“Layla is AWESOME SAUCE!! My kitties are typically "anti-humam other than mommy", but one of my kitties actually made contact with her several times. Layla is very sweet, she's observant, she's thoughtful, she's polite, and she genuinely loves and cares for animals. I'm so happy I was able to find her to look after my babies while I was away. I wasn't worried one bit because I knew she was dropping in on them while I was gone, and she took very good care of them!”

“Alexander did a great job visiting my puppy while I was away. He was timely, gentle and attentive when handling him. I appreciate the updates and extra help with cleaning up after my pup and I trusted that my dog was in great hands. Thanks!”

“Alexandra was incredible! She has great communication skills and truly loved my cat like I would when I was away! She is now my go to sitter. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my little baby girl ❤️”

“Karleigh took our drop in request on short notice and was super responsive and flexible throughout the week. We felt very confident leaving our cat in her care and she went above and beyond to make sure we came back to a clean house and a happy cat.”

“Erica, we want to thank you so much for taking excellent care of our 4 cats. Erica was checking in on our cats twice daily for the week we were on vacation. She arrived right on schedule each day and fed and cared for our cats, and before checkout sent pictures from each visit. When we arrived home our pets were happy and well cared for, thanks to Erica. I highly recommend Erica to anyone who is looking for a reliable, honest and trustworthy caretaker for your pets.”

“Matilda left everything in fantastic shape and took wonderful care of Milo. She even filled our bird feeders - which is such good entertainment for Milo! She is always very thoughtful and informative about her visits.”

About: I've loved animals my whole life, back to the days of summer camp at the National Zoo. I've walked many different dogs through watching friends' and neighbors' pets and volunteering at local animal shelters. I'm also a cat lover who has had cats in the house my whole life, and I even have some experience with pet fish! Animals of all sizes and personalities will be well-loved when spending time with me. :) Added bonus: I'm an excellent pet photographer, so I promise I'll get your furry friend's best side! I'm on summer break from school starting June 19, 2026, so I'll be available most days (including daytime, evenings, and weekends) unless I'm traveling! Before then, I'm available evenings and weekends. My priority is making sure your pet is safe and feels safe with me. I will always ensure your animal has food and water, bathroom access, and protection from other animals. I'm happy to accommodate any pet-specific concerns, too -- I have lots of experience with reactive dogs and will discuss your pet's needs before I spend time with them. I'm committed to spending as much time as needed making sure an animal feels comfortable with me.
About: I have a passion for animals, especially dogs I have had experience with pets for a couple of years and will be sure to take care of your fur babies. I can currently care for your cherished pet between 6-11:30 on the weekdays and anytime during weekends as long as you give me a little notice I will give your pups my full undivided attention and all the care they need you can trust they’ll be well taken care of when you leave them with me
“Mariela accepted my dog visit bookings on short notice over the 4th of July weekend and took great care of them. She followed my instructions expertly and sent me photos. I recommend her 10/10!”

“Brian is awesome. My cat seemed happier than usual when I returned home from a week's vacation - Brian took the time to play with him and even clean up the litter he tracks all over the place. I highly recommend him!”

“Maria was so wonderful with our cat Lucy. Lucy is a bit shy but I could tell from the pictures and videos Maria sent me daily that Lucy was comfortable and having a a great time with Maria’s company. Maria was very reliable and even showed up for us on Thanksgiving Day. She sent me a report every day to let me know how the visit went and how Lucy was doing. We hate leaving our Lucy alone for a few days but it was a great comfort to know she was taken such great care of by Maria while my daughter had to go out of town. I will definitely use Maria again if we need a pet sitter in the future and I’m so grateful for her wonderful care of our sweet Lucy.”

“Carla is great! It didn't matter that we booked at the last minute, or that the weather was really lousy while we were out, she kept our kitties nice and happy day after day, and always on schedule ? This was also the first time I've hired a cat sitter, everything from booking till the last day of kitty sitting went smoothly. Would recommend!”

“There is no better pet sitter in Greenbelt than Megan! She is attentive, thoughtful, and makes sure your oet is cared for in only the best way. She is my first go-to for all bookings and should be yours too!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, piranha, bunnies, turtles and rodents, etc! I have always loved and seen animals as the more primal side of our nature but that’s one of the purest forms of love that one can give! I am currently working full time at NIH, and after about 3:30pm, I work with animals around my community. Weekends I like to volunteer with people struggling with bigger dogs and temperament issues. Walking and leash training is key in my experience. I have a big yard for good time and to keep them safe! I love being outside, and making sure that the animals are safe while doing so is of the utmost importance to me !
About: I work as an assistant manager at Preston’s Country Club for Pets, supporting daily kennel operations. What sets me apart is the experienced, attentive care I give every pet. I take time to learn their personality, routines, and comfort needs, with hands-on experience caring for puppies, senior pets, and providing gentle medication support. I am currently attending University of Maryland, however I only have class for few hours a day. My schedule for classes are Mondays/Wednesdays 9-11:30 and Tuesdays/Thursdays 10- 12:30. I care for pets in my client’s home by following their established routines to keep pets comfortable and stress free. This includes feeding according to instructions, providing fresh water, walks or exercise, playtime, medication if needed, and plenty of attention and affection. I also maintain the home by cleaning up after pets, keeping food and litter areas tidy, and sending regular updates and photos so owners feel confident their pets are well cared for while they’re away.
“I hired a Rover sitter but at the last moment they were unable to do the job. Rover helped me identify Nicholas as a good candidate. We had very little time to make any arrangements or explain what to do. He handled it all and I had no worries. I will definitely use him again!”

“Adrian was patient and understanding to help our dog get used to her on the first meeting. We were very appreciative! Adrian is also reliable and communicates well. We're looking forward to having her care for Nala regularly.”

About: I've always wanted a dog but I never got a chance to have one growing up since my mom was allergic. Now that I have my own place I've realized that my true passion is taking care of other people’s dogs. I have my own reliable transportation and would be able to drop in for visits or walks. I am currently working full time in healthcare. The days I work vary but I do work 12 hour days 3 times a week. If one or more of the days you are requesting falls on one of my work days, your pet would have to be okay going without a bathroom break for up to 8 hours (I have a family member at home that would be able to take your pet for a walk while I am working). For boarding I live in a one bedroom townhouse with a fenced yard that is away from the main road. If you would like to board your pet with me, I will still be respectful of all the rules/boundaries you have for your pet at home (not allowed on the furniture, no people food, etc).

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Greenbelt
Astrid was so so wonderful -- incredibly prompt responses, incredibly kind, very thorough care-taking, and I've never seen my cats warm up to someone so quickly! Good vibes all around, and I feel like my cats are sad that I'm back and not Astrid hahaha. Sadly I'm moving states soon for my job, but if I weren't I would be re-booking Astrid every single time!!

Layla took great care of our cat Mosey. She was very attentive and gave great, detailed notes on how Mosey was doing. Layla communicated with us throughout the week we were gone and our cat kitty was very happy with Layla’s company. I definitely recommend Layla for pet care.

We really appreciate Sarah being able to drop in on our cats with very short notice due to an emergency trip we had to take. Our kitties took to Sarah right away even though they have shied away from strangers before. I hope Sarah won't be a stranger to them for long because we will definitely request her as a sitter for any future trips we will take.

Ashley was absolutely amazing! Our cat, Smokie, can be pretty shy with new people, but Ashley connected with her so beautifully. By the second or third day, Smokie was more playful and even excited to see her when she came by. Ashley gave us thorough updates, photos, and thoughtful check-ins that really put us at ease. The way she tuned into Smokie’s needs and her gentle, attentive approach made all the difference. We highly recommend Ashley to anyone looking for a caring and reliable cat sitter. We will definitely be using her again!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Greenbelt. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
