About: For the past 5 years, I’ve had a yellow labrador retriever named Hazel who is very energetic and playful. She’s my best friend! I’ve done house drop ins for friends and family for both dogs and cats to check in and take care of them. 💗 I currently work as a part-time before/aftercare teacher at a couple different elementary schools. I work Monday-Friday but have availability from 9:30am-2:30pm and after 6 pm. My weekends are free! I help my family feed our dog and provide her with water. I also take her on walks, to the park or play fetch in our backyard which has a good amount of running space for her. She’s a cuddler when she’s tired so we snuggle on the couch or play tug of war inside 😊
“Leigh was able to help us at the last minute. She took such good care of our dog Sadie. We were able to communicate with her while we were away. And she sent us pictures. So grateful for her!”

About: As a lifelong pet owner with years of hands-on experience, I know how much your furry family members mean to you. I specialize in creating a calm, loving environment, especially for dogs and cats who get a little nervous or anxious. Whether it's a leisurely walk or a cozy day of companionship, your pet will feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. I treat every animal like my own, because that's the only way I know how I currently do not work and I would like to use this time to bond with pets and make lasting connections. I enjoy this type of activity and should be open most days of the week. I am meticulous and always follow all directions. I have gotten some pretty thorough briefings on pets before and then glowing reviews afterward. Pets feel safe and comfortable with me and I’m happy to provide extra reassurances to the pet parents as well.
About: I've been an active dogsitter for nearly 15 years in the DC metro area. Specializing in older pets w/ health needs. My family has had dogs my entire life, so I have about 4 decades worth of experience with dogs. Since I don't have a dog of my own (despite being my parents' dog preferred human), I will treat yours like family. I'm a huge dog lover! I currently live in a house with 2 King Charles and 1 cat (acts like a dog). We have a fenced in backyard and for smaller dogs, a doggie door. For over a decade, I've been a trusted dogsitter for a handful of dogs in Washington, DC- references available upon request! Additionally, I have fostered three dogs from Laila's Legacy- 2 pitties and 1 Doberman. As a volunteer, I drove dogs to Adoption Events, served as a Handler, and helped bring pups to vet appointments. All dogs are great, especially the ones who like to snuggle. I've recently moved to New Jersey and am currently seeking full time employment. Until then, if your dog is okay with other animals, they can come stay with me or I'd be happy to dogsit in your home.
About: I am a lifelong dog owner with hands-on experience caring for my own dog as well as watching dogs for friends and family. Through these experiences, I have become comfortable with feeding schedules, administering basic care, providing exercise, reinforcing household routines, and giving dogs the attention and companionship they need. What sets me apart is that I understand how important it is to treat every dog like a member of the family. I am dependable, attentive to each dog’s individual needs, and committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and preferences so they can feel secure and happy in my care. I am also comfortable caring for dogs of different ages and energy levels and can accommodate special instructions from owners to ensure consistency and peace of mind. I am a school psychologist off for the summer. I am available through Labor Day for more full time care, and on week nights and weekends during the school year. I have a fenced in yard that is pet friendly! I have a very active five year old golden doodle, so my home is pet proofed.
“First time using Rover. I am very pleased with the care provided by Vick for my two Cavachons Kurt and Kyle. She was very detailed orientated regarding their care and provided a nice long walk while we were out all day. A very kind care giver, the boys had a great time with her. Five star performance!!”

“Jennifer was great as always! She’s so caring for our older pup who often needs assistance getting up and down the stairs. She always makes sure they have fresh water after a walk and her communication is timely and detailed.”

About: I've taken care of multiple dogs since childhood and am an avid dog lover. I currently am the go-to for all my neighbors dogs while they’re at work. I will treat your dog like my own and ensure happy and active visits and walks! I’m in between full-time jobs so have full availability to care for your dogs when needed through the summer months. Weekdays, weekends, days, & nights! I have my own leashes and dog bags to clean up. I would take dogs walking with my dog if desired, or solo walks with just your dog.
About: I’ve become the go-to person among my friends for pets that need extra care or have specific routines. I understand how important consistency is, and I’m very mindful of maintaining each dog’s normal schedule. As a dog owner myself, I truly empathize with how it feels to leave your pet in someone else’s care. I prioritize clear, thoughtful communication—keeping you updated and reassured, while also giving you peace of mind to enjoy your time away. I currently work part-time while attending school through a hybrid online program, giving me a flexible schedule to provide your pups with the care and attention they deserve. I truly love being around dogs! 🐶🤍 I’m very mindful and respectful of a dog’s home environment and personal space. I take my time building trust and focus on creating a calm, safe presence so they feel comfortable and secure.
“Olivia was so kind with Wally. She even cleaned up an accident that Wally had. She sent us lots of photos and provided us updates. We look forward to working with Olivia again.”

About: Supplementing my childhood dog by taking care of strangers pets! If the best part of a dog’s day is dinner time or their walk I am glad I get to be the one who gives it to them :) I’m currently doing school online so I have plenty of time to spend with pets and love to have their company while I work too! It leaves me with pretty much entirely open availability have lots of experience caring for and playing with tons of dogs! The best method is playing so much that they’re too tired to get into any trouble lol!
“Rick is truly the best! We were looking for a new dog sitter and feel so lucky to have found Rick. His property is truly a dog heaven with open space for the dogs to run, play, and explore. When we first met Rick he introduced his own dogs to our dog Ruby one at a time and made Ruby very comfortable. Rick treated Ruby just like his own dog. He sent multiple videos and we could see how happy she was in his care. I highly recommend Rick! We will definitely use Rick again to care for Ruby! :)”

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Hancock. On Rover:
- 88% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
