“I have so much anxiety leaving our cats, but Wolf made me feel so at ease! Their pictures and notes each day were wonderful and helped me enjoy my trip. We hope to book them again for our next travels!!!”

“Nina was amazing! She took good care of Lily and provided plenty of pictures. I also really appreciate her attention to detail with her pet questionnaire prior to booking. I would highly recommend Nina! Thanks again! ☺️”

“Every time I have Meranda watch my kitties she sends so many pictures which I love so much! She’s so careful and her attention to detail and updates are so appreciated when I’m away from my girls.”

“Olivia went above and beyond for my 2 cats. They are both shy with strangers but they are very social and get desperately lonely when I leave. I asked Olivia to be patient with them and just sit on the floor the entire half hour even if they’re too shy to come out of hiding for a few days. Not only did she do that, but she even stayed extra long one day in order to win my cats’ trust. By the last couple days, she had my cats asking for scratches and playing fetch with her! It was a huge relief to know that my girls were able to connect with her. I would definitely hire her again.”

About: Early 40’s year old sitter/walker with car. You could say I have 40+ years of experience. My family had a German Shepherd from before I was born and I was very close to her. There has been a stream of pets in my family. Including so so so many cats in NYC. Even going so far as to “rescue” a half feral one. Currently, I share ownership of a dog. As a small business owner of over 10 years, I am able to have a flexible schedule and spend more time hanging out with your pet(s). That said, I have a lot of experience managing other people, and I do have high expectations for clear communication from clients. I have never had a complaint from clients that already have human children. I am very clear about the kind of care I offer. For example, I clearly state I can do 4-8 hrs for letting out. That does not mean that when I get to the sit, you tell me you expect every hour. I also do not cancel other bookings so that you can be the sole client. I have been through that, obliged, and the client was still dissatisfied. I am running a business and the new owner of this app runs on harsh algorithms that hide you in search. Let’s try to be better and more human, than conforming to private equity and their bottom line. For the fur babies, I can follow their diet and pet or play or brush their hair. As long as you give me a list or schedule, I'll do my best to provide it. I have extensive experience with pets at all stages of life. (As well as other kinds of pets which I am open to caring for.) I understand the care required for a wide variety of needs and can do my best to provide reinforcement on current training, but I am not going to be attuned right off the jump to the nuances noticed by your trainer or you... I can reinforce sit, lay down, paw, stay, heel, rollover, or anything else. I can administer medicine. I am not formally trained in pet CPR, but I am trained in human CPR and have looked at videos for pet CPR. When I was younger I worked as a lifeguard, and have a remarkable natural ability to stay calm and act fast in crisis situations. This comes in handy, for example: when protecting my maltipoo from other dogs, managing territorial behavior, or keeping one dog out of another dog’s bowl. My schedule is flexible and I have a car. I have a small business and partial responsibility of my dog, so I do need to be able to run errands, go to meetings, or check in at home to keep that part of my life running. For extended care, and distance further than 5 miles, I prefer be given the option to stay over at clients for the sake of gas costs, time, and energy. First meeting and approach are important to setting a precedent, I first see if the pet will approach me. I like to offer my hand palm down for them to smell. Sometimes it takes a few times smelling the hand before they feel comfortable letting me pet them. In my opinion it’s important not to mess up first impressions with the pet. Spending time together builds familiarity bonds, being attentive builds trust. It’s important to build rapport.
“Emma came to the rescue for us first time puppy owners! She couldn’t be sweeter with Frisbee and was a huge help to us in learning the ropes on routines and tips to make puppy ownership a breeze. Knowing she was coming over to play with our girl gave us such peace of mind. Frisbee loved her too! 🐾”

“Gabby did GREAT handling my two big babies! They loved her and I had no issues. I will for sure be rebooking Gabby when I need help in the future. Thanks again!”

“Emily took great care of our two cats while we were away. She was always in communication, giving updates and sending pictures, and went above and beyond when we asked for extra help with small items. We were very comfortable knowing that our cats were so well taken care of. We will definitely book with Emily again. Thank you!”

“Muning and Corey took excellent care of our two cats while we were away. They were very communicative and helpful, and went above and beyond taking extra care of our older cat who had frequent accidents. I highly recommend them both for any pet care care. Thank you, Muning and Corey!”

“Jessalyn is just the best. She’s consistant, she’s flexible, she’s kind and caring, and she absolutely goes above and beyond every time! I am and will continue to be a repeat customer for sure.”

“Amazing sitter! My babies (she watched my rat terrier pup and holland lop bunny) aren’t used to new people in the apartment all the time, plus we just moved so new space. Stephanie took the time to make sure they were not only properly cared for with all the weird things that come with pets, but they quickly came to feel comfy around, love, and look forward to her visits I could tell! Would love her to sit anytime!”

“I am repeated client with Melissa and I really trust her with my beloved cat Oakley! She truly spends time with him and gives him much needed attention while we are away! Thank you!”

“I am beyond grateful for Alison’s exceptional care of my dog. Not only did they provide all the basics—feeding, walks, and playtime—but they went the extra mile to make sure my dog was safe during a snowstorm. She was incredibly. It was evident that Alison thought about my dog and when above and beyond and truly cares about animals, and I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in such capable hands. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter, thank you for your kindness and dedication!”

“Brendan was great with our 2 dogs. The dogs seemed to like him and the pictures proved that. He took his time with each dog individually which was nice for the dogs to get their own attention. Thank you for respecting our home and taking care of our fur-babies! We are definitely keeping Brendan in our favorites.”

About: I’ve taken care of pets for family and friends for as long as I can remember. I love going on walks and seeing new parts of the city and would love to have a companion on my adventures. Our family dog passed a little over a year ago and I miss having a pet in my life even if just for a quick 20 minute walk. I will care for your pet as if they were my own. I am currently on summer break from work and would love to take care of your pet in my free time. My schedule is fairly open and flexible. I have a fenced in yard in a quiet neighborhood and own a crate if needed for their comfort. I foster dogs so I have raised food and water dishes, a bed, and other essentials to make their stay comfortable.
“Tabby is absolutely wonderful. My pups and kitty had a lovely time with her. I could tell they were really comfortable while I was gone. She has watched them multiple times at this point and I will definitely be booking her for services again whenever I am headed out of town.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cincinnati
This was my first time working with Jeff and he took very good care of my cat, Carmella while I was out of town. He sent updates and photos on a daily basis each time he came to the house and watered my plants/flowers as well. He has experience with and a passion for animals, and I will have him take care of my pets again in the future.

I had the absolute pleasure of having Mikaela stop by and care for my cats while my husband and I were away, and I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about the experience! She spent quality time with them, made sure their food and water were taken care of, gave them plenty of attention and cuddles, and kept me updated on how they were doing. When we arrived home late that evening, it was obvious how happy, relaxed, and well cared for they had been. Knowing they were in such great hands made all the difference and allowed us to enjoy our trip worry free. I will absolutely be booking with Mikaela again!

Margaret was a great sitter and very reliable! Our cat needs medicine at the same time everyday and she was on time every time to give it to him. She seems very comfortable around animals and asked great questions in our meet and greet. She even sprayed down our gecko’s enclosure for us which is above and beyond!

Christina is great with my dog Sherman. She is reliable and communicative with what’s going on which I appreciate. Sherman is a big and active dog and it makes such a different that he can stretch his legs outside and get a potty break in the middle of my work day. I would highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
