“With a senior dog, we do get nervous about leaving mango new places. I would say within five minutes of the meet and greet it was clear that Shanilka and her husband would be taking great care of him. They asked all the right questions and during our stay sent regular updates to make sure we knew he was in good hands. Would definitely use again!”

“Juan Carlos stayed with Valeria and her family for 3 weeks! Was a lot of time! But they did an amazing job with him! We felt so relax knowing that he was in a good and safe place”

“Any and Paul were great! Our nervous dog Javier seemed to warm up to them pretty quickly. They were very communicative and kept us up to date on how he was doing. We would definitely use them again! Thank you both!”

“When I tell you I’ve never felt more relieved to have someone like Michele watch my fur babies while away for my wedding. She made me and my pups feel comfortable and I could feel that dogs are her passion, not just a hobby. I pray that every time I need a sitter she is available!!! You’re the best Michele!!! Thanks so much!”

“Cheza loved her stay with Masha! She got to have her own mini vacation while we had ours. Masha was very communicative and kept in touch and sent pictures. And she was also helpful with navigating using Rover too. We will definitely be booking again the next time we need a sitter.”

“Rebeka did an awesome job taking care of Ollie. She regularly shared pictures, took him on walks, and provided frequent updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. It was a huge relief knowing Ollie was in such good hands. Thank you, Rebeka, for taking such wonderful care of Ollie and making him feel right at home. We truly appreciate everything you did! 🐾😊”

“My dogs love going to Victor’s house! I can see the happiness on their faces in the pics that he sends. Victor is highly professional and responsive. We don’t have to think twice about their safety or comfort.”

“My dog stayed with them for a week, and seemed happy and calm. I really appreciated the many pictures and videos I was sent throughout the week. Thank you!!”

“Our pup had a great stay with Coralis. She updated us regularly about our pup and sent great pics which made us very comfortable. I highly recommend her.”

“We are so grateful to Alex and Daniel for being willing to take a chance on our pup, who has had some behavioral issues with strangers. During the meet & greet, Ella immediately warmed to them both...so we knew that we had a great fit here. Ella had a glorious stay at their home, with lots of TLC and belly rubs. We've already booked her next visit!”

“Annette was very responsive and took care to make sure that Buddy felt comfortable in her home. I would recommend her for folks that need overnight care for their pups (large or small). Thank you.”

“Kiki is AWESOME! Our dog is on the older side and has some issues with allergies that, upon meeting for the first time, Kiki immediately noticed. I took that as a sign of empathy and caring, and felt I felt very confident leaving our dog, Rock, with her. Upon returning home, Rocky was happy, well-feed, and cared for. We HIGHLY recommend Kiki for dog sitting!!”

“We’ve been using Nadia’s dog sitting services repeatedly and couldn’t be happier. Our dog is always well cared for, and Nadia goes above and beyond when it comes to communication and accommodating our needs. We’ll continue booking with her and recommend her without hesitation.”

“Paola took care of my dog Bagel during the big DC winter storm while I was away for work. She helpfully dealt with a difficult situation where Bagel was afraid to go out during the snowstorm. She also provided regular updates!”

“Marlin was awesome while watching my cat Buckeye. She really put me at ease about leaving her with a sitter for the first time. Marlin was quick to ask questions and respond when needed, even provided me updates on how my cat was doing. I would absolutely recommend Marlin as a sitter to anyone in need and will be booking again in the future. Thanks Marlin!”

“Jessica was wonderful with Bruno. He was very excited coming into her home. She sent me pictures throughout the time he spent with her. Those pictures were very much appreciated. She was very complimentary of Bruno.”

About: I love animals and I have always had a variety of pets (both typical and unique) as beloved members of my family or cherished beings I’ve gotten the opportunity to spend time with. Some of the animals I’ve lived with or cared for include: dogs, cats, fish (salt and fresh), birds, hedgehogs, hamsters, reptiles, rabbits, pigs, and many more! I currently live in Hyattsville with my partner and our 4 beautiful rescue dogs (Havanese-6 y/o, Pomeranian-17 y/o, Husky-12 y/o, and Pittie-8 y/o). Over the years, my diverse and pawfict pack has taught me more and more about pet care. Especially my senior Pomeranian–whom I’ve had the privilege to love since he was a rambunctious puppy–now into his baby grandpa-hood, and hopefully into his twilight years. I look forward to walking dogs and meeting/sitting various pets in our neighborhood. Thank you for considering me to care for your special family member! My schedule can be somewhat flexible - if I know in advance I can change the days/hours I work. I currently work as a substitute teacher and part-time for parks and rec. When I’m working, my partner is usually home. On my off from work days, I’m available to sit and/or drop-in on your pet. On weekends my availability is variable, but I try my best to keep my Rover calendar up to date. My partner and I live in Hyattsville with our 4 dogs (Havanese-Maltese, Pomeranian, Husky mix, and Terrier mix). We have a fully fenced-in backyard and 2 separate living spaces in our home, giving us room for extra pups. Our home has one-step entry in the back, making it great for elderly dogs or dogs with joint problems.
“Danielle was awesome! My pup had a great time with her and the fenced yard was so great. Danielle took her on wake and played with her each day. My pup was a happy camper ?. I would most definitely consider this sitter again. My dog has such better temperament, I even would like to take her there once a week of it is possible.”

“My Brutus had such a great time with Christian. This was the second time that she has kept him and this time for a week. This was my puppies first overnight stay with Christian and she made it effortless. She was very communicative sent pictures and videos and really took care of my Brutus for a majority of the pictures. He looked happy. 10 out of 10 recommend”

Awesome service! He took my pups in at the last minute, sent pictures, took them for walks, and made them feel comfortable. Provided special attention to one of my pups that has really bad separation anxiety. I highly recommend if you want someone that will treat your pups as his own, this is your guy!

I highly recommend Nick for cat sitting! He boarded my cat, Scotty, for 10 days and did a fantastic job. Nick followed all my instructions to the letter, sent me daily pictures so I knew Scotty was doing well, and Scotty really took to him right away. The absolute best part was that Nick offered pickup and delivery services, which was a total lifesaver since I was pressed for time to catch my flight. I will definitely use Nick's services again!

Lily was so kind and accommodating. She took a last minute booking for my boy Kash. My first time booking with her and she was so professional, and kept me informed the entire trip. She was even able to keep him for an extra night when my trip was delayed, and dropped him off for me the next day. 10 out of 10, amazing dog sitter. Thanks Lily:)

Yosef was absolutely amazing!!! He sent me daily videos of my baby. His communication was top tier. The pick up and drop off process was seamless. I was so nervous as this was Bentley’s first time being watched by a stranger and Yosef made me feel extremely comfortable and kept my anxiety at bay. Bentley had a blast interacting with the other dogs and even found himself a crush in Luna lol. I will definitely be booking again.

Melanie took care of my great Pyrenees and made her feel right at home. I was gone for a week over Christmas break and she had no issues whatsoever. My dog came back happy, healthy, and tuckered out from playing with the other dogs in Melanie's care. Highly recommend this sitter and will be booking again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
