Asha did a great job taking care of my cat Shiro! We had her do overnight in home care taking and she did an amazing job. Followed all instructions to the T, kept my place tidy and Shiro was well cared for. He takes his time getting used to new pet sitters however he did end up cuddling with Asha near the end of her visit. She also kept me regularly updated with pictures and a quick summary!

Chandler did a fantastic job watching our Maltipoo at our home while we were on vacation. She was with him for 11 nights. As others have mentioned, she leaves the house better than how we left it. I am a helicopter dog mom and I asked for lots of photos and updates before we left and she delivered. She is also witty and takes the best photos and provides g funny updates. We would use her again and again. .

About: Hello! My name is Teena! I’m a caring, responsible, and dependable pet sitter with 3 years of hands-on pet-sitting experience. I’ve cared for my friends’ cats, dogs, and even fish while they were away on vacation, helping with feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, companionship, and maintaining their normal routines. I’m especially passionate about making sure both cats and dogs receive the care and attention they need. I love taking dogs on walks, playing fetch, keeping them active, giving them potty breaks, and providing plenty of companionship so they don’t feel lonely while their owners are away. I also understand that every dog has a different personality and energy level, so I’m patient and attentive to their individual needs—whether they’re energetic and playful or more relaxed and affectionate. I genuinely love animals and don’t see pet sitting as simply a job. Whether it’s a long walk with your dog, playtime with your cat, a clean litter box, medication, or simply some extra love and companionship, I’m here to make sure your pets are in caring hands. I’ll treat your fur babies with kindness, patience, and plenty of love—because they deserve to feel right at home while you’re away! 🐾♥️ Pet care can easily fit into my daily and weekly routine because I’m currently available most days and have a flexible schedule. I’m happy to work around your schedule and adjust my availability based on your pet’s specific needs and routine. I’m comfortable with different types of schedules and responsibilities, whether your pet needs a quick potty break, a daily walk, multiple visits throughout the day, feeding at specific times, medication, playtime, or simply some extra companionship. The most important thing to me is communication. As long as I’m given clear and detailed instructions about your pet’s routine, needs, preferences, and what is expected of me, I’m happy to accommodate. Every pet is different, and I want to make sure I’m following your instructions so your pet can maintain as much of their normal routine as possible while you’re away. When caring for your pets in your home, my priority is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in their familiar environment. I’ll follow the routine and instructions you provide, including feeding, fresh water, walks, potty breaks, playtime, litter-box cleaning, medication, and any other specific care your pet needs. I’m very flexible and willing to accommodate different routines and requests. As long as I receive detailed instructions about what needs to be done and what you expect from me, I’m happy to follow them. I understand that you know your pet best, so I take your instructions seriously and do my best to keep their routine consistent. I’ll also make sure to be respectful of your home, keep your pet’s areas clean, and pay attention to how your pet is behaving throughout my visit. My goal is for you to feel comfortable knowing that your pet—and your home—are in responsible, caring hands while you’re away.

Cameron is such an amazing dog sitter/walker/handler! His interactions with my skittish dog has left her feeling loved and secure while in his care. Cameron is prompt with communication and very professional in all his interactions. He was flexible when we had to change our departure time due to longer TSA check in time. He followed instructions in caring for Storm and left the house immaculate. I was impressed he put the sheets and towels down the laundry shoot, I definitely didn't expect him to do that. He even remembered to leave the light on in the living room because I was returning late. If you're looking for a dog walker or sitter, don't hesitate to hire Cameron.

About: I have been petsitting, house sitting, cat sitting, and farm sitting since Rover was DogVacay, but actually since I was a child caring for my neighbors pets and horses. My dog Quill is around 8 years old and gets along with almost everyone. No one is perfect. That's why I ask that you allow enough time to schedule a Meet-N-Greet so we know your dog, my dog, and I are a good fit. I do not accept dogs that are not spayed or neutered. Sorry:( I am skilled at giving pills, liquid oral medications, and subcutaneous shots. (think diabetics and thyroid disease for cats) We have taken in a family member's cat in the past year. She is the queen of the household and is not intimidated by most dogs as long as they are not aggressive toward her. I can do drop in visits for cats, reptiles, and birds as needed. I do accept reptiles and birds into my home as well. My Husband and Stepson enjoy all the animals that come and go. I am working full time until June 17th, therefore I only accept dogs on the weekends until school is out. I just updated my summer schedule so there are more opportunities for walks, house sitting, and cat drop ins. I have a fenced patio that the dogs enjoy hanging out on. I do not have a yard, but my Condo is very large and there is plenty of room for the dogs to play and take breaks from each other. I do not take dogs off leash unless I know the dog very well and we are in a safe area such at the dog park or dog beach. I will only take your dog on excursions with your permission. My dog loves to go to the farm and the dog beach, but that's not for everyone. ;)

Tristen is hands-down the best pet sitter we’ve ever had. It is incredibly hard to find someone you trust completely with your animals, but Tristen makes it easy. They are super dependable, detail-oriented, and excellent at keeping us updated while we’re away. It is such a relief to travel knowing the crew isn't just being taken care of, but truly loved. Our pets absolutely adore Tristen, and we’ll definitely be keeping them on speed dial. If you want someone responsible and genuinely sweet, look no further.

Anh was amazing with Pico. She jumped in last minute and handled everything so thoughtfully - including some unexpected tummy issues and his occasional puppy chaos. She kept me fully updated the whole time and sent lots of great photos, which I really appreciated. It made such a difference being able to see how he was doing. Pico is used to being with me all the time, so social interaction is really important for him. Anh adjusted to Pico’s needs and routine and also made him part of hers - giving him so much extra love and attention. You can’t always guarantee that level of care when you’re away, and I’m so grateful I never had to worry. I would absolutely recommend Anh to anyone without hesitation!

About: We live in Colombia, South America for the school year and return home to the US during the summer and other school holidays to attend summer camp and visit friends and family. We are able to housesit small and medium dogs for one family at at time. We do not offer boarding services at this time but invite our boarding families to book us for housesitting. _____________________ With over 175 bookings in just two years and many repeat families, we’re proud to have earned Rover Star Sitter status—a reflection of our consistent care, reliability, and the trust our clients place in us. We specialize in small to medium-sized dogs, especially those with special needs due to age or temperament. Our experience spans the full spectrum of dog care—from energetic puppies to beloved senior companions. My journey as a dedicated dog caregiver began with my own Pomeranian, Chewy, who was part of our family for over 12 years. Through every stage of his life—puppy training, routine vet visits, managing health issues like dental care and kennel cough, and eventually learning the nuances of senior care—I gained invaluable hands-on experience. I understand how to provide attentive, compassionate care while maintaining structure and safety. Beyond my personal experience, I’m deeply attuned to dogs’ moods and behaviors, always alert to changes that might signal discomfort or illness. I also understand what pet parents look for, having used doggy daycare, boarding, and dog parks extensively myself. My daughter Layla, who grew up alongside Chewy, shares this same love and intuition for dogs. She’s a gentle, responsible helper with a natural ability to make dogs feel safe and loved. Together, we’ve cared for many neighborhood pets, and thanks to Rover, we’ve extended that care to families across our community. Layla likes to say our “superpower is love”—and that really sums it up. We offer your pups a safe, affectionate home away from home, where they’ll be treated like family every single day. We’re available for housesitting at and time but we do prefer earlier/daytime arrivals as it allows your pup/s to get acclimated while they are awake and alert. I work from home with a flexible schedule, which allows me to give our doggie guests plenty of attention and regular outdoor breaks, around Layla's activities. My daughter goes to school or camp during the day, but she enjoys walking and playing with our dog clients before and after school/camp, always under my supervision. Together, we make sure your pup feels loved, engaged, and part of our family routine. I also provide daily photo and message updates, so you always know how your pet is doing. We walk your pup/s on a leash at all times unless we have access to an enclosed yard. Generally, we prefer to crate overnight especially if this is your first time using Rover for dog sitting, but we can adapt as needed. Your pup will spend most of their day outside of their crate but perhaps, contained in a part of the house (e,g, watching tv in the sitting room or hanging in the kitchen while we prepare meals). We will try our best to incorporate their usual routine and preferences whenever possible. For puppies, we prefer to crate/contain in confined area.

About: I have been a lover of all animals for as far back as I can remember and have taken care of them both personally and professionally. I have been employed by zoos and aquariums, worked with tigers, made diets for birds of prey, and assisted Marine Biologists with shark tanks and coral reefs. My training has not just been in educating the public, but in positive reinforcements. Everything from dogs, cats, snakes, hedgehogs, frogs, and so many more have been in my care over the course of my life for one reason or another. I am my friends' go-to for anything they've ever been curious about when it comes to our natural world. And being a dog mom of two myself has been one of the most rewarding privileges I've been able to experience. Pet care for me is 24/7 for my own babies, but I am available Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and some Wednesdays for any and all services. My pupperonies have been crate trained by me, but for the most part free roam. They have designated areas for when the hoomans are out of the house where they are allowed to nap and play with their toys or each other. Both have been socialized and are respectful of the other dog in the home. Both dogs get 3 walks per day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening to ensure they are exercised as well as some off leash play in the yard. For clients, I am attentive to each animals’ needs and respectful of owner requests. It is important for me to get to know your fluffybutt as much as possible in order to provide optimal care.

FAQs for House Sitting - New Carrollton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in New Carrollton on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 11,228 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Carrollton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Carrollton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Carrollton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Carrollton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
