“Really great. Lots of pictures. Extremely responsive and good with the pets. House was immaculate (cleaner than I left it, which was unnecessary but very kind). Would definitely book again.”

“Zada was excellent at communicating with us throughout the time she watched Ursa. She sent so many great photos! She followed our care instructions well and was attentive to Ursa’s needs.”

“I would highly recommend Megan as a pet sitter. She took very good care of our pets and our house while we were away. It was obvious that she takes pride in her work and that she cares about the animals she is sitting for.”

“Jayne did a great job caring for my cats and dog while I was away for a week. They were happy and my place was left just as I left it (maybe even a little cleaner). I would definitely hire her again.”

“Alexandra was wonderful! She filled in with little notice when another person canceled on us. Alexandra was friendly, communicative and our dogs loved her! She put us at ease especially because this was only our second time using Rover and we had never left our dogs for this long before. I would absolutely recommend her and we definitely hope she will be available when we need her in the future.”

“Sharon was fantastic with our anxiety-ridden pit bull mix, Cookie. She snuggled with Cookie whenever she needed some extra TLC and made sure she got both a morning and an afternoon walk. From the moment we met Sharon, it was clear she has a natural bond with animals that is hard to define. She is easygoing, calm, and, most importantly, updates you daily with a brief summary and pictures of your pet. I would love to have her dog sit again and will definitely recommend her services to friends in the future!”

“Gabrielle was the perfect housesitter for our dog. They met with us ahead of time to walk through the house and meet our dog, showed up on time, gave frequent updates, walked our dog regularly, took fantastic care of our house and cleaned up after themselves, and were extremely communicative and responsive throughout our trip. We would definitely work with Gabrielle again and highly recommend them to others.”

“Kymberlee was an amazing dog sitter! She sent me updates via the app. Always on time with the potty training. Very kind and thoughtful. Luna loved her. Definitely will book again!”
“Stephanie is the best, truly an animal whisperer. She went above and beyond, giving me peace of mind. The cat and dog, each having never before interacted with the other species, spent a nice, peaceful, happy visit together thanks to Stephanie.”

“Betty was thoughtful, kind and responsible. She took great care of our pups and home. She was easing going and clearly holds a love of animals. We will be having Betty watch our fur babies again soon.”

“My senior dog has a lot of medical and behavioral needs, and it’s hard for me to feel comfortable leaving him with a sitter. With Bria, not only did she seem to understand and love my old man, but she used her vet tech skills to administer all of his meds and closely monitor his respiratory rate. She flagged a heart failure episode early and worked with my dog’s cardiologist over the phone to adjust his mediation dosage to ensure he was stable while I was in flight. Bria’s expertise, reliable communication and nurturing personality were a godsend for my dog and me. I would definitely rebook and trust her implicitly. Would highly recommend, especially to go above and beyond for dogs with special needs.”
“Sara was great with both our cat and our dog. She was responsive, and sent daily updates and pictures. Both of our pets seemed very happy in her care, and were healthy and happy when we got home. She followed all of our care instructions, and was very reliable. We would be happy to work with Sara again.”
“Nya was terrific. Would 10 out of 10 recommend Nya and will be using Nya to watch our dog again. Nya took our dog for runs around the neighborhood, provided timely updates and made sure our dog was safe and happy the entire time.”

“If you're looking for peace of mind when you are away and can't take your non-human family member, look no further. Alex is really wonderful. He's a smart, caring well informed guy who will "get" the nuances of your baby's needs and behaviors and is truly interested in knowing this and being responsive to them. My 7 year old Lab had never been left with anyone but a family member and Alex was the perfect substitute ! Happy to chat with you as well if you a verbal reference !”

“Marcus and his wife watched our dog and cat for almost two weeks. They did a phenomenal job taking care of them both. My dog is very attached to me, and gets a bit of separation anxiety when we are away, so I was worried. Marcus kept him busy and sent so many photos and I could tell he was happy! Our cat, who is a little diva, definitely liked them being at our house and they gave her just the right amount of attention. This is the first time I have done a house sitter for this amount of time and I would definitely book Marcus again, because I came home to two happy and healthy pets!”

“Madeline was absolutely phenomenal; super communicative, sent me updates of how things were going, and friendly. Most importantly, my dog was well taken care of and had a great time. Madeline truly went above and beyond in every way possible.”

“Kim is great with our 2 pups, one of which is very reactive. She takes the time to understand each dog's needs, continues their training while we are away, and sends some of the best daily updates!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Landover Hills
We have a senior dog & a puppy who both can be very particular & have tons of energy. They loved their time with Nia. She took great care of them as well as our home. Nia even came by to meet us & our fur babies before we went out of town. 10/10 experience & highly recommend her!

Crystina goes above & beyond for our pets and we’re always happy to leave them in her care. She sends lots of pictures and updates, is very attentive to the care instructions we leave for her, and we feel really confident that our dog and rabbit are in great hands with her!

Bryanna was great - very very kind and great with our two cats! She was able to help us a bit last minute and took all of our directions in stride. The cats really liked her and she took excellent care of them while we were away for almost a week. We needed drop in visits and I loved the photo updates she gave each time. She also was willing to look after our disabled gecko, so I highly recommend Bryanna if you also need someone to check in on your reptile!

Don't be put off by her young age - Karleigh is mature beyond her years. She handled our elderly dogs incontinence issues with aplomb, kept us up-to-date, sent pictures and videos, and asked all the right questions. We will absolutely hire her again, when/if the need presents itself.

Corraly did a FANTASTIC job caring for our sweet boy Prince and home while away for a week long vacation celebrating our 1st year marriage anniversary, and we could not have been more pleased with her services. This was our first time working with Corraly and she made a quick bond with Prince that clearly grew during the days they spent together. She texted daily updates and included lovely photos of their time spent together in our home and during long walks and was super responsive throughout her stay. We (including Prince) 100000% highly recommend Corraly and look forward to her future dogsitting stay 🤎 🖤

Javien is amazing! He stepped in to care for our dogs for a few days at our place with barely any notice. Our dogs adored him right away! He also handled our dog’s diabetic needs, including insulin injections. Plus, he kept us in the loop with updates all day. We felt so confident that our dogs were in good hands, even when we needed a sitter last minute. We’re definitely going to ask Javien again for future pet sitter needs! Thanks, Javien!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 11,191 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Landover Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Landover Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Landover Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Landover Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Landover Hills. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
