Asha did a great job taking care of my cat Shiro! We had her do overnight in home care taking and she did an amazing job. Followed all instructions to the T, kept my place tidy and Shiro was well cared for. He takes his time getting used to new pet sitters however he did end up cuddling with Asha near the end of her visit. She also kept me regularly updated with pictures and a quick summary!

Kat is absolutely wonderful! She's amazing with the animals, super responsive, and just really friendly and helpful. She was very thorough, she sent us lots of pictures, and she let the animals snuggle with her in bed, even comforting our terrified pup through a couple of summer thunderstorms. We will definitely book again.

Nicole stayed at our place to watch our cat for almost two weeks and did a fantastic job! She was responsive and checked in regularly, and we came home to a happy cat. Our cat is very social and needs a lot of interaction and playtime, and it gave us peace of mind knowing Nicole was looking after him. Plus she took great care of our house and kept our plants alive. We’ll happily call on her again to take care of our cat when we’re out of town!

About: I have over 15 years of experience pet sitting for family and friends. I’ve stayed overnight with senior dogs who need strict medical care and I’ve also helped medically foster newborn kittens with severe infections from my local animal shelter. I love all animals— so much so that I left my previous office job to work at a dog daycare for about 3 years. I can orchestrate play groups between dogs and provide spa services (down to blueberry facials!). I’ve worked with hundreds of dogs in my time working at dog day care and I know basic first aid for dogs. However, I’m not just a dog person— I also have 8 cats! 3 of them were my previous medical fosters! I’m in the process of earning my pet CPR license as well. I’m great at matching pets' energy, be it puppies and kittens to old furry friends. You could say I'm an animal's best friend! I wanted to take a moment to recognize someone truly special Kimberly, who cares for the animals. Her dedication, patience, and genuine love for the dogs do not go unnoticed. Every time I see her interacting with the animals, it’s clear that she treats each one as if they were her own. That kind of compassion and attentiveness is something very rare and incredibly valuable in a place that cares for our beloved pets. Kimberly goes above and beyond to ensure the dogs feel safe, happy, and well cared for. Her work ethic, kindness, and natural ability with animals truly stand out. Even though she may not be the owner, she carries herself with the professionalism and leadership of someone who could easily be in a managerial role. It would be amazing to see more people in this field embody the same level of care and dedication she shows every day. She is a wonderful example of what excellent animal care looks like. Thank you, Kimberly, for all that you do for our furry family members. They are lucky to have you! 🐶❤️ I’m available Monday-Thursday from 5 AM-7PM. I can also do the occasional weekend! I’m disabled so my schedule is flexible and I don’t mind long drives! I used to work in the medical field so I’m incredibly detail-oriented. Written care instructions are best. I’ve administered many different kinds of medications for pets, but I cannot do shots. I’d be happy to bathe and groom your pet, however, I do not cut hair.

John is, as always, a great pup / house sitter. John helped with letting me know some trouble spots in my fence line for my jumpy pup which I was able to reinforce and it did the trick. I would highly recommend John to stay in anyone's home to watch the pups. Thanks again!

I almost hate to write a great review for Haley because I want to keep her for myself! She has been flexible and accommodating to our crazy schedule. She communicates with us daily - sends pictures and keeps us updated. Haley has dog sat for us for several times - she spends lots of time with our pups. They always are excited when she arrives. Haley recently sat for us when we were "off the grid" and she communicated regularly with our family - she helped us feel at ease. I highly recommend her - but don't book her too often- I need her for me! Thanks Haley - you're the best!

About: Individual with a BS degree in animal science who loves animals of all kinds and would love to keep your furry family members as happy, active, and healthy as possible while you are away! I have over 1000 hours working with animals in all aspects from basic husbandry and pet sitting to veterinary clinical care! Due to my busy schedule working a full time job at a veterinary clinic, my services are best suited to individual walks or drop in visits on my days off (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays), or sitting for pets that are able to be left alone for 9+ hours at a time. I do not have any pets of my own and am child free, so I can easily provide overnight pet sitting for clients if they would prefer rather than just being present during the day.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the real-world experience I bring from living and working with dogs every day. I’ve raised and trained a variety of breeds, including high-drive working dogs like Dobermans and a Donovan Pinscher, and I currently share my home with three dogs and a cat. My dogs are actively involved in dog sports. Giving me a strong foundation in obedience, structure, and engagement. I understand how to meet each dog where they are—whether it’s a playful puppy needing boundaries or a senior dog requiring calm, attentive care. I take a thoughtful, balanced approach with every dog I care for, focusing on clear communication, calm energy, and consistency. My experience allows me to confidently handle dogs with different needs and personalities, and I always prioritize their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being. Whether you’re looking for someone to reinforce good habits, provide mental stimulation, or simply give your pet a safe, peaceful break from home, I offer more than basic care—I bring a lifestyle built around respect, trust, and a genuine love for animals. Pet care fits naturally into my work schedule because it’s already a central part of my daily life and routine. Caring for animals isn’t something I squeeze in—it’s something I’ve built my lifestyle around. With experience raising and training multiple dogs, including high-drive working breeds, I’m used to managing feeding times, structured exercise, training sessions, and downtime throughout the day. My schedule is intentionally designed to support the physical and emotional needs of the animals in my care, allowing me to provide reliable, consistent attention without it ever feeling rushed or secondary. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm, structured environment. In my home, I maintain clear routines, supervise all interactions, and ensure every animal has their own space and comfort. When in your home, I follow your pet’s routine closely, respect their space, and provide consistent, attentive care. I read body language carefully, move at your pet’s pace, and focus on building trust through calm, confident handling. Your pet’s well-being is always my top priority, no matter the setting.

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and cats and have learned how to care, play, and communicate with them through a lifetime of caring for them in my own home. I’ve come to love their little personalities, every pet a distinct individual. I also have experience working in a local pet store and know a great deal about nutrition and treats for pets. I can walk, check in on, or sit for your pet while you’re away in a safe, trustworthy manner. Dogs of all sizes as well as cats are welcome! I hope you’ll consider me today! I’m a full time college student, so my schedule is very flexible. I am most available in the summer and winter, but during the semester I’ll have plenty of time fri-sun and later availability mon-thur! I am able to control rowdy/excited animals on walks and have extensive knowledge in pet diet restrictions. Pet care may seem simple, but I take their safety and security very seriously. If anything unusual happens, you’ll be notified straight away.

Anh was amazing with Pico. She jumped in last minute and handled everything so thoughtfully - including some unexpected tummy issues and his occasional puppy chaos. She kept me fully updated the whole time and sent lots of great photos, which I really appreciated. It made such a difference being able to see how he was doing. Pico is used to being with me all the time, so social interaction is really important for him. Anh adjusted to Pico’s needs and routine and also made him part of hers - giving him so much extra love and attention. You can’t always guarantee that level of care when you’re away, and I’m so grateful I never had to worry. I would absolutely recommend Anh to anyone without hesitation!

About: My next door neighbor had me take care of their dog, Brownie. He was an old man, but still a good boy! I would make drop-in visits to make sure he was fed and given his medicine which he did such a good job with taking it around me, and I would also take him outside for bathroom breaks. Milo was another dog I took care of recently, and unlike Brownie, she was young, and also loud just like any other husky, but similar to Brownie, she was good girl. This time she had to live with me at my house, but she was no problem at all. I would take her outside at least two hours a day and give her walks around my neighborhood. I would also let her sleep on my bed and she'd wake me up by licking my face every morning to start the day. Feeding her wasn't a problem either. In fact, taking so much time out of my day to take care of just any other dog is never a problem for me! My recent pet care was for a Siberian Husky named Milo. After taking care of her cats, my sister asked me to take care of Milo for a friend who was away last December. Milo was a big dog, but she wasn't anything I had trouble handling. She was a fun and good girl, and I made sure she was taken outside every two hours of every day and also made sure she was given food and water and would refill both when I see that they're almost empty. Pet care comes first for me and I would take plenty of time out of my day to give pets the love and attention they need while family is away. I have a yard but it isn't fenced. However, I will be outside with your dog if they ever need to go, and keep an eye and/or leash on them if necessary. I did the same for my own dog, Macy. Unfortunately, my home doesn't have any other dogs that yours could socialize with since Macy passed away, but with me around, your baby should never feel alone! If I were to take care of your pet at your home (and if necessary), I could also tidy up the inside of your house to the point where I was never even there once you have come back from your trip.

Lauren was a great sitter for our energetic puppy. She arrived early and asked great questions. During our 5-day trip she sent twice daily updates and took great care of our home. Most importantly, she was a creative playmate and responsible caregiver for our dog. I wouldn’t hesitate to call on her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Glenn Dale on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 11,088 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Glenn Dale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glenn Dale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glenn Dale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glenn Dale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Glenn Dale. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
