“Maura was absolutely wonderful with Duchess! This was my first time leaving Duchess home without me for several days, so I was definitely a little nervous, but Maura made the entire experience so much easier. She was attentive, spent quality time with her, took her on walks, and made sure she was comfortable and well cared for. I especially appreciated how consistent Maura was with sending updates and pictures and letting me know how Duchess was doing throughout the day. I would absolutely book with Maura again. I think Duchess may have officially found herself a new babysitter!”

“Giovanna was amazing!! Drako loved being visited by her, she was very communicative with us and made sure we got pictures and updates on a visit baisis! We felt so happy and comfortable that our dog was being taken care by her! Definitely would recommend her with anyone that needs his/her dog taking care of! We would definitely will be thinking of her if we need someone to take care of our dog! Thanks Giovanna!!”

About: I’ve been involved with pet care my whole life! I’ve volunteered at PAW here in Maryland and worked as a Pet-care Specialist, Dog walker, and Pet sitter for cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, fish, and other small pets. I am knowledgeable in administering medicine to pets, and understanding animal body language. I’m currently doing pet care full-time! When I’m not caring for my own pets, I’m always looking for ways to help people care for theirs! I currently only have weekday availability. I always approach pets with care and respect! I understand that it’s possible for pets to come from all types of backgrounds, and am committed to making your pets feel the most comfortable they can!
“Grace was wonderful! She watched our hyper 2-year-old dog while we were out of town for the weekend. We put our dog in good hands! Will definitely be using her again.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter! Nichole took amazing care of our 4-year-old cat, Tookie, during our week-and-a-half trip and truly went above and beyond in every way. Tookie is a long-haired cat, and she took the time to brush her regularly and keep her coat looking beautiful. She even cleaned her ears, which was such a kind thing to offer. Beyond caring for Tookie, she also watered our plants and looked after our home with great care. When our travel plans changed and we needed to come home early, she was incredibly flexible and accommodating, making the whole process completely stress-free. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about the pets and homes she’s entrusted with. We felt so comfortable knowing Tookie was in such capable hands. We 100% recommend Nichole to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and attentive pet sitter, and we absolutely hope to book with her again in the future!”

“Astrid is wonderful! She made us feel very comfortable to leave our cats with her. She would always go above and beyond and send us so many pictures. We will be booking with her again!”

“Trish was very punctual for the meet and greet as well as the walks . She was very communicative. We have been trying to find a walker that worked well with Marlin and Trish is it ! We loved all the pictures.”

“Coralie was an amazing sitter! She gave my baby so much love while I was gone, but also is well versed in cat behavior so knew to slow down playtime when my baby was getting overstimulated. I couldn’t get enough of my daily updates from her - great pictures and funny comment cards! I came back to a clean home and a very pleased cat. I look forward to booking Coralie again!”

“Erica did a great job taking care of our Lucy while we were gone for five days. She was reliable and showed up every day, twice a day to care for Lucy and always sent us pictures and updates. I would greatly recommend her and trust her again to care for Lucy.”

“Carla was great. I tend to be one of those pet mothers that is very anxious about leaving my dog with others, or even alone for extensive periods of time. I felt at ease this time around and each check-in was in a timely manner. Overall great experience with Carla!”

“We couldn't be happier with the professional and reliable care from Molly. She quickly connected with our massive, 130 pound dog Zeka, and made sure he received the exercise and mid-day bathroom break that he needed. Molly is very responsive and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend her.”

About: I’ve spent a lot of time caring for pets belonging to friends and people in my life. I regularly help care for my friends’ dogs by spending time with them, playing with them, and making sure they’re comfortable and safe. I also cared for a friend’s cat for about two years while they were away at college, making sure the cat was fed, had clean water, and received attention and care. I truly enjoy being around animals and understand that every pet has their own personality and needs. I’m patient, responsible, and committed to making sure pets feel safe and cared for while their owners are away. When it comes to house sitting, I’m naturally a calm and home oriented person who enjoys spending time in a quiet environment. I tend to stay in one place for long periods of time, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention and supervision while also keeping the home secure. I’m also someone who likes things to stay organized and clean, so I’m very mindful about respecting a client’s space and making sure everything remains in order while they’re away. My goal is always to make both the pets and their owners feel comfortable and at ease. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate consistent time and attention to the pets in my care. Since I’m able to adjust my routine, I can visit or stay at your home as needed to make sure your pets are comfortable, fed, and cared for while you’re away. I care for pets in their own home where they feel most comfortable and relaxed. I respect each client’s space and routine, making sure pets are fed on schedule, litter boxes or outdoor needs are handled, and everything stays clean and organized while you’re away.

About: Hi! My name is Hannah and I am a college student paying my way through school. I have two cats and I’ve also cared for family and friend’s pets. I can complete walks, simple grooming, meals, and activities. I’m currently a full time student , but I am available for you and your family anytime on weekends or after 3pm on Thursdays! I am dedicated to caring for your pets and providing them with adequate attention. I believe in meeting animals where they are. I try to establish trust initially so that their comfort is a priority. I am open to any stipulations or accommodations that they may need at any time.
“Maria was so wonderful with our cat Lucy. Lucy is a bit shy but I could tell from the pictures and videos Maria sent me daily that Lucy was comfortable and having a a great time with Maria’s company. Maria was very reliable and even showed up for us on Thanksgiving Day. She sent me a report every day to let me know how the visit went and how Lucy was doing. We hate leaving our Lucy alone for a few days but it was a great comfort to know she was taken such great care of by Maria while my daughter had to go out of town. I will definitely use Maria again if we need a pet sitter in the future and I’m so grateful for her wonderful care of our sweet Lucy.”

“Sophie was amazing with my two cats! Both are rescues with their own unique quirks, and Sophie took it all in stride and provided incredible care. She communicated clearly and often, so I was never worried. Highly recommend!”

About: I am a Biologist and have always been interested and passionate about animals and other organisms. I became the only vegetarian/vegan in my family at age 12 due to my love for animals and have been vegetarian for over 15 years now. I am new to Rover, but not new to pet sitting. Growing up, my mother was mostly afraid of cats and dogs. In fact, we had tortoises, fish, and even birds growing up in the family. This never shyed me from getting to know furry animals, and doing pet care. Most of my pet time with my friends pets and their families! I have always loved the chance to get to know pets and develop relationships with the furry animals. I am a frequent dog and cat sitter to many people in Washington DC. Back around 2017, when I did babysitting for a family with 2 little girls in Olney, I watched their grey cat named George! I have pet sat for several friends during their vacations. I took care of a family of 2 pitbulls and 1 beagle, the 3 musketeers. I also did cat sitting for house with 3 cats all with different personalities, Chairman Meow, Simon, and Beckett. UPDATE: recently laid off so my availability is OPEN + FLEXIBLE TIMING, especially evenings - i can walk dogs a few times a day. depending on what you need. i can cat sit for several days at a time for your vacations, and secure a longterm sit term. I typically 9-5 M-F and commute through traffic, so I can typically get to the house in the morning before work and then later again around 6p to feed, play, and take care of litter. I can return in the morning for breakfast if applicable. Flexible night and weekends. I prefere to do long term sits for your vacations. I live in an apartment and can do most pet sitting at the owners home. This is how I do cat sitting for long term stays at the owners home. When I first get a sitting gig it is best to start at the owners home where the pet is comfortable and happy! Later on after the pet knows me, it is opssible that they can come to my apartment. This apartment does not have fencing, but is in a neighborhood with huge trails for walking. The dogs would be on a leash when outside with me. I live along Sligo creek, Takoma Park where there are miles and miles of trails to do walking.
About: Animals of all shapes and sizes have always been part of my life. Growing up, I had two lovely cats and volunteered regularly at a horse rescue sanctuary. After college, I worked for the Humane Society, where I looked after dogs and horses with varying levels of care needs. I regularly dog-sit for an Australian cattle dog, and I'm honored to be one of only a few people with whom she agrees to go for walks. I also regularly pet-sit for a household with two dogs and two cats. I am experienced in accommodating specialized feeding and medication protocols for puppies, senior dogs, and all ages in between, as well as for adult cats. I'm skilled at understanding animal body language and behavioral cues. I care deeply about my relationships with animals, and I do my best to ensure that every pet feels safe, respected, and loved. I have a good amount of flexibility in my schedule. I am typically available before 9 AM and between 2 PM and 7 PM. I am also available for overnight home stays. Maintaining safety and establishing trust (of both the pet and the humans) are priorities for me when I care for pets in a client's home. I am always aware that I am a guest in their home, and I keep the space clean and secure. I avoid moving things or changing established routines. I do my best to maintain the pet's sense of normalcy and comfort while their people are away.
About: I love pets! I have experience house/dog sitting for clients that have taken vacations of up to 15 days. While house sitting, I can also bring in mail and water plants. In the past, I have been able to watch up to 2 dogs at a time. I love the exercise that comes from walking dogs, and I welcome dogs that have both high and low energy levels. When given specific instructions about caring for someone's dog, I always follow them, never letting my previous experience and "what I usually do" come before meeting the expectations of my clients. I have lived with at least one dog as a pet for 18 years of my life. Let me take care of your dog and be an extension of your love towards them when you cannot be there. I have graduate school classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but I am free for pet care outside of those hours. I am flexible to work around your schedule. I’ve house sat and taken care of cats and dogs while I’ve lived in the house. I’ve also stopped by house periodically to walk dogs and feed them. I’m open to both methods.

Joe took wonderful care of our cat Sunday. He sent so many amazing photos and bonded with our weird cat pretty quickly. He checked in each day with us daily to let us know how our cat was doing. He’s very responsive and very responsible and we really appreciate the fact that we have someone to trust with our cat. Thanks Joe.

Nichole is a wonderful pet sitter! Our pets were well cared for and we had complete peace of mind while we were away. Great communication, dependable, and clearly someone who genuinely loves animals. We came home to happy, well-loved pets! We will absolutely book Nichole again next time we’re away.

Virginia took excellent care of Louis while we were out of town for 10 days. We were so happy to come back to a healthy happy cat and clean house - he had no accidents! Virginia went above and beyond to care for him and make sure everything was in order. Would definitely rebook!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
