“Camille and Lucas take such wonderful care of our Pup. It’s gotten to the point that we now check their schedules before booking flexible trips away based off their availability to watch our dog! We are so thankful to have found them!”

“Courtney did a fabulous job looking after our dog and house sitting while we were away. She kept him on his food and exercise schedule and gave us peace of mind - knowing that our dog was in great care while we were away.”

“Sonia was great to deal with while we were away. And, most of all our dog just loved her. We were in Spain and really concerned in case something went wrong. But, Sonia was wonderful to work with and we weren’t worried at all with her at the house with our dog.”

“I would highly recommend Laura for your pet sitting needs. We booked Laura to stay overnight in our home to care for our 4 dogs, one of them was a 9 week old puppy who needed lots of love and attention. Laura made it a priority to make sure our pups had all of her attention and love. She was fantastic with all the dogs and they loved her. She took them on walks, cuddled and slept with them, and provided us lots of pictures. She is very professional and respectful. We felt very comfortable having her in our home. We will definitely use her again!!”

About: I’ve lived around and taken care of dogs since I was young ranging from a 12 week old puppy to a 12 year old dog. My parents have relied on me to take care of our dogs for the past couple years when they go on vacation or work trips. I’ve started independently taking care of dogs three years ago. I’m currently a full time student home for the summer so I’ll be able to play with and love your fur baby at any time. I’m available to pet and home sit any day of the week for any length of time. I am a fully able bodied individual capable of walking, playing, and taking care of your furry family member. I’ll treat your dog as my own and give them all the love and attention they need.
“Congratulations! You’ve found the best Dog Sitter one could possibly ask for! Victoria was absolutely hands down incredible. She kept us up to date regarding our pup, and also was so incredibly respectful of our home. Already have her booked for another night out that we need help for. If you’re looking for your next pet/house sitter, look no more. You’ve found your person! Thanks Victoria!!!”

“Neysa was such a great sitter for our cats, she was incredibly responsive and responsible with everything we agreed on, I felt at ease being away knowing that they were being taken care of by a caring and responsible sitter. She was very reliable and went above & beyond on everything we requested for the week we were away, thank you so much!!”

“Rebecca was a wonderful sitter for our dog, Otis, while we were away. She took great care of up, provided lots of updates, and left our home immaculately clean! We will definitely book again.”

“Kevin was super easy to communicate with and stayed in touch while I was out of town. He was extremely responsible and took great care of my special needs dogs. I’ll definitely re-hire Kevin!”

“Andi was confident, competent and a great in-home dog sitter for my two dogs. My boys are pushing 15 and 16 with lots of issues requiring close care, medicine, and special diet, and we were so nervous to leave them with a sitter for a weekend away. Andi was great at communicating any important updates, sending photos, and being there for the boys so we could relax.”

“Avery has stayed with our chug, Ernie, several times—she's amazing and I can't recommend her enough! She's great with Big Ern and expertly handles him and his dog reactivity while out on walks. She sends regular updates and pictures, is punctual and responsive, and is always respectful of our home and our neighbors. You never have to worry with Avery at the helm!”

“I was totally stressed out about leaving my two senior cats while I took an extended trip, but Sarah and David were great and I was able to relax and enjoy knowing my girls were in good hands. I also loved getting the daily pictures.”
“Amanda was so great! She updated me with pictures and updates all weekend. Our dog is a senior and has some health issues and we don’t like to leave her with just anyone. We will definitely rebook with Amanda! 😊”

“We just went to SE Asia for 9 days and Athene took care of our dog Juniper and cat Sally. She dropped by twice a day to feed them, walked Juniper and even gave her a bath, brushing and some basic obedience training. She gave us regular updates via text including pix and vids so we knew our pets were always in great hands. If you are looking for an excellent pet-sitter definitely hire Athene. She was fantastic. --John/Kelly Jackson”

“Tamar was fantastic with my four-year-old husky. She has a husky herself so she understood the nuances. She was very attentive and stayed for long periods of time. She sent a lot of pictures and updates. The communication is superb and follow up was really appreciated. Tamar was very respectful of my house, I definitely recommend using Tamar for housesitting.”

“Hannah was great. She kept me updated, cats were happy when o returned and she left my apartment in great shape. Was wonderful knowing my fur babies were happy and my apartment was well taken care of when I was away.”

“This is the second time I've hired Kathleen to look after my dogs and my house. She has always been incredibly responsive and responsible. She consistently goes above and beyond both with my dogs (even hand feeds my spoiled little one when she's being stubborn) and my house (there was a leak Kathleen went out of her way to try and diagnose, she keeps my plants alive and happy, and my house spotless). I trust her completely and all my animals love her. She sends frequent updates with cute pics, and you can tell she loves all living things. My dogs love her right back and appreciate having a snuggle buddy. She's absolutely wonderful!”
“Emma was awesome! She was easy to communicate with and make arrangements. She sent daily photos and updates of our dog- making us feel at ease. She is incredibly clean and left our place clean nice and tidy. Emma is very kind and truly took great care of our teddy - we would absolutely hire her again! Many thanks to her.”

I cannot say enough great things about Laura! We went on a 19 day trip. This was the longest we have ever been away from our dog, Rufus. Laura took such great care of Rufus. She sent us daily photos. It was clear that Rufus was super happy and well cared for. This allowed us to enjoy our trip. Laura stayed at our house with Rufus, and our house was cleaner when we came home than when we left? I wholeheartedly recommend Laura. She is amazing!

Courtney was a dream sitter for our energetic and playful black lab puppy! We used Courtney for the first time while on a week long vacation in Mexico. She took the time to do a meet and greet beforehand, and she did an excellent job of keeping us apprised of how our pup was doing everyday. We will certainly be hiring Courtney again!

J stayed with my two Bengals while I was out of town and did a great job caring for them. She followed medication instructions, cleaned up a couple of pee incidents (which is unfortunately part of life with my cats), and reached out whenever she had questions instead of making assumptions. It was obvious she genuinely liked my cats and paid attention to how they were doing. I appreciated that she noticed one of my cats allergies while I was away and texted to ask how she could help medicate if needed. I came home to two well-cared-for cats and would happily book with her again. ❤️

Mari is fantastic and clearly a cat lover - and understands cats! When she came to meet Busy for the first time, she took all the time needed to bond with my kitty and ask all questions about her care. During her time with Busy, I received the cutest photos and videos showing my kitty super comfortable, getting all her play time, and cozying up for naps every day during her stay. Mari also maintained my apartment extremely well and I’m very thankful for that! I am so happy Mari is now in our lives and I wouldn’t think twice before booking her again!

Neysa stayed with our two dogs and skittish cat. They were able to totally win over all our fur crew. Their excellent care meant that we could enjoy our vacation without concern for our family left behind. We will definitely be calling on Neysa again! They are amazing!!

Kyra was truly wonderful! She was so kind and sent us photos and updates during our trip abroad. From the moment we met her we knew Chester P was in good hands. Kyra gave us so much peace of mind leaving our little guy and she always answered any questions or concerns we had when we were away. She is incredibly kind and thoughtful and we would happily have her look after our little guy again. Thank you so much again, Kyra!

Viky was amazing! I found her by searching for her experience caring for a sick pet and she over delivered for little Roger. It was so nice to have someone give him so much love while we were on a much needed visit with my sick mother. I am very thankful to her. ❤️❤️❤️

Andi was confident, competent and a great in-home dog sitter for my two dogs. My boys are pushing 15 and 16 with lots of issues requiring close care, medicine, and special diet, and we were so nervous to leave them with a sitter for a weekend away. Andi was great at communicating any important updates, sending photos, and being there for the boys so we could relax.

We booked Ai-Ling to house sit for a week and she took great care of the apartment & our cat! She is responsive and follows detailed instructions of the feeding schedule and requests for pictures. It was our first time booking a house sitter so we were a little nervous at first but she is very respectful of using our apartment and made us feel comfortable leaving it to her for a week abroad. She always asked me about things around the place first before using it and cleaned up before leaving. Will def re-book/recommend her!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Altadena
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Altadena on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 14,504 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Altadena. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Altadena walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Altadena maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Altadena choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Altadena. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
