“Madeline watched my 3-month-old puppy a few times. My puppy loves her and feels safe with her. She is calm and loving and knowns how to handle an energetic puppy. Madeline sent me updates throughout the day with pictures. She is a wonderful pet sitter and we love to have her back. Highly recommend her.”

“Paola was an outstanding pet sitter for our (anxious) dog. She went out of her way to care for her, treating a problem area and working with us intensely to find the best solutions. I cannot say enough heartfelt good things about Paola.”

“Zoe was fantastic! I’m always worried about Prince when I leave, and have not had the best experience with overnight Rovers staying at my house ie keeping it clean etc. and Zoe was nothing short of a dream. She kept me updated, sent me so many pictures of Prince, was patient with him because he can be super energetic and let me know if he accidentally ate anything. I came back and my house was just how I left it. Hopefully she is available for my week long trip at the end of July because I will be booking again!”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets - fish, dogs, cats, and birds primarily - for around 10 years. Possibly more. Absolutely love being able to assist elderly pups as well I’m currently a college student who has a lot of free time at various times during the day. Happily available to stay over as needed I play with and relax with the pets during the day and take them on walks as needed. Depending on age or size of the dog I try to give them one longer walk each day.
“Katherine was amazing with my girls!! She was able to do a meet and greet before our booking and ever since was very responsive and kept me update all the time. At the time of her stay she was very respectful of our home, and took amazing care of my dogs. Definitely will book again!!”

“Elizabeth was fantastic with our two pups! They were able to stay in the comfort of our home and still have someone to play with while we were out for work. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“It. was my first booking with Xena and had an amazing experience! She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, professional and my baby was comfortable around her. The minute they met he was all over her to play and was really worried that with his high energy it may be too much to handle. Xena was so patient and kind with him which gave me the peace of mind and will be booking again in the future.”

“Shania was amazing. We met before the actual sitting and went on a walk so she can meet Bailey and Buster. This was my first time using this type of service and I was a little nervous. She exceeded my expectations and put my mind at ease. I will for sure hire her again.”

“Tyasia V. was a most wonderful caretaker of my cat Agape while I was away 4 and 1/2 days. She clearly loves animals and was very attentive and loving to my cat of 18 years with kidney disease. She was especially wonderful because she came about 5 times to not only meet Agape but learn how to give her infusions, injections of fluids she needs for her kidney disease, which she gave Agape in my absence along with other medications. She was so gentle with Agape as well as playful. She was honest, communicated regularly with me about Agape...sent photos. And left my apartment spotless. I will use her again when I have to go away for a short while. Thank you, Tyasia”

“Jennifer is a dream. She stayed two days and an overnight with my two aging rescue dogs and I believe they would have preferred to swap me for her by the end of her stay. She cuddled and played with them and sent great pix, and she left the house spotless. She was so easy to work with and a good communicator. I will definitely use her again for home stays with my dogs.”

“I have used Rover before, I teach and train dog agility, and I work on Rover. I am particular. Sarah exceeded my expectations. My boys are timid with strangers, she completely won them over the first day and a week later I wasn’t sure they wanted us to come home. She has a way with dogs, she plays with them, gives them lots of attention, cuddles them and it shows - you can see in the pics they fell in love with her. Of course she is also very responsible, clean and sends the best pics! I am not giving Sarah a 5 star review… I’m giving her 10 ⭐️”

“I simply cannot express the relief I had while traveling with Vanessa as my house/pet sitter. I have 2 cats and was babysitting my daughters cat, who arrived the day I left. Vanessa sent pics everyday of the cats snuggled with her or chilling in their fav spots! My trip was very unexpected, and it was my first time using Rover. I’ve always wary booked Vanessa again for a trip I had planned and was going to take my cat to my daughters, but it was so much more relaxing for them here in their home❤️”

“This was Captain’s first time with Yolanda. She took care of him in our home for two days. Cap can be a handful because he’s reactive to dogs and cars. She did a great job of anticipating issues and redirecting his attention. Overall, Yolanda was very professional, gave us updates and photos twice a day and responded quickly whenever we tried to contact her. We’ll be happy to have her take care of him again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burtonsville
Ashley was phenomenal taking care of our dog and two cats while we were out of town. She took time to come over and visit before our scheduled booking to get to know the animals. While we were out of town she was in constant communication with us and sent us multiple pictures of our pets. We would be happy to have her watch our pets again. Thank you so much Ashley!!!

Tristan has been our incredible pet sitter for a long time now! When he’s with our very needy rescue cat, with big feelings and separation anxiety, we have no worries and are just so happy that he’s taking such good care of her!! Couldn’t recommend Tristan enough!

Elizabeth has performed housesitting on several occasions for our two Golden Retrievers. We make sure that she is available when we schedule vacations that require onsite care for our fur babies. She provides frequent updates including pictures. We trust her to make the appropriate decisions regarding household activities.

Faith watched our three dogs and she did awesome! She was always extremely responsive, was assiduous in asking questions to make sure everything was done according to schedule, and provided much needed pictures and videos while we were away :). She allowed us to enjoy our trip confident our fur babies were in excellent hands. When we got back they were sad to see her leave... Highly recommend for anyone!
We found Kelly to be very professional and trustworthy. She was able to manage our huge dogs that are not the best listeners and did it so well :-) We were able to enjoy our vacation as a result. This is the first time I used the rover app as it was recommended by a friend so we were not sure what to expect. I highly recommend Kelly 💕

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Burtonsville on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 11,413 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Burtonsville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burtonsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burtonsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burtonsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
