Courtney is an outstanding dog professional, experienced, confident, reliable, honest, on time, and she has the greatest personality. We needed an experienced dog sitter & handler for our dog Chuck to sit for an entire day and evening at our house. Courtney turned out to be the perfect Rover-choice, in full agreement with her great reviews! Chuck is a three year old high energy working line sable German Shepherd police dog. He was born, raised, and trained in Germany. Courtney and Chuck quickly bonded. She quickly learned the few German commands needed for sitting and walking purpose. She also quickly learned about the personality and traits of a dog like Chuck from a write-up summary that we handed over. Courtney kept updating us during her sit, walk, play, and feeding. She also sent us pictures. Chuck clearly fell in love with Courtney. When she left he was whining and he did not want her to leave 😀. Courtney is simply the best of the best!

She sent a lot of pictures and updates. The communication is superb and follow up was really appreciated. Tamar was very respectful of my house, I definitely recommend using Tamar for housesitting.

After recently adopting a 5-month old puppy, my husband and I had some preexisting plans that would keep us away for a long evening, and so searched online and found Rover.com. It was our first time trying the website, and we got extremely lucky and found Cheslea! Cheslea was the perfect dog-sitter for our sweet but still "growing up" puppy, Frida! After I contacted her, Cheslea offered to come by a couple of days in advance to meet us and Frida. As we had not left our pup with anyone before, we were a bit nervous, but as soon as Cheslea arrived it was clear immediately that she had the right energy and enthusiasm for dog-sitting, and would be a great caretaker for our pup. Our initial impression was correct, as she did a great job. Frida seemed calm and well-taken care of-- both in the photos she texted us while we were out, and upon our return. We have already re-booked her for additional evenings of dog-sitting. I highly recommend Cheslea. She was professional and responsive in all of her communications, prompt in her arrivals, and considerate in her care of our pup and our home.

Alexis agreed to watch Roxy and Neo at our home with less than a week to go before our trip. We put in the request and she came for a meet and greet on the same day. She took great care of our babies, giving them lots of love and allowing their routine to stay as close to normal as possible. We were able to relax and really enjoy our holidays with our families knowing she was looking after them. She went above and beyond and left the house nice for us so that we could come home and get straight to resting with our animals. We are so grateful for her and hope she’ll watch Roxy and Neo again! 10/10 would recommend choosing Alexis for your pet sitting needs!

About: Hi, I’m Steven— a retired restaurant manager who brings the same level of responsibility, consistency, and attention to detail to pet care. I’m calm, patient, and dependable, which helps dogs feel safe and relaxed with me. I already dogsit most of the year, and many of my regular clients encourage me to open up more availability on Rover so more owners can benefit from the care I provide. I do especially well with dogs who prefer steady routines, gentle handling, and clear communication. Whether your dog is energetic or more laid-back, I focus on providing reliable, attentive care and making sure they feel comfortable and well looked after at all times. For boarding and day care, your loved one would be staying in a dog-free fenced-in home, allowing for a calm, low-stress environment and more individualized attention. I only provide care for one family at a time. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine because I’m retired and have very open availability. I don’t juggle other work commitments, so your pet’s schedule becomes my schedule. This allows me to be flexible with feeding times, walks, medication needs, and companionship throughout the day. I’m able to give pets the attention and consistency they deserve rather than fitting them in between other obligations. Red Cross Cat and Dog First Aid Certified. Your loved one is unique, so I always tailor my care to specific needs and routines. In your home or out, I follow your instructions closely for feeding, walks, medications, and comfort habits so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. I keep a calm, low-stress environment and prioritize safety at all times — secure double doors, careful leash handling, and close supervision during walks and play. My goal is for your dog to feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for while you’re away.

About: I've taken care of various kinds of dogs for over ten years. My family has always owned large dog breeds, and I have done sitting for medium, small-sized dogs, and puppies. I have experience with pets on a special diet, so I understand the importance of attention to detail when it comes to taking care of your pets. I have experience walking dogs up to 140 pounds, and I also own two cats and a dog of my own currently. I'm currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time to help out with your pets! I'm available on weekdays and weekends, and am comfortable with mornings and evenings. I have a reliable source of transportation to reach your destination on time. We had a family out of town wedding weekend to go to. Obviously, like the rest of the world we hadn't traveled anywhere in the last 18 months. We have 2 middle aged dogs who've grown accustomed to having us around all the time during lockdown. Imagine our relief when we found Rique from Rover. He stayed with the boys in our house for the weekend. It was seamless. They barely knew we were gone. Rique fed them exactly like we do. Rique walked them exactly where, when and how we walk them. When we got home the house looked great. Most importantly, the dogs were great. Rique has a fantastic, calm demeanor. He's communicative. He's friendly. Rique is great. Thanks Rique!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Mount Wilson

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 13,946 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mount Wilson. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mount Wilson walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mount Wilson maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mount Wilson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mount Wilson. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
