“Cal and Kelly took great care of our large German Shepherd Loki for his (and our!) first Rover experience. Loki hadn't spent a lot of time with other dogs in close quarters prior to this stay, but Cal put us at ease in our initial meet-and-greet with him and both their dogs. We also really appreciated the regular communication throughout Loki's stay. Cal and Kelly were always super responsive and they sent us high-quality photos and videos of Loki every day playing with other dogs and looking like he was having a great time. Would definitely recommend to others and will be boarding Loki with Cal and Kelly again!”

“Any and Paul were great! Our nervous dog Javier seemed to warm up to them pretty quickly. They were very communicative and kept us up to date on how he was doing. We would definitely use them again! Thank you both!”

“This is my third time on Rover. All of them have been for boarding longer than 5 days. This was the longest—10 days. Jordan was extremely attentive! I received really nice updates with photos every single day. I couldn’t have asked for more. Ahh! I’m so grateful! Jordan, I will definitely see you again. You’re the best out there!”

“Valeria was very attentive and gentle as well as detailed. I asked for a few extra things be looked out for and she was on it all. We also had to extend another night last minute and she not only made it worked but was incredibly sweet about it. Definitely recommend!”

“Hello this was my first time boarding my pup Tyson and when I say it was an excellent experience from beginning to finish. Crystal S. sent me pictures and updates on his stay and the pictures was amazing just and relaxing laid out on her mats. She has everything you puppy will need and that put you at ease. I will be booking again. I love the quality work and love she expressed to my pup pup! Till the next time. Continue the excellent service you provide.”

“15/10 experience. Josh & Andres went above and beyond to accommodate my last minute request and everything went perfectly. It was my first time having my puppy away from me for a night so the photos and videos and updates they sent me were very comforting. Hermes seems so happy, he definitely had a great time with them. Thank you!!”

“We had a fantastic experience boarding our dog, Bob, with Jessica and her sweet dog, Max, for six days. Jessica went above and beyond—she walked Bob even in the rain, made sure he took his medication, and somehow even convinced him to wear his coat (a miracle in itself!). She sent thoughtful updates, and it was clear Bob felt completely at home. We’re so grateful for her care and would absolutely trust her again. Highly recommend!”

“Pamela treated our little pup, Chip, like he was her own! Chip had a wonderful time with Pamela and Spiffy going for leash walks, playing fetch, and relaxing both inside and outside. Pamela had an emaculate”

“As always -- nothing but top-notch TLC for Ella when she stays with Alex and Daniel! We couldn't be luckier to be able to rely on them to keep our girl happy, healthy, and loved while we're away.”

“It’s Nigel’s third stay with Masha & family. Knowing Nigel is under their care gives me total peace of mind. Masha & fam is definitely my first choice for Nigel’s home away from home.”

“Ms. Sherie is so great with my pup and he can be a handful. I can travel stress free knowing he is being well taken care of by someone who cares. She is great and I highly recommend her!”

“Lorna was great with my fur baby. He is a puppy, so he is still a little hyper, but that did not bother her at all. She sent me updates and pictures and in the pictures, he was doing the same things he does at home so, I know he felt welcomed at her home.”

“I left Sophie with Michelle and Stacy again for 8 days in September, and I'm confident she was well-cared for. I think she loves playing with their dog Stella. Thanks Michelle and Stacy!”

“Theresa took great care of Mary. She shared ample photos of Mary playing walking and relaxing. She was quick to respond to all messages and was understanding and flexible with pick up and drop off.”

“William was great to work with! It was so great getting pictures of Nala looking so happy. She’s the only dog at our house so she loved having a friend to play with. I actually think she was sad to come home & missed her new friends. Will definitely work with William again!”

“Another AMAZING and caring experience with Shuli. My pooch is now 10 years old and Shuli really knows him inside out( and us too!) I am already booking two more boarding times in total peace of mind and so thankful for Shuli.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burtonsville
Melvin and his wife are just fantastic! Our Kiko is still very hesitant around other dogs, and really hated life the one time we had to board her. So glad we found Melvin, who took care of her with compassion, and seemed as interested in her welfare as we we are. I'm sure that Kiko will be overjoyed the next time she gets to spend a vacation with the guy we are already referring to as Uncle Melvin. Book with confidence.

Our two dogs and one cat had a great time with Erin! She accommodated our nervous dog by introducing him slowly to others, and accommodated our tripod by putting down plenty of mats for him to walk on as his one front foot sometimes slips on hard, smooth floors and he gets scared. She made sure they had what they needed and were comfortable, which allowed me to relax on my vacation knowing they were well taken care of. Thank you Erin!

Rubi and Martha were AMAZING with our puppy, Cooper! We were away for the weekend and they were so communicative! My boyfriend and I LOVED receiving all pictures and videos. It made us feel so much comfort knowing he was having the best time with Rubi, Martha and their pups! We would 100% recommend their services to anyone and will definitely be using them again! Super grateful we found them and they took care of our baby!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
