“Astrid is wonderful! She made us feel very comfortable to leave our cats with her. She would always go above and beyond and send us so many pictures. We will be booking with her again!”

“Steven was incredible with my girls. He genuinely cares about what he is doing and gave both of my dogs so much care and support while I was away. They loved having him over for drop ins.”
“Alexandra was great! She not only cared for our cats, but also watered our plants. She followed our instruction perfectly and used her own judgment when necessary. Alexandra kept us apprised appropriately. Would book again!”

About: Hi! My name is Renee and I’ve been taking care of animals for most of my life. I grew up in a household with many different kinds of pets including dogs, rodents, and reptiles. I currently own two small dogs, Shih Tzu and Maltese mixes, one is 13 and the other is 3. I love all animals and am comfortable with them all. I’m currently unemployed so I have tons of time to care for and play with your furry friends! I’m mostly available on weekends as I have responsibilities weekdays, but I’m very flexible! I have a fenced in yard. I would keep my dogs separate just as a proactive measure since they are small. In your home I would care for your precious pet how you see fit!
“Matilda did a great job checking in on my dog. I love that she initiated a pre-walk-through to make sure that she had a good understanding of what to do. She sent pictures and detailed updates which I really appreciate it.”

“Karleigh took our drop in request on short notice and was super responsive and flexible throughout the week. We felt very confident leaving our cat in her care and she went above and beyond to make sure we came back to a clean house and a happy cat.”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and cats and have learned how to care, play, and communicate with them through a lifetime of caring for them in my own home. I’ve come to love their little personalities, every pet a distinct individual. I also have experience working in a local pet store and know a great deal about nutrition and treats for pets. I can walk, check in on, or sit for your pet while you’re away in a safe, trustworthy manner. Dogs of all sizes as well as cats are welcome! I hope you’ll consider me today! I’m a full time college student, so my schedule is very flexible. I am most available in the summer and winter, but during the semester I’ll have plenty of time fri-sun and later availability mon-thur! I am able to control rowdy/excited animals on walks and have extensive knowledge in pet diet restrictions. Pet care may seem simple, but I take their safety and security very seriously. If anything unusual happens, you’ll be notified straight away.

“Brian took care of my cat for 3days, when I was out of town. He sent me pictures every day to let me know everything went well. From the pictures, I can tell my cat enjoyed playing with him and was relaxed. I would like to book Brian to be my cat's sitter next time, if he is available.”

“Carla was great. I tend to be one of those pet mothers that is very anxious about leaving my dog with others, or even alone for extensive periods of time. I felt at ease this time around and each check-in was in a timely manner. Overall great experience with Carla!”

“Stefany was great with our pets. They all came out to visit her, which doesn't happen to all care providers. She was friendly and professional to us and very loving to the kitties.”

About: I've loved animals my whole life, back to the days of summer camp at the National Zoo. I've walked many different dogs through watching friends' and neighbors' pets and volunteering at local animal shelters. I'm also a cat lover who has had cats in the house my whole life, and I even have some experience with pet fish! Animals of all sizes and personalities will be well-loved when spending time with me. :) Added bonus: I'm an excellent pet photographer, so I promise I'll get your furry friend's best side! I'm on summer break from school starting June 19, 2026, so I'll be available most days (including daytime, evenings, and weekends) unless I'm traveling! Before then, I'm available evenings and weekends. My priority is making sure your pet is safe and feels safe with me. I will always ensure your animal has food and water, bathroom access, and protection from other animals. I'm happy to accommodate any pet-specific concerns, too -- I have lots of experience with reactive dogs and will discuss your pet's needs before I spend time with them. I'm committed to spending as much time as needed making sure an animal feels comfortable with me.
About: I’ve cared for lots of pets over my years since I was younger. Family as well as neighbors and friends, providing walking to clean up well as bathing. It’s become a passion of mine and I’d love nothing more to help those care for their own when they are unable or can’t themselves. I’m working part time so I’ll have lots of time for your pets. I’m comfortable working with pets of all ages as well and providing as much help as I can. I’m in an apartment with enough space for your pet or pets to go for walks. Also for enrichment as well as anything else they need.
“Trish was very punctual for the meet and greet as well as the walks . She was very communicative. We have been trying to find a walker that worked well with Marlin and Trish is it ! We loved all the pictures.”

“This was the second time we've hired Tyasia to come and drop-in on our pup and bring him outside in the backyard. Tanky is always so happy when Tyasia has come by. Don't hesitate to choose Tyasia, your animals will thank you :~)”

“Erin really did me a "solid" and was able to watch my kitties last minute for the holidays. Always kept me up-to-date on visits and also provided some very cute pics during the visits.”

Astrid was so so wonderful -- incredibly prompt responses, incredibly kind, very thorough care-taking, and I've never seen my cats warm up to someone so quickly! Good vibes all around, and I feel like my cats are sad that I'm back and not Astrid hahaha. Sadly I'm moving states soon for my job, but if I weren't I would be re-booking Astrid every single time!!

Layla took great care of our cat Mosey. She was very attentive and gave great, detailed notes on how Mosey was doing. Layla communicated with us throughout the week we were gone and our cat kitty was very happy with Layla’s company. I definitely recommend Layla for pet care.

Erica watched our cat Kot for 2 weeks with daily home visits and she was fantastic. We got photo updates after every visit, and it was so clear she genuinely loves cats. Kot’s warmed up to Erica fast — we even got pictures of him playing! Erica got to our cat new toys that he loves! Litter, food, and water were always taken care of, and she kept our home tidy. Coming back to a calm, happy Kot made our trip so much easier. We’ll definitely ask Erica again next time we travel.

We really appreciate Sarah being able to drop in on our cats with very short notice due to an emergency trip we had to take. Our kitties took to Sarah right away even though they have shied away from strangers before. I hope Sarah won't be a stranger to them for long because we will definitely request her as a sitter for any future trips we will take.

This is the second time Maria has looked over our cat Lucy for us for a few days and she was just as wonderful this time as she was the last time. She’s very caring and gives Lucy the love and attention she needs while she is home alone. We will for sure trust her again to take care of our Lucy when needed.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Beltsville. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
