I’m currently on summer break, which gives me a very flexible schedule for pet care. I’m able to spend most of the day with them, with exceptions for errands, but they will never be left alone, as I live with family. I provide at least 2–3 walks or potty breaks per day, and I’m happy to adjust based on your pet’s needs and routine. I also accept last-minute bookings whenever possible!

I prioritize safety, comfort, and clear communication at all times. I live in a house with a fenced front yard, but your pet will always be supervised when outside. During walks, I try to avoid streets with a lot of traffic to help pets feel secure, especially in new environments. I always pay close attention to their behavior and surroundings. I live with my family, so pets will never be left alone if I had to run out, and I always communicate this clearly with owners ahead of time. I currently don’t have other pets in my Brooklyn home aside from fish, which allows me to give your pet my full attention. I can also follow instructions like crating or separating pets if needed.

Before caring for a pet, I like to understand their temperament, feeding schedule, allergies or dietary restrictions, and behavior. I am comfortable with smaller dogs under 30 lbs that are reactive or pull on leash, but aggressive behavior such as biting or lunging would be a dealbreaker. Having this information helps me tailor care, keep pets safe, and give owners peace of mind.
A typical day
I love keeping dogs physically and mentally stimulated. Favorite activities include fetch, tug-of-war, and interactive play, as well as practicing tricks and teaching new ones. Outdoor adventures vary by dog, but can include neighborhood strolls, park visits, and longer walks in good weather. I adjust the type and intensity of play depending on each pup’s energy level, age, and personality, ensuring every dog gets the attention, exercise, and enrichment they need to feel happy and fulfilled.

Hi! I'm Janis—a college student on summer break, excited to meet your pet(s)! I’ve been caring for all kinds of animals since I was young—dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish—you name it! Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of dogs— from energetic puppies to senior dogs, as well as large breeds like Pit Bulls, Samoyeds, and Labradors. I am open to making exceptions for some large breeds depending on their behavior and after a meet-and-greet. I’ve also volunteered at an animal shelter, where I gained experience walking and handling anxious dogs. My experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant has given me strong familiarity with handling medications, special diets, and injury care. I’m highly attentive, detail-oriented, and comfortable following specific care instructions to ensure your pet’s safety and well-being. I’m very responsive and make sure pet parents always feel connected by sending frequent photo and video updates. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and bond with them through the activities they enjoy most.

Janis did an amazing job! Our dog didn't want to leave at the end!🤣 She went above and beyond and did all the optional stuff from our care instructions. I can tell that her home has a great family atmosphere that helped tremendously in making our dog feel not only comfortable but loved! She was very responsive throughout his stay, and helped us feel at ease by sending pictures and detailed messages. We will definitely be asking her to watch our dog again.
