“I cannot recommend Iris highly enough! She was so kind and patient with my timid pup. She took extra time to make sure my dog was comfortable and cared for. My dog really enjoyed her visit with Iris and I loved working with her. I look forward to booking her again!”

“Amy did a fabulous job with our dogs! She was very considerate of their needs, especially during a few thunderstorms that passed through. She sent lots of pictures and helpful updates. We felt very comfortable with how our dogs were cared for during our vacation. It helped us fully relax and enjoy our time away!”

“Megan looked after our cat, Kitz, for nearly 3 weeks while we went home. She did a super job looking after her: feeding, scooping litter, caring and playing. She also watered our plants. Megan provided great updates that left us feeling confident that Kitz was doing well. I would strongly recommend Megan and if we go away again I'll definitely ask for her help again.”
“Erica does an amazing job taking care of my cat! My cat has medical issues and requires oral medication (swallows pill whole) and has many supplements that have to be added to her food. Erica handled it all with care and confidence. Erica is also extremely responsive and didn't bat an eye when I handed her my crazy cat lady binder full of detailed instructions, which immediately put me at ease. It gave me so much peace of mind to know my cat was in such capable hands while away. I highly recommend Erica!”

“Your fur baby will be well looked after of with Daniela. She is very caring, thoughtful and has excellent communication and follow through. My dog fell in love with her. I was able to go out of town and feel confident that my girl was in good hands!”

“Lilla was great for visiting with my two pups! She was flexible and quick to respond when I needed a sitter due to unexpected trip to attend a funeral. She communicated well and provided me pictures of her visits. She even cleaned up after one of my pups when she got sick in the house. I’d recommend her and will use her again. Thank you, Lilla, and sorry about the pup mess!”

“Kristina, was above and beyond with Max! This was our first time leaving Max with someone else and I loved the great communication, pictures, and I felt at ease with her work! Thank you for everything!!”

“Ashley was amazing! She took such good care of my cat, Minnie, while I was gone for a week, giving her lots of attention and love (and snacks), and I appreciated all the pictures I got too 🥰”

“Camila is the best! Not only is she an amazing and thoughtful pet sitter, but she also takes the time to do extra things like grab packages and clean around pet areas!”

“Keaton is truly a great cat sitter that I cannot recommend enough to others! Whether it's communication, attention to detail, taking photos/videos, or their natural ability to work with kitties, Keaton excelled in every aspect.”

“Sharmily took care of our 2 kitties and she did an amazing job! She is very responsible. Our kitties were happy to see her everyday. She had to administer meds by mouth to one kitty and did a great job with that. Sent pictures everyday which made us so happy!!! We will definitely ask her to come back again when we go out of town.”

About: We grew up with dogs and love having them around. We enjoy opening up our home and taking care of some furry friends and have a ton of experience dog sitting. We foster dogs through a local rescue, so we're confident any DC dog could be comfortable in our home. We have a 4 year old lab mix who likes to host playmates, but is also respectful of dogs' space if they prefer to have a leisurely stay with us. We're able to work on any training and will crate your dog upon request, or give them access to roam depending on your preference! Most importantly, we have experience handling behavior issues like leash reactivity and separation anxiety, please mention those when booking so we can be prepared to make your dog feel the most comfortable they can when they're away from home. We understand that leash reactivity and dog aggression are different, so while we can sit for a dog that's leash reactive, we unfortunately cannot host a dog that is dog aggressive. If there are any training methods you've been working on with your dog, let us know, and we'd be happy to ensure we are reinforcing the training you've been working on with your dog. Please note: dog-boarding does not mean we will be home 100% of the time and we are happy to discuss your expectations and our boarding set up. For boarding (half days may result in an additional fee. example: saturday 8am drop off and a sunday 10pm pick up is 1.5 days). We can be flexible knowing that delays can happen when traveling!

Izcali did an amazing job checking in on my two kitties while I was away!! Every day she sent amazing photos and she made sure they were well taken care of :) she played with them every day and when we came home the cats were healthy and happy. I had such peace of mind leaving the cats in Izcali’s care and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible and caring pet sitter

Erica did a great job taking care of our Lucy while we were gone for five days. She was reliable and showed up every day, twice a day to care for Lucy and always sent us pictures and updates. I would greatly recommend her and trust her again to care for Lucy.

I can't recommend her enough! She took such wonderful care of my two cats while I was away. She was incredibly responsible, reliable, and attentive throughout the entire time. She also kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my cats, not just completing the job. When I came home, my cats were happy, healthy, and well taken care of. I truly appreciate all of her hard work and kindness. I would absolutely trust her with my cats again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring pet sitter!

We really appreciate Sarah being able to drop in on our cats with very short notice due to an emergency trip we had to take. Our kitties took to Sarah right away even though they have shied away from strangers before. I hope Sarah won't be a stranger to them for long because we will definitely request her as a sitter for any future trips we will take.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Riverdale. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
