“First time using Ronda and I am always a little nervous with someone new and she exceeded my expectations! Great communication with updates and pictures. Would definitely use her again!”

About: Animals have always been at the heart of my life. I currently care for my own horse, two wonderful dogs, and two beloved cats, so I understand firsthand that every pet deserves individualized attention, patience, and genuine affection. As a lifelong animal lover, I have experience caring for dogs, cats, and horses of all personalities—from energetic puppies and playful kittens to senior pets and large animals. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, feeding, medication reminders, companionship, or simply someone to love on them while you're away, I'll care for them as if they were my own. I also have a reliable truck, so if your pet needs transportation to a veterinary appointment, doggie daycare, or grooming appointment, I can help. I'm dependable, attentive, and committed to keeping your pets safe, happy, and comfortable in their familiar environment. I know how much trust it takes to leave your furry family members with someone else, and I take that responsibility seriously. For me, caring for animals isn't just a job-it's what brings me joy. Because I own my own business, I have more flexibility than a traditional 9-to-5 schedule. This allows me to provide reliable visits, personalized attention, and plenty of updates while you’re away. As someone who shares my home with two dogs, two cats, and my horse, Grayson, I know how much trust it takes to leave your animals in someone else’s care. I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I’ll treat your pets with patience, kindness, and genuine love while following their routine as closely as possible. My goal is simple: for your pets to feel safe and for you to have complete peace of mind.
“Susan was hands down, amazing! We were in the market for a new sitter, as our old one moved away, and Susan exceeded our expectations! Great communication, respectful of home, and the best was the care she provided to our overly friendly pets and the consistent picture updates! We would absolutely recommend Susan!”

About: I’ve taken care of neighbors, friends and families dogs since I can remember. From single old pups to a house of 10 dogs and cats I’m currently off and free every Monday-Thursday after 2-3pm. Sometimes even as early as 10am. I’m open all afternoon and well into the next morning till 6am. I can only offer to take care of pets at your property, they’d rather be home anyways right? I find that animals prefer a new person in their own nest rather than in a strange new environment.
“Brittany was a fantastic communicator. She went above and beyond when our sweet girl also didn’t want to eat, going to the store to get more food. We would definitely book her again!”

“Steven was a lifesaver! He took great care of our pups (4 y/o and 19-week-old). When we returned our home was in better shape than when we left. He’s very personable. 100% would recommend!”

“Kristi was so great with Aurora. She came and stayed with her while I was away. Took her on plenty of walks, even gave her a couple baths when she got dirty. Will definitely use Kristi again if ever needed.”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and have been sitting since I was a kid. I love animals but I especially love dogs - your fur baby and I will be best friends while you are away. I love going on walks and playing fetch, and generally just doing what I can to make sure your dog is well cared for. I have experience giving dogs medications, baths, etc. I have experience with 8 week old puppies as well as elderly dogs. I’m a graduate student with night class two nights a week, but otherwise I work from home. Making sure your pets get needed attention won’t be an issue for me! I only care for pets in the owners home, that way your fur baby stays where they are familiar and comfortable. I am very clean and tidy and will ensure that I clean up after myself while staying with your pet.
About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with pets and have owned three wonderful dogs over the years—a Shetland Sheepdog, a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, and my current Terrier mix, Bandit. In addition to caring for my own dogs, I've volunteered with a local dog rescue and fostered dogs, giving me experience with a variety of breeds, ages, personalities, and temperaments. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, or simply relaxing with company, I'll make sure they receive the individualized care and attention they deserve. I'm also comfortable administering medications and following detailed care instructions to help keep your pet healthy, happy, and comfortable. I work full-time during the week. Because I want every pet in my care to receive plenty of attention, I offer boarding in my home on weekends, when I can dedicate my time to walks, playtime, cuddles, and maintaining your dog's normal routine. During the week, I offer drop-in visits for pets who need potty breaks, meals, walks, medication, or companionship while their owners are at work or away. This schedule allows me to provide dependable, attentive care while ensuring every pet gets the time and attention they deserve. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I'll carefully follow your pet's routine and keep you updated with daily photos and videos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. Because my dog, Bandit, will also be in the home during boarding stays, I require a meet-and-greet before accepting new boarding clients to ensure our dogs are comfortable together and are a good fit. My goal is to provide a safe, low-stress, loving environment where every dog feels welcome, secure, and cared for like family.
About: I have always loved animals in general, but I still haven’t found the words to describe my love for dogs of all kinds. Neighbors, friends, and family have trusted me to care for their pets, from puppies to seniors, since I was a teen. I have experience caring for multiple animals while house sitting for a family friend with 7 dogs, 6 beagles and a chocolate lab! Although I am biased towards dogs, I do enjoy the company of cats and have experience caring for the cats of neighbors and friends. I currently work 2nd shift, so my mornings and early afternoons are free for midday walks and check ins! Most days I start at 3pm and get off between 9pm and 11pm. I will follow any specific instructions for the care of your furry friend! I’d love to work with you to make sure both you and your pet have a wonderful experience!

“Hannah was my first house/dog sitter I’ve had with Luna and she did a great job! She’s communicative, friendly, and it gave me peace of mind knowing Luna was well taken care of while I was gone. I’ve already booked her again!”

“Teijah did a great job. She made regular stops through the day like I requested. My dog is a little timid with strangers and even more so when I’m not there but Teijah gave her space and made sure she was fed, watered and let out to potty regularly. Would use her house sitting service again.”

“Kate did an excellent job taking care of Penny while we were visiting the area. Penny was well cared for and in good spirits when we returned. Thanks for taking care of our baby-”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Virginia Beach
Anastasia did a fantastic job with our Chocolate Lab. Even when there was a bump in the road (and on Tuckers neck) she took all the information in stride, and made our pup very happy and comfortable. When we walked in from our trip, we found a happy and healthy boy waiting for us, which speaks to how happy he was when Anastasia was looking after him. We would use her again without hesitation.
Annika was so amazing! She met with my pups twice before house sitting to make sure that they were comfortable with her. She went out of her way to ensure that she kept their regular schedule to alleviate their anxiety while I was away Annika sent details every day of everything that they had fun doing, and a ton of pictures because she knew I was missing them, too. I got home and everything was so tidy. She even took the trash out and washed stuff, plus cleaned up after them outside- none of which was discussed or expected but it really lightened my load getting settled back in once home. Most importantly, she truly cares for each and every dog that she cares for, worked with my frenchies and they were content and happy the entire time that I was gone. Highly recommend!! Will 100% request her services in the future!! ❤️

Chris was so great with our Bowie! This was his first time with him and he was able to meet him prior to our trip! Chris was extremely responsive and gave Bowie a wonderful experience! Was our first time working with him but it won’t be our last! Thank you Chris!

Mary was great house sitting and watching my two high energy dogs (Aussies)! She did daily walks as well as playing in the back yard + was able to accommodate their special needs (prescription food for one and chewable meds for the other). I would absolutely recommend her as a dog walker or sitter as she loved my dogs a whole lot.

Maya is fantastic - excellent communication, very reliable and most importantly, takes great care of my dogs. She really went above and beyond to work with one of my dogs who is nervous around new people. I highly recommend Maya and will definitely work with her again!

Jessica was great with our GoldenDoodle Sammy. We were going out of town for a week over Christmas. Our usual sitter had to cancel last minute and I was panicked! I contacted Rover and Jessica was available. He usually is wary of new people but he instantly loved her. She came and took him out and played with him in the back yard for an hour 4X a day! It was really cold outside so we were impressed by her dedication. She took lots of pics and they were amazing! She could go into professional photography. All in all we had a great experience and would love to use her again in the future.

Kayla was amazing! We have two spoiled pups — a goofy 1½-year-old golden and a quirky 8-year-old border collie mix — plus a senior cat. They can be a bit high-maintenance, and Kayla handled them all like a pro! Our dogs are used to having someone home most of the day, and Kayla was able to provide that. She made sure they got plenty of attention, love, and playtime. She sent daily photo updates so we could enjoy our vacation and not worry if they were being taken care of. We came home to happy, healthy pets and a spotless house. Highly recommend — our crew can’t wait to have her back! 🐾💛
Megan was absolutely wonderful. She took such good care of my dog, Lola. Lola gets separation anxiety. However, with Megan she was great. Megan sent daily pictures and updates on how Lola was doing. Which relieved a lot of my own anxiety. I felt so comfortable with Megan taking care of Lola. I highly recommend Megan to care of your pup(s).

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Virginia Beach on Rover is $42.13 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,158 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Virginia Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Virginia Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Virginia Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Virginia Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
