“Asha did a great job taking care of my cat Shiro! We had her do overnight in home care taking and she did an amazing job. Followed all instructions to the T, kept my place tidy and Shiro was well cared for. He takes his time getting used to new pet sitters however he did end up cuddling with Asha near the end of her visit. She also kept me regularly updated with pictures and a quick summary!”

“Katherine is the best dog sitter we have ever had. She connected with our dog Peanut immediately. We felt very comfortable leaving Peanut with her. Katherine consistently updated us with pictures and information about our precious dog on a daily basis. It helped make our vacation special, knowing that our dog Peanut was in great hands. I will definitely use her again. She deserves a 5 star rating.”

“Karleigh was great with our boy. She sent plenty of photos and wasn't afraid to ask any questions that came up during the booking. Very communicative and Hunter definitely had a good time with her!”

“Sometimes you’ll only know if the Sitter was great by how the dogs react when you walk through the door. I’m happy to say that after being gone on vacation, I came home to two very calm and happy dogs. In the past, I’ve had sitters where when I’ve come home the dogs were uneasy and full of anxiety. So it’s really important to know that the dogs are calm and we’re not stressed out while we were gone. It takes a dog person to be able to give this kind of love. I’m so thankful.”

“Paola was an outstanding pet sitter for our (anxious) dog. She went out of her way to care for her, treating a problem area and working with us intensely to find the best solutions. I cannot say enough heartfelt good things about Paola.”

“Nya was terrific. Would 10 out of 10 recommend Nya and will be using Nya to watch our dog again. Nya took our dog for runs around the neighborhood, provided timely updates and made sure our dog was safe and happy the entire time.”

“Cameron is such an amazing dog sitter/walker/handler! His interactions with my skittish dog has left her feeling loved and secure while in his care. Cameron is prompt with communication and very professional in all his interactions. He was flexible when we had to change our departure time due to longer TSA check in time. He followed instructions in caring for Storm and left the house immaculate. I was impressed he put the sheets and towels down the laundry shoot, I definitely didn't expect him to do that. He even remembered to leave the light on in the living room because I was returning late. If you're looking for a dog walker or sitter, don't hesitate to hire Cameron.”

About: Individual with a BS degree in animal science who loves animals of all kinds and would love to keep your furry family members as happy, active, and healthy as possible while you are away! I have over 1000 hours working with animals in all aspects from basic husbandry and pet sitting to veterinary clinical care! I work at an animal hospital/daycare/boarding facility full time, so my availability for mid-day services such as walks or drop in visits would be limited to my days off (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Due to my busy schedule working a full time job at a veterinary clinic, my services are best suited to individual walks or drop in visits, or sitting for pets that are able to be left alone for 8+ hours at a time.
“Great sitter! He stayed full-time for 6 days, took excellent care of our two dogs (including administering meds), and went above and beyond helping with things around the house. We came home to a happy pups and everything in great shape. Highly recommend!”

“Tristen is hands-down the best pet sitter we’ve ever had. It is incredibly hard to find someone you trust completely with your animals, but Tristen makes it easy. They are super dependable, detail-oriented, and excellent at keeping us updated while we’re away. It is such a relief to travel knowing the crew isn't just being taken care of, but truly loved. Our pets absolutely adore Tristen, and we’ll definitely be keeping them on speed dial. If you want someone responsible and genuinely sweet, look no further.”

“Madeline was AMAZING with our dog and cat. She was responsive when messaging. She kept us updated with photos and messages. We returned to a spotless house and happy pets.”

About: I have been petsitting, house sitting, cat sitting, and farm sitting since Rover was DogVacay, but actually since I was a child caring for my neighbors pets and horses. My dog Quill is around 8 years old and gets along with almost everyone. No one is perfect. That's why I ask that you allow enough time to schedule a Meet-N-Greet so we know your dog, my dog, and I are a good fit. I do not accept dogs that are not spayed or neutered. Sorry:( I am skilled at giving pills, liquid oral medications, and subcutaneous shots. (think diabetics and thyroid disease for cats) We have taken in a family member's cat in the past year. She is the queen of the household and is not intimidated by most dogs as long as they are not aggressive toward her. I can do drop in visits for cats, reptiles, and birds as needed. I do accept reptiles and birds into my home as well. My Husband and Stepson enjoy all the animals that come and go. I am working full time until June 17th, therefore I only accept dogs on the weekends until school is out. I just updated my summer schedule so there are more opportunities for walks, house sitting, and cat drop ins. I have a fenced patio that the dogs enjoy hanging out on. I do not have a yard, but my Condo is very large and there is plenty of room for the dogs to play and take breaks from each other. I do not take dogs off leash unless I know the dog very well and we are in a safe area such at the dog park or dog beach. I will only take your dog on excursions with your permission. My dog loves to go to the farm and the dog beach, but that's not for everyone. ;)

About: I have been caring for dogs since the age of 11, starting with my own pets. I also briefly worked in a dog grooming salon. I love walking and animals! I am a full-time student who has a lot of time on her hands! I am available after before and after work. Available anytime on the weekends as well. I am happy to do thorough research to ensure your pet's specific needs are met and they receive the best possible care. Rest assured that I will go above and beyond to make sure your beloved pet receives the utmost care and attention. I will take the time to carefully research your pet's unique needs and preferences in order to provide tailored care that meets their individual requirements. You can trust me to provide your furry friend with the best possible care, always.
“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“Aliyah watched my four pets (2 cats and 2 dogs) for 6 days while I was out of state and she was amazing! Some of my pets are elderly and have some medical issues. Aliyah followed all my instructions and went above and beyond when there was a little bit of an issue towards the end of the vacation (just dogs being dogs, nothing Aliyah did wrong or could have prevented). I will absolutely utilize her services as long as she offers them!”

About: I have had pets my whole life (many cats and a dog—as well as a few reptiles) and have experience looking after both cats and dogs. I currently have one cat named Hildegard (I can spend way too long talking about her) and grew up having four cats in the house! I do not currently have a dog and I would love to spend time taking care of yours! I have flexible availability and will always check in/update the owner as much as they would like. I am a grad student, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I do research and go to libraries during the day when they're open, but aside from that my schedule is pretty open. If there is an issue with scheduling I'm usually able to move things around to make it work and happy to work with you to figure out the best plan for you and your pet(s)! I always check in with the owner if anything comes up and will make sure to send you updates as much as you'd like. I have experience caring for animals and always try my best to read their body language to make sure they're happy and feel safe.
“Maria was so great! I loved that she wanted to do a meet and greet beforehand. I can tell Shiloh was well taken care of. Even when I got a little worried, she was able to quickly reassure me. I definitely plan on booking her again for my future trips if she’ll have us :)”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Greenbelt
Asha was absolutely wonderful with our big guy, Ollie. She provided detailed updates, took care of him when he was scared during holiday fireworks, and walked him in between some pretty intense weather events. We felt totally comfortable on vacation knowing that Asha was there!

Sean was absolutely fantastic! He watched our two Goldendoodles, Leo and Milo, for a full week and did an amazing job taking care of both the dogs and our home. He was extremely communicative throughout the entire stay, sent us regular pictures and updates, and always made sure to ask if there was anything else he could do to help while we were away. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for dogs and a house that was in great shape. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Leo and Milo were in good hands while we were gone. We would absolutely trust Sean to watch them again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and thoughtful sitter!

Don't be put off by her young age - Karleigh is mature beyond her years. She handled our elderly dogs incontinence issues with aplomb, kept us up-to-date, sent pictures and videos, and asked all the right questions. We will absolutely hire her again, when/if the need presents itself.

Daniel continues to provide peace of mind that our dog Zoe and our home are in great hands, allowing us to actually relax on our vacation. Even with more challenging medication and dietary needs this go around, everything was handled with the same professionalism as always.

FAQs for House Sitting - Greenbelt
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Greenbelt on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 11,337 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Greenbelt. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Greenbelt walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Greenbelt maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Greenbelt choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Greenbelt. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
