nervana. I highly recommend her and I would absolutely drop Apollo off again”

“Our usual sitter who’s heaven sent is currently going through a personal trial and had to put a pause on dog sitting. So we turned to Rover and found Shanna. And we couldn’t be happier. She updated us throughout the day which made us feel at ease. She enjoys what’s she does and she’s such a sweetheart. We truly found another great sitter. Our dogs came home and went straight to their beds to take a nap. She played with them all day. She’s also very compassionate. She encountered an unexpected event and she updated us and actually mollified our concerns. There is something calming about someone who takes pride in what they do. And that is what Shanna was. And her mother and family are sweet. We will be booking with her again. And again……and again.”

About: Hi there! My name is Madison G., and I’ve been surrounded by pets for over 20 years. Growing up in Seattle, my family always had dogs, cats, and even chickens, so caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I recently moved to New York and, while I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment, pet sitting allows me to do what I love most, spend time with animals, provide attentive care, and stay active with plenty of walks and playtime! You can count on me to treat your pet with the same love and attention I’d give my own. I take every job seriously and will make sure your furry friend is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I currently have a pretty open schedule and will amend my schedule to meet the needs of anyone who needs pet care! I am flexible. My home is clean and ensured to be pet safe. I'm situated, in a small neighbourhood, by many parks to walk around and quaint streets ideal for walking!
About: As a lifelong pet owner, I see and treat all pets as family members! 🐾💞 I will treat your animals with the love, care and respect they deserve. Currently, I am a proud mom of a chatty black cat named Binx 🐈⬛ and a very funny (and very opinionated) 2 year old husky named Aries who loves to sing 📣🐺 Both are very social, friendly, kind and well behaved. Both get along with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Both are fixed, vaccinated and healthy. I have walk several dogs in my old building complex - most are friends with my dog who is a very happy husky mix. I am the friend / neighbor everyone calls when they need help with their pets! I’m trained in walking dogs on standard leashes, slip leads, harnesses, choke collar (although, not personally preferred), retractable leashes, “no pull” harnesses, muzzles, etc. Previously, I volunteered at an animal shelter for years where I was properly trained on walking different degrees of behaviorally ranked dogs. Each level requires a 10 hour orientation so as to make sure both the dog and I were safe. I still apply many of those useful techniques today. I’ve owned, worked with and volunteered with dog breeds of all sizes and all kinds of personalities for many years and across NYC. I also adore cats, fish and reptiles as well. 🐠🐢🦎 I can help with walking, feeding / administering medication or vitamins, socialization, basic training (leash training, off-leash training, crate training, positive reinforcement, sit, stay, down, paw (and “other paw”), behavioral fixes like pulling on leash, etc), daycare for short or longer stays, drop-ins and whatever else you need! We can also work out trips to the dog park, groomer, vet, etc. Importantly, I am looking into becoming a certified dog trainer in the coming year 🐕🦺 My own dog gets 4-5 walks a day with a substantial exercise session as one of them! Clients have the opportunity to set their own schedules with me. I am available early, late, weekends and holidays! Working with animals is my full time occupation at the moment. However, when I am working in my other profession (legal & tech), I work solely from home. So, I am always local. I live in an apartment in a very secure, dog-friendly building with a fenced yard outside. These are cameras everywhere. If I am boarding a dog, no matter the duration, I will make myself available to FaceTime at any time so that parents are reassured and at ease. I am within minutes of an animal hospital should anything arise. I have all the supplies needed to host and house a dog or a cat including, but not limited to: • Crates, if needed or preferred • Leashes and collars • Beds • Food in surplus • Feeding bowls • Toys • Interactive toys & games • Treats • Calming music • Rental Insurance
“Chelsie was so helpful with a last minute booking. She had some of the best communication that we’ve had on the app and provided so many photos throughout the day. Worm loved hanging out with Chelsie and Isles and we’re looking forward to booking again!”

“Xena was only with Diana for a day for doggy daycare, but when we came to pick her up, she was in such a happy mood. She seemed so happy and comfortable with Diana. And knowing my dog was happy and well taken care of is enough for me Diana really is the best, and we will be coming back”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 11,049 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Fort Hancock. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Fort Hancock commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 11,049 sitters in Fort Hancock, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
