“Joyce took great care for Spenser considering his exercise needs and adjusting walking schedule because of his reactivity, and he is big and strong. She is loving, experienced and attentive dog handler. Spenser instantly loved her and her pups. I received picture updates everyday which helped to have peace of mind and enjoy my getaway. Thank you!”

“George was extremely responsive and sent frequent updates and pictures. He was also very flexible. Atticus had aa fantastic stay and appeared really well cared for! Will definitely book again.”

“Chris was great with Moose for in-house stay! He anticipated us at drop-off and pick-up, was open to providing personal reference before booking, followed directions well, and sent several video updates daily. His house has a large fenced yard that Moose enjoyed. Moose was walked several times per day and clearly had a relaxing vacation with Chris. Would book again!”

“This was our first time using Rover and our puppy was nervous and sad at first but quickly warmed up! We received pictures and updates of him throughout his stay! 10/10”

“Carolina was awesome with our pup! She made us feel comfortable leaving our dog with her. She kept us updated with pictures and videos. It was clear she treated our dog as one of her own.”

“Jared was great with my malamute/husky mix Yuki! Yuki stayed with Jared for a little over a week and he had a great time playing with Jared and the other dogs. Jared sent a daily picture of Yuki, which gave me comfort that Yuki was doing well the whole stay. 5 stars!”

“Karen was wonderful! She gave us lots of updates, pictures, and was super nice in general. She took care of their medication needs as well, as they are senior dogs. We did a meet and greet ahead of time. Our babies were very calm around her and it gave me peace of mind knowing that they were so well taken care of. She took them on lots of walks as well. I plan to keep Karen at the top of my list when I need a dog sitter next!”

“Jemar was an amazing sitter for our beagle! Our dog is a rescue and can be a bit shy, but she and Jemar got along great and he even got her to come out of her shell and play with other dogs. Additionally, our flight got cancelled last minute and Jemar came to the rescue by keeping our dog an extra amount of time and even supplying food when our given portion ran short. I am so grateful to Jemar for going above and beyond to make sure our dog was safe and happy, I would definitely recommend!”

“I had a wonderful experience boarding my dog, Hazel, with Bryn. At the meet and greet, Hazel obviously liked Bryn (which is not always the case when meeting new people) so I knew we were off to a great start. Bryn has a calm personality and definitely is knowledgeable about dogs. She has a lovely home and a great fenced in backyard where the dogs can play. Her dog, Kepler, is very sweet. Bryn sent pictures and updates during Hazel's stay and reported that she did very well. She followed my instructions as far as giving Hazel her medications. I'd happily recommend Bryn to anyone looking for someone to care for their dog.”

“I had a last-minute need for boarding our two senior pups and had a meet and greet with David. I was immediately at ease and knew our pups would be safe and well cared for. He understood their senior needs and gave them their medications, took them for very frequent potty breaks, and was understanding when there was an accident. He even handled Millie's diaper! I hope that he's available when we need to board Millie and Theo again!”
“Melissa was absolutely amazing with our Goldendoodle, Jasper. From the moment we met her, it was clear that she genuinely loves dogs, and that showed in every part of Jasper’s stay. She and her family treated Jasper with so much love, care, and attention that he truly felt like part of their family. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that Jasper was happy, comfortable, and having a great time. When we picked him up, he looked so relaxed and happy. it honestly seemed like he wanted to stay there with them. That says everything about the kind of care Melissa provides. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend Melissa to anyone looking for someone who will treat their dog like family. Thank you again for taking such wonderful care of our boy, Jasper.”

“My dog Tako was extremely well taken care of and I got frequent updates. Shanilka was very easy to communicate with and she was very flexible as my travel plans changed due to the weather. I will absolutely be using her again if I ever need!”
“Rong was fantastic! She communicated regularly and Ralphie came home happy. I can’t ask for much more than that! Her dog, Lucky, is also a sweetheart and made a good companion for my dog.”

“John was fantastic, and I definitely plan to use him next time I go away! He was super-professional (yet very friendly), sent me lots of pictures, and I could tell my dog Venus was happy as a clam while she was staying with John. I can't say enough about how great John was.”
“Dianne was amazing - transparent and thoughtful and really great at making sure Jasper was having fun. Jasper loved hanging out with Kona and Dianne was so good about introducing Jasper to other dogs and managing dog interactions in an informed and professional manner. Truly happy and recommend highly!”

“Chash, we can’t thank you enough for the attention and care you gave our pup this week! Tons of walks, play time and cuddles.. we couldn’t ask for anything more! We would HIGHLY recommend Chash to anyone that wants their fur baby to be well loved. We so appreciated all the daily updates and photos. And even sending our pup home with some sweet new treats, so thoughtful! Our dog Birdie can’t wait to stay with Chash again 💕”

Chai had the absolute best time with Marissa! She stayed for 8 days and was so well loved and cared for. Chai completely bonded with Marissa's dog, Kobe—they had a blast playing together, and Chai especially loved trying to steal all of his toys. Marissa sent regular updates and plenty of photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. It was clear Chai was in fantastic hands. I will absolutely book with Marissa again and highly recommend her!

Elise made us feel at ease with Kona! Elise sent multiple photos each day as well as updates. We could tell Elise is experienced due to the care she took with managing introductions among other pups in her care. Also, Elise has such a sweet family which Kona loved spending the weekend with.

I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! From the moment I dropped my dog off, I knew they were in great hands. They provided regular updates with photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear my dog was well cared for, loved, and treated like part of the family. When I picked my dog up, they were happy, relaxed, and clearly had a wonderful time. I truly appreciate the attention, kindness, and professionalism throughout the entire stay. I would absolutely book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter for their furry family member!

Lucas was absolutely wonderful at caring for Dimples for over a week! Lucaas seems to have a natural ability to connect with dogs. He was incredibly flexible to allow me to drop off my dog on July 4th. He was also easy to coordinate and communicate with, and he kept my family, and particularly my kids, happy with regular pictures and updates. Dimples was so lucky to have the dedicated attention of both Lucas and his mother. I highly recommend Lucas to anyone looking for fantastic care for their dog!"

My first time meeting Cristauna and her family was very warm. They welcomed me into their home and introduced me to their family. They were very comfortable to speak with and answered all my questions. My pet Koda, who has anxiety, warmed right up to them. When I turned to leave, Koda walked away without even jumping up on me to say bye. That was a first! As he would always want to leave with me. I received lots of great pictures of Koda settling in and going on walks within the neighborhood. Seeing the pictures really helped me relax and focus on our family event. When I returned, I could tell Koda enjoyed his stay. When we got home, he went to bed....and slept well. I highly recommend Cristauna and her family and would not hesitate to leave Koda in their care in the future!

My husband and I travel frequently throughout the year, and for the past two and a half years, our dog Hendrix has always stayed with the same sitter. After unexpectedly learning that our longtime sitter was relocating out of state, we were understandably nervous about finding someone new. Thankfully, our experience with Mina couldn’t have been better! From our very first conversation through the duration of Hendrix’s stay, Mina was warm, communicative, and incredibly thoughtful. She kept us updated with timely messages and adorable photos without ever being asked, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. When our return flight was unexpectedly delayed, she was both understanding and flexible, which we genuinely appreciated. If you’re considering booking with Mina, I recommend her without hesitation. We’re so grateful to have found someone who is not only kind, but also reliable and trustworthy. We look forward to booking with her again very soon. Thank you, Mina!

Anna and her family did a great job of watching my dog Mazie. It was the first time she stayed with Anna, and I will definitely be booking with her again. My dog has some anxiety with new places but she did great there. There were alot of thunderstorms, which my dog is scared of, and she did all the right things keeping her calm. She got lots of walks, time outside and was really taken care of.

Ellie was such a lifesaver and was so great with Rhett. She kept him safe and happy and made sure to keep me updated! My dog is a bit anxious and usually takes time to recover from new situations, but he must have been pretty comfortable happy and relaxed with her because he slipped right back into routine with no fuss! Highly recommend for a smooth experience for you and your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
