“Vicky was absolutely amazing with our furbabies! From the start, she was kind, attentive, and clearly passionate about animals. She kept us updated with photos and videos throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear our pets were comfortable, happy, and well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter—Vicky truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and loving to care for their pets!”

About: I have had and cared for dogs since childhood. I have experience with a wide spectrum of breeds, from the larger, more protective (German Shepherd), to the smaller, more energetic breeds (Corgi). I currently have a 13.5YO male Corgi, and have experience caring for senior dogs that require more attentive care (I recently laid my sweet girl to rest at 14.5YO, after a year-and-a-half long battle with kidney failure). In his prime, my little potato and his late sister were quite the herders, so I am able to keep up with high energy dogs. I have less experience with cats, but my empathetic approach allows me to always find common language with my furry friends. I currently work freelance from home, so my schedule is flexible to accommodate your (and your fur baby’s) needs. Though, I might need to run errands during the day or take my elderly parents to doctor’s appointments. But I conduct most of my business in the San Gabriel Valley, rarely venturing over to the west side of town, so I am always nearby. My typical day with my senior, indoor corg includes going on a walk (or to the park) 1-2x daily, depending on his energy levels. I feed him 4 meals a day (versus 3) because he has a sensitive tum, and adding another meal later into the night ensures that he doesn’t wake up with an irritated stomach. I wash his food and water bowls daily with a mild soap to reduce exposure to harmful bacteria. When we go on walks, I make sure to give other people walking with dogs a wide berth, especially if they have a larger dog and are preoccupied looking at or talking on their phones. I always scan the ground for potentially harmful things careless people can leave behind, like chicken bones. I also allow my little guy to sniff to his heart’s content, because I read that for dogs, sniffing on walks provides enrichment akin to reading the daily paper.
“Elissa was awesome coming with relatively short notice. Updates were great, lots of photos and info, everything was brilliant and we felt our cat was super well cared for. Awesome!”

“Stephanie was great! She took the time to do a pre-meet up with me several days beforehand so she could meet Simon and learn about his schedule and needs. The day of she was prompt and sent me updates during Simon's time with her, including a cute photo. I felt very confident that Stephanie gave Simon great care and I plan to work with her again in the future.”

“Day was fantastic!! Really wonderful, empathetic care & attention to detail for our kitties. We were traveling for 10 days and felt at ease knowing we were in good hands. Great communication and appreciated pictures from each visit. We will definitely be booking again for all future travel!”

“Courtney is so good with Sagan. He is not the easiest dog to handle around other dogs, but she is great at making sure Sagan is safe and well taken care of. I highly recommend her!”

“Lanice was super helpful and was able to play with my puppy while I worked. She was very professional and was able to complete all tasks with my pup. I definitely recommend her. Thank you Lanice!”

“We've rebooked Priscilla, and couldn't be more thrilled to have done so... we know our two kitties were happy to see her in November and December! She's so good with them, especially with Reina who needs insulin shots twice daily. Her attention to details, compassionate nature towards them and consistent information about them are all reasons we will continue to book Priscilla in the future.”
About: What Sets Me Apart Caring for animals has truly been a lifelong part of who I am. I’ve been caring for cats since I was 4 years old and dogs since my early teens. My parents have fostered and sheltered animals for over 25 years, and when I visit home, I help care for what we lovingly call our little “pet haven.” Through that experience, I’ve cared for kittens and puppies all the way through their senior years. Being around foster and rescue animals has taught me patience, gentleness, and how to read different personalities — from energetic and playful to calm, sensitive, or even a little sassy 😊. I’m comfortable with both high-energy pets and senior pets who need a slower, softer approach. I also have a deep respect for animal safety and well-being — even rescuing baby birds and bringing them to the local humane society when needed. Animals have always been a source of comfort and joy in my life, and I treat every pet with that same level of love, attentiveness, and care. With a steady weekday schedule, pet care fits naturally into my routine with evening pet visits after 6pm and weekend availability, limiting bookings to maintain focused, reliable, quality care. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow your instructions and routines to help your pet feel secure and stress-free. I maintain a clean, calm environment and am attentive to details like secured doors, safe walks, and proper feeding. I never overbook, so each pet receives dedicated attention and supervision. I’m happy to send regular updates and photos to give you peace of mind while you’re away.
“Jessica has been great checking in on and walking our dog Miso while we’re at work. He is very particular with people but warmed up to her right away. She’s been very responsive with updates. I would definitely recommend her!”

“If I could give Mari ten stars (or fifty), I would. She is absolutely great. She goes above and beyond. She clearly loves and understands animals, and she bonded with my cat during her introductory visit. My only concern is that my cat might prefer Mari to me henceforth (I'm only half joking.). I am sure she would be fine with dogs too. Hire her and you can be certain your pet is extremely well cared for while you are away.”

“Neysa was spectacular— it was my first time leaving my three little dogs home alone while my partner and I visited family. Neysa was timely, communicative, and great at sending pictures during their drop-in visits; Neysa afforded me peace of mind, and I will definitely rebook when we travel next. I am extremely grateful!”

“She was so good with Jessica. Usually she's super shy with new people and she immediately im ate treats from Anne. Her energy was great. Clearly she has a connection with the animals. It was less hard going on a trip knowing my cat was in good hands. She also sent the cutest photos.”

About: 🐾 About Me Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pups of all personalities and needs. I started working with dogs back in high school while volunteering at my local humane society, and I’ve spent over a decade caring for my own three small-breed fur babies. 💛 My Care Style I treat every dog like family—because that’s exactly how I’d want my own pups treated. I’m very responsive, attentive, and on the cautious side when it comes to safety. Whether your dog is shy, energetic, or somewhere in between, I’m patient, gentle, and excited to get to know them. 🐶 Why Book With Me Years of hands-on dog care experience Comfortable with small breeds and sensitive pups Safety-focused and highly communicative Genuinely love meeting new furry friends I’d be thrilled to care for your pup and give them all the love, attention, and fun they deserve. I’m a fully remote employee with a consistent work schedule that can support flexibility. I take care of my own 3 pups with many walks throughout the day and can add to the pack or walk your pup separately! My own pets are always indoors, able to free roam and be in the furniture, etc. While I am not offering in home boarding, my space does also have a fully gated grass courtyard I could walk your pup to as well!
About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life, and caring for them feels natural to me. I’m patient, calm, and really pay attention to each dog’s personality. I’m used to walking energetic pups, giving extra love to shy or senior dogs, and keeping routines just the way owners prefer. Friends and neighbors always trust me because I treat every pet like they’re part of my family. Your dog will get lots of care, love, and happy walks with me. Pet care fits really naturally into my daily routine. I always start and end my day with walks, playtime, and check-ins, so caring for pets easily fits around my work and schedule. I make plenty of time for feeding, potty breaks, cuddles, and exercise. Whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening, I make sure each pet gets consistent love and attention throughout the day. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their routines exactly how the owner prefers. I make sure they get enough walks, playtime, feeding, water, and any special care they need. I keep their space clean, give lots of attention, and make sure they feel safe and relaxed while their family is away.

“Chelsea is kind and sweet and just wonderful to our 3 kitties, one of which is a senior who needs a gentle cat sitter. I know I can trust her to love our kitties like her own.”

“My pup hasn’t really had an appetite but Sophia was able to get him to eat based all my detailed instructions. I really appreciate her help, she’s always ready and reliable.”

“We love Silvia! She fed and hung out with both of my rambunctious dogs while I was out for a long day. Sent cute pictures and updated.I would highly recommend Silvia! Really happy to have found her.”

About: I have grown up with a beautiful goldendoodle who lives with my parents. I also have professional experience pet sitting for both dogs and cats. I love animals so much and they give me so much joy and peace. I am a gentle and caring person who you can trust with your babies. When my old roommate in Boston left for business school, she left her cat with me for a year because she knew how much we were bonded and she trusted me to take care of her baby boy. So I also have experience with cats! I would professionally pet sit for my neighbors when they were out of town and would gladly provide a reference. I have been a sitter on rover for 6 years now and love it. I now have a 2 year old mini goldendoodle who lives with me and she is my princess! She loves playing with other pups! Will take your pups on hikes at Griffith Park I am currently working from home so am available all days of the week for boarding and daycare! Pets will have attention my full attention and get lots of snuggles! I live in a beautiful home in Pasadena with a fenced in yard and plenty of space! Beautiful garden and plenty of room to run around.

Diana has pet sit for my cat Mooney several times and she has been great! She sends pictures and is very responsible. She has also been very responsive whenever I reach out which I really appreciate. She has been able to watch my cat on short notice which is huge. Highly recommend!

I made sure to Book Dean a few months before my scheduled vacation because Dean is hands-down, without a doubt the best cat sitter. I’ve had many cat sitters in the past and they were all very kind and I felt that my cats were safe with them but it’s different with Dean. When we come home after a long vacation, my cats feel different if they have been watched by Dean. We can tell that they were not only safe and well fed, but they felt loved. Dean brings over handmade cat toys and special treats and engages with them the entire time. We can tell just by the photos how much our cats love Dean. I’m generally a nervous person when it comes to my cats because they are my babies and when we get Rover cards from any other Rover, I immediately have nerves thinking “what if something went wrong”. With Dean, my husband and I have general excitement when we get the Rover card. We are always so excited to see what they have been up to. It’s such a blessing when you know your pets are safe with someone but it’s beyond wonderful when you know they feel loved.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Altadena. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
